Just got this in the mail:
It is with much regret that we have today announced that we have now ceased further development of Dragon Empires due to technical issues we have recently experienced with the game.
This of course is extremely sad news for everyone concerned with the game. For regular visitors of our forums, these will remain active for the foreseeable future to give you the opportunity to give your feedback and keep in touch with your fellow Dragon Empires community members.
We are still very much committed to entering the MMORPG market and are currently evaluating other potential opportunities, keep your eyes and ears open for news in the not too distant future.
Thank you again for all your loyalty and support over the previous years and we only wish we could have rewarded your passion and enthusiasm with the final game.
Best Wishes,
The Dragon Empires Team

UXO I wouldnt mind seeing making a comeback. The Ultima series is awesome. UO sucks though. UXO could probably be a good thing to bring back what Ultima was all about originally. UO is wannabee Ultima.
Dragon Empires, I kind of figured it was dead. I remember joining the community 6-8 months ago, and them starting beta. They told me to wait a month or two to get the scoop on the beta phases etc. 4 months later nothing. 6 months later nothing. 8 months later I get the newsletter they cancelled. Not a suprise at all. The last 6 newlesetters have had ZERO content. A new lore, A new concept art. That was all we had for the last 6 months. I wasnt interested in the game anyways.
Warhammer wth was that? Never knew it existed until it was cancelled. Supposed to be a dice game gone video game? Never played the dice game although I heard it was popular. Oh well probably upset some of their hardcore fans who enjoyed computer games. Nothing I dont think I will miss.
I personally like Eve Online. Im happy playing it. World of Warcraft looks good too just so I can beat people down with a sword instead of shooting lasers from my spaceship in Eve (change of pace). Everquest 2 is really good looking, but was designed by pee wee hermen (No PvP? No competition? Just pretty stuff? Just killing computer AI?).
Eve Online rules them all. WoW you should play if you are into the fantasy rpg genre.
Hiya,
Yeah it is sad, it seems some of the best of them are going under. I was looking forward to Warhammer Online the most, since well I have been a Warhammer fan for around 15 years . I think it was one of the only actual roleplaying games being release. I do hope they eventually re-release it. I also hope Dragon Empires pops back out for some friend who followed it.. The market is being saturated by garbage, and there is no real MMORPG being release, but Wish does have a chance, possibly Mourning also. I can only hope the Developers actually try to release something new, and actually have a engaging story and immersive world.
I really would not consider WoW a RPG, that trivial abomination has more in common with counter strike than a RPG. I don't think Blizzards has a creative team good enough to make a RPG, but they are good at "borrowing" ideas and stories from other companies since their conception. Although, that is just my opinion of them, and their loathsome thin storied games. Sorry for the rant, but I sometimes lose it when I hear RPG and WoW being uttered in the sentence. I was pleasantly surprised by Eve, I was hoping it could evlove into better, but it still gave me a smile .

Your are certanly stupid my friend. It seems that you know nothing about blizzard just like that other noob in another topic. They never "borrowed" stories and ideas, EVER becuase I belive that Warcraft have one of the best () game stories. If company is experts at making God mode (somthin like that) games and are experts in years of online multiplayer experence then they can make a great MMORPG. And WC3 is almost like an RPG and do you know how many copies they sold? Take a wild guess. . . .
Don't post about somthing you don't know about, even if it's your opinon.

Most best. *chuckles*
Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.

It should be thrown with great force"
WoW imo is an ok game. What it needs is an open PvP server. Let you play as a wannabe arthas. The evil undead (like they should be.) Foul-tempered orc. Etc.
If not, it'll just end up being another EQ in wolves clothing.

