I remember reading about SWG years before it came out. I read the hype and so did my friends. We waited and when release was near we all had our ideas of how it would be. In our minds and our plans everything for that game was awsome. First playing was great too. Untill we saw how unbalanced everything was and how the people who make it (im not going to name names here) borked everything and how they have been making promises to fix stuff and never do it. Its really ashame that all our hopes for SWG were all let downs and frustrations.
I really hope that Matrix Online is not the same kind of let down.

---And I still haven't found what I'm looking for---
Joined 2004 - I can't believe I've been a MMORPG.com member for 20 years! Get off my lawn!
Gwad I hope its not a COH clone - that game got so boring after a month or so.
MXO looks like its going to be a lot more fun - better looking city (from the screen shots), better looking characters, and MUCH, MUCH cooler looking combat.
Actually, from what I've read, there will also be an element of skill crafting in MxO. That is one better than CoH.
The Matrix Online is going to be a great game. There will be more than just combat. what i'm really looking forward to is the story. the chance to continue the story of The Matrix on my own is just great.
but what really seems cool about this game is the ability to swap out all your abilities for all new ones whenever you want. you wont be stuck to a specific class, but instead can choose from a variety of abilities. and if you decide you dont like the abilities you've chosen, just switch them out for what you do want right away! you dont have to create a new character or start all over with a different class.
i play ffxi and i cant tell you how many times my party has disbanded because our main tank or main healer had to leave. this wont happen in this game, because now you can just have any other character switch out their abilities and fill that missing role.
I surely hope that MxO will be something new... I'm tired of all MMORPGs that are just the same over and over and over. One strange thing I noticed on all screenshots with someone getting shot (When they look like they are flying backwards from the hit) there is no blood! No blood? What is this? Nicelodeon? Gimme blood!
Just wanted to say that :-P
Agents forever!

there will be 'skill trees' that you can 'climb'. the more you specialize in one 'tree' the better you are at it. however, if you decide you're tired of 'climbing the soldier tree', you can start on the 'caster tree' or whatever floats your boat. i read a post from a mxo dev that said it is possible to master all of the trees, but it would be quite a feat.
the thing is, even if you master all of the trees, you can't use all of the skills at once. you can only hold so many ability codes at once and you are forced to chose which ones you will use. all you have to do if you want to switch your codes around is get to a hardline. pretty cool eh?
Seems like a cool game to me!!
Oh god, lets get COH out of our heads (damn waste of money)
While COH offered only combat and a high level of customized appearance, MxO has taken this a step further. Anyone else remember the continuing storyline? The faction based missions? The monthly updates (of which 2 are confirmed ready)? The faction wars?
I'm putting faith in Monolith, and so god help me if the f*ck this up...
" This game is going to turn out like a CoH clone. It will be a fresh, fun idea. But both these games only have to offer is combat. After a month you will be bored out of your mind. "
U should learn more about a game before you post something like this. The game offers much more than combat. Because the world is so big, much bigger than any other existing MMO world (even all of SWG's planets put together), exploring alone will be a huge part. Also, only one of the three ability trees focuses on combat. The other two, spy and hacker, will be just as important and useful. Hacker skills allow you to craft, create skills, use viruses/anti-virus codes to affect other players, and much more. Spy abilities will, like the name suggests, allow players to use stealth. You can hide yourself in code, esentially making yourself invisible to many other players and npc's (some skills will counter this), disguise yourself as someone else (a police officer for instance), and give you special spy attacks that allow you to get past other npc's (and maybe even other players) without being noticed.

Even if you weren't a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd movies, you have to give the W. Bros. credit on innovation and creativity. The idea that they would spend all this time to shell out a big fighting game seems doubtful, as I am assuming they will have bigger and better things than that. Then again, one could look at 'Enter the Matrix' and see that games might not be the best idea...lol. But, we can always hope. I'm pretty sure they're going to have one hell of a game come Nov. and I can't wait to give it a shot.
