Casual gaming

Is AoC a mmorpg for someone like me who maybe can play 2 to 3 hours a day 4 to 5 days a week?  I also am in no rush to get to lvl 80 and I want to take my time enjoying everything in the game and also learn how to PvP more since thise will be my first mmorpg I am interested in PvPing.  Is the Collector's Edition worth getting or just the standard edition?

I think the game is perfect for the casual gamer. There are allot of quests. I only play a few hours a night also and have 3 characters that are now early to mid 30's. Been having a blast !! =)

I play on a PVE server so I can't help ya with the PVP aspect.

IMO the Collectors Edition is worth it only if your a HUGE Conan fan. Otherwise the Standard Edition is the way to go. In the CE you do get a few items like a drinking cape and a 2xp+ ring I believe (to level 40).

If your going to play the game casual, then I would say, go for it. And make sure your RIG can handle the game or your going to have a bad experience from the get go like most of the users on this forum.

On a PvP server half the battle is rushing as fast as possible to get to the level cap, pretty much the same with most PvP games. This kind of goes against your 'I'm in no rush to get to 80' way of gaming, I would suggest a PvE server.

They still have mini-games and when guilds start moving into the borderlands you can choose to play around in there.

Wait for other big titles that could end up very disappointing to many others as well? Ppl are overhyping every game in the making and are going to get let down when these games are released...just the same as many have been with AoC.

Also you power you way threw to lvl 80 n do all in less than a month of game release...it is doubtful with that kinda playstyle any game will be enjoyable for more than a month for you.

or maybe wait a couple of months for a free trial and some of the bugs to be ironed out...

Perfect for a casual player like myself. I have very fragmented time available, but I can still log on for 30 mins and get something done. Much unlike a lot of other MMOs I could mention if I wanted to stir up the board.

Perfect for casual gamers, I usually have even less time than the OP & so far it has been great for me. As other posters have mentioned, since AoC has lots of solo play content it is still worth logging in even if you only have half an hour to play.

So far I have stuck to PvE due to all excessive reports of 'Ganking'. If the new 'Fugitive System' actually seems to work then I might try PvP as well, as otherwise I feel like I am missing something. It's probably worth waiting until the new system has settled down before trying PvP, as otherwise that spare half an hour might be wasted on being 'Spawn Camped' by higher level players with lower level maturity.

I have an older machine with a newer graphics card & whilst I can't play at high settings & only get average FPS at medium, the graphics still look great & the game generally plays very well. At the rate patches are being applied I expect that to improve also, as each one seems to improving performance issues for me at least.

I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition & haven't regretted it. Even though the in game items aren't exactly earth shattering, the extras in the box were nice & it wasn't that expensive compared to the cost of a round of drinks in a London bar.

If you do try the game I hope you enjoy it as much as I am doing.

If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

PvP servers are not so bad as people may believe from reading about all this "ganking". I played almost to 20 before I was ever attacked by another player. Most players do not attack others without reason.

Yup! Excellent for the casual player!

Been playing about an hour a day during the week and a couple hours saturday and sunday... Made 40 a few days ago... But then things started to get BUSY(TM)... What with all the new guild members, gathering for the keep, hunts, missions, epic hunts...

    Whew!

I think the majority of complains you see around here may be from those who have been in a rush so they could PVP or see the magic number 80 on their name tag or something. Fall in with good people? You will have plenty to do!

I agree with this. I also think there are a lot of casual players in the game and also on the horizon. A lot more than the vocal minority will ever be, the ones that won't be hitting 80 for a couple of months or more, and  the ones who will be settling the future of AoC.
