Wouldn't it be smarter to post that after Darkfall is released?

People are not calling Darkfall vaporware just because of its long development cycle. They are calling it vaporware, because Aventurine has not shown us anything in the game firsthand.  Aventurine writes developer logs and shows us screenshots, but they don't show us the features they promised us first-hand. I am sure that everyone here wants to see some gameplay footage of Darkfall.

The least Aventurine can do is apologize for the lack of information about Darkfall, and long development cycle. 3D realms apologized for the long development cycle for Duke Nukem Forever, why dosen't Aventurine?

If Darkfall is released then I will play it, but I will not have blind faith in a company that obviously dosen't care about its fans.

Lame comic, and a sad commentary on the human condition.

Fanatics on one end of the spectrum want fanatics on the other end of the spectrum to be punished.  The harsher and more inhumane, the better.  Hey!  They had it coming.

Whatever.  I will stick to the middle road.

True, but in my opinion people that call Darkfall vaporware have more common sense. They don't have blind devotion to something. When something sounds fishy they don't pledge their lives to it.

This is my first post in the Darkfall forums by the way, so you can't really call me a fanatic.

I think some of the problem is the varying definitions used for "vaporware".  In the most extreme sense, DF is not vaporware, as they have something.  Screenshots and videos are enough to convince me that a game is in dev.

Of course, the lack of  proof for a game that is in decent shape makes me very skeptical.  There is a game (IMO) but what shape is that game in?  Less than 6 months to release, and we have been shown very, very little.  From my experience, this indicates a game that is in bad shape.

My guess is that DF will release, and that it will most likely be a train wreck.  Just like many other indie games similar to DF.

I totally agree.  I still hope DFO proves to be a incredible success.  AoC isnt a failure but it's not a game for me.  So I still hoping WAR, DFO and the others make it so I have choices to play.  For now, DAoC is still the best MMO (imho) hehe

I have to agree with you, but the game really has no gameplay footage. Well there is gameplay, but they are basicly just trailers. They don't even show an interface. So basicly what we may be looking at is a movie, rather than a game.

I agree with you on DF being a train wreck if it is released. If it took them so long to develop a game, can we expect the developers to fix bugs, and add features in a timely manner, So the long development cycle isn't the only problem with Darkfall.

Aventurine has been developing Darkfall for over 7 years. How many years will it take them to make an expansion pack. I think that is something that almost everyone looking forward to Darkfall has overlooked. If Darkfall is released then great, will it hold up for long, I think not.

Great, I like how you're not making Darkfall you're only hope, like how Darkfall fanboys do.

Don't get over-excited about any games. Trust me I know, I was really pissed off when I played Tabula Rasa and it wasn't the game for me.

If Darkfall is released the fanboys can feel free to say I told you so, I could care less.

I think you're being a little unfair. Games like AoC and Vanguard made use of existing game-world technolgy like the DreamWorld engine, the Unreal engine and SpeedTree, allowing them to be rushed out quite quickly.

Aventurine on the other hand have developed their own proprietary technology for Darkfall, which is an additional extra job to do and one that will take extra years of development time.

Muffin has done a great job with dimfall! =D. Anyhow the vaportrolls has grow thin, but the scepticals are more than never. Tho I can't blame them.

But instead of vapor they'll say; "if they don't release everything promised it will fail" So I can give you a hint, prestige classes wont be in. It will be released later. So they have failed due to many people in here.

ohh, and fuck..... Sweden 0-2 Russia

Well considering the long development of Darkfall, they have to have all the features. People have waited enough on Darkfall, they shouldn't have to wait for any more features after Darkfall is released. Lack of promised features at launch simply wouldn't be justified.

lol I saw the Sweden vs Russia game. I was kind of surprised Russia won :P.

I think that I did sound unfair, but what I said makes sense. Tell me two games other than Darkfall that use a custom engine, that took 7+ years to develop.

Star Trek Online boasted about having their own custom engine. Age of Mourning did too!

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Star Trek Online was announced in 2004. Darkfall was announced in 2001 . I don't know about Age of Mourning though I've never heard of it.

well the thing is Aventurine doesn't care what you think or what vaportrolls think. If Darkfall started to hype up like AoC did I'd be seriously worried about Darkfall.