Hiya,
Excuse me, you obviously know nothing about me, yet you spout off nonsense as though we are acquainted hmmm? Now you are questioning my intellect with your wondrous grasp of the English language? Please do not bring intellects to bear in this discussion you will lose, and it has no bearing on this dispute.
Ahh yes noob, such a lovely word for those who do not know how to describe a person other wise. For your information, if you would care to even understand it, I most likely have been gaming far before you were born, so please stop with the pathetic attempt at a rebuttal. You probably have never even used DOS, which yes Warcraft 1 was out around that time and Windows 3.1, but not even close to as long Warhammer was around. So do you see where I might be going with this?.
I do know a good deal about Blizzard since I have watched them grow since the release of Warcrap 1 (yes I know witty play on words ). I also remember how many gamers seen it as a bad carbon copy of Warhammer. Sorry to say, but Blizzard has been acquiring ideas from other companies since their conception. If you dont know what that means they have been taking other companies lore for more than inspiration. There has been many cases where people have seen their discrepancies of where they acquired their ideas can anyone say gyro copter or various other items borrowed? You can even find little stories that share close relationship with Warhammer. Granted, the Warhammer lore is not a deplorable facsimile. I have seen it many times, and so have many others, but you can believe whatever you like. Many have brought it up before, but the fanatic followers of their basic and pathetic storied games have tried to make the usual inane attempt at defending them. Also if you would take the time, which you must have, you would look on the net for the various areas where Blizzard has borrowed ideas for their so called wonderful stories. If you think Blizzard has engaging stories I can only imagine your desired reading or lack there of.
The only ones that has ever said, that Blizzard has engrossing and detailed stories have been their fanatic following, which I dont think there is much to say about them. I have seen enough of the Blizzards forums to know. Also it take more than making games of utter hack and slash over small and varied servers, than to make a truly engaging and immersive world of ROLEPLAYING. Warcraft 3 almost a RPG? That is like saying Diablo 2 was a RPG or even better Counter Strike, which I am sure you play a great deal of. Dont you just love it when someone assumes about you hmmm? I am amazed you think Warcraft 3 had a great story. I myself always wondered where was the story? Was it in their miserable attempts to hide it through constant mobs, or possibly the wondrous levels of useless combat and attenuated interaction? I am amazed you found a story there within the perpetual combat. I know RTS games have a good amount of combat, but that atrocity bordered on utter boredom. Pouring mobs on you Ad Naseum is not story, nor anything relatively engrossing or hard.
Also how many sold does not mean how good a game actually is, it usually just means there are a lot of people who like bad things. NSYNC sold a lot, but I would not say they were particularly talented. I have played many games, that did not sell well in the mass market, but they still surpassed the big ones in content and story. Just because something sells a lot does not mean it is actually good, this has been proven again and again. I am sorry for you if you do not see this. Also I will give my opinion when I please, since I would not say it unless I researched a bit, so why not try it for yourself hmmm.
So I guess you were not the one to know about it, or you really didnt care to research it yourself. I know you still wont agree with me, but I could really careless, since someone of your caliber would rather attack someone than find out where they heard said info. I guess it was too hard for you to ponder this info, but no you had to try and insult my intellect on a subject you show you know nothing about.
One thing never call someone stupid, since generally you show your own insecurities and intelligence, also it would be best not to attack anyone at all. I dont think your stupid. I just find you a little rude child who he himself never researches what he says. I understand not everyone knows English, which they shouldnt have to, but this is not directed at them. I know how convoluted the language can be. No offence this is just in regards to one who took liberty to attack me, so sorry if I offended anyone else.
Please dont bother to respond unless you will civil and actually research before you spout off attacks. I will discuss this civilly, but do not resort to attacking or flaming.

EDIT Sorry for hijacking the thread Annekynn it weas not my intent . I do wish Dragon Empires was still around. What game do you think will fall next?
This is just sad. This could've been a great game and it had a few new ideas as well.
Maybe the code was really as buggy as they claim. It was quite long in development and if it would've been close to release they wouldn't cancle it i guess.
SAD!!
Imperator...I've been following it since before there was even a site. Looking forward to it as well.
As for DE...was following it as well. Was hoping to get in the beta, it had potential from what I read. RIP.
It certainly is too bad, I was watching DE, but not as closely as Mourning, Dark and Light, and Guild Wars. Nonetheless, to see them put that much time in effort and of course money into a game only to cancel it this late in its development is tough......... Okay, I am past it...
