Hello Everyone,
So here I am again without a game to play and I'm really having a hard time finding one that I care to shell out my hard earned cash for. I've been gaming now for years and I started off playing The Sims Online when it was in beta. From there I went to Star Wars Galaxies where I remained until the dreaded NGE. After that awful experience I've been roaming from game to game almost ever 6-12months it seems. I get so bored with these so called MMORPGs. I went to WOW because everyone else did that I knew from SWG. I stayed there and tried to enjoy the game but there was no real community. Nothing like I had experienced in SWG where people actually "HELPED" each other just to be nice.
So from WOW I went to LOTRO and played that for a good 8months after both the closed beta and open beta was over. Again I found the community lacking. No one likes to group unless the quests call for a group, which to me makes no sense, why play an MMO if you are soloing the entire game until you can't progress without help. I did of course join a guild and that helped somewhat but again if you weren't doing something that helped the other members out then you were on your own.
So from LOTRO I went to numerous games, some f2p, some p2p. But I still cannot find a home in the gameworld. DOes anyone have any suggestions for me. No I do not want to play EVE online. I don't like the fact that I'm just a picture that my avatar never gets out of the ship etc. I'm looking for a sandbox style game like SWG was pre NGE and one that has a nice community that actually likes to be around other people for the social aspect not just to progress their character up in level. I'm not really one for pvp either although I don't mind it, I just don't want it to be the entire focus of the game itself. So with that list can anyone steer me towards something I might like to play for a good while?? THanks gang!

hmmm, not one reply? Now I'm worried, lol Is there really nothing out there that fits the bill?
Ryzom apparently is coming back. If you're familiar with the game, you may be interested.

Social sandbox eh... Second Life.
If you liked PvP, then we could've said Earthrise, Darkfall, APB, and others that are in development at the moment.
You might give Vanguard a try. There are a substantial number of AoC refugees hitting the servers these days, and its quite a decent game now. Check out this video.
Try neosteam many says it is one of the game that can subtitute to WoW.
What is it with Neo Steam? Those big furry creatures in the screenshots look like the biggest joke ever. Am I missing something?
Neo Steam is a Korean grinder, the concept is better than the actual game. If you want a free to play Sandbox, try Mabinogi.
Ah.. I have never heard anyone say that yet you use the word 'many'? Hmm.
Where are those many people?

Well most of the people here at this forum dont try the game yet.. but if they've try it they surely feel the difference.
Lol they look nice though.... have you ever tried the game? game surely nice and ooooh in case you need help in game I can help you ^^
thanks for the suggestions but Neosteam and Mabagoni are super cute animae games and I really don't like those. I tend to lean towards the games where the characters look more realistic. WOW was as cartoony as I could swallow.
I'm still searching for a new game, downloaded a few old ones and so far I haven't gotten into anything that made me sit up and take notice. I'm starting to consider reinstalling LOTRO and giving it another shot. But I'm going to continue to search for other mmo's before I spend the day doing that.
Anyone try that WURM online?? What's the deal with the economy in that game?
One MMO that kept me going for quite a bit was Cabal Online(F2P). Sure there was a limit of armor and weapons. But the crafting and skill system were great. Especially the skill animations. Gotta love em. I play until LV105 where that's when my friends convinced me to join WoW after 2 months of tries. And then I quit after 10 days.
Or You could try Aion when it comes out. But it will be quite of a wait. It's promising though.
Don't worry, you're not alone in your MMO case. I'm just playing FPSs until Aion releases.

I'll have to check out Cabal then. Sounds like it might be something I could play for awhile. I just got done trying Rohan which seemed pretty cool until I realized that it's a major pvp game, lol. That's what you get for not reading up on the games before playing them. I loved how the game looked though as far as characters, armor, weapons, combat and surroundings. It's in open beta right now for those of you who haven't heard of it. You can find it listed on the game list on this website.
So no one has played WURM or has any information about WURM?
Grrrrr, Total bummer!! After going to the Cabal online website and reading up on the game I was all ready to register and download it. The game looks great and I was totally excited about trying it. However this game is only available in Europe../cry...no wonder I haven't heard of it or tried it yet. What a bummer
Actually i too have heard from quite a few people that neosteam is the substitute for WoW, so maybe you should get out there more, eh Marle?

Wurm is a great game.. you just need an open mind to play it. Give it a go.

Tales of Pirates is a good one. I met a person on there that became a good friend of mine. I quit after a while out of boredom, though. I don't even know if there's a part of the game that you can be on a boat or not....
Mabinogi is another. PVP is only in a certain battle room, which for that you need battle tokens... It's got nice people and the dungeons are unique in the way that they're different every time you enter... It's an interesting game, actually. You need to pay to create your character with certain interesting aspects to them, but hey it's great even without paying.
Blood Clans is also a good MMORPG i've played. You need to download a strange game and then you need to find the server it's on (I didn't find it for weeks). Other than that, it's great. Kind of empty if you ask me but you can find friends who help you get the most interesting items. I haven't seen any monsters on there, so it's more of a PVP thing....You can only PVP on neutral ground, though, so.....

Thanks Dyakk13!! I'm downloading it as I write this. Looking forward to trying the game out. The videos on the site show alot of flashy combat, and the armor looks great.
Neo Steam has 2 be the biggest joke ever... id rather play runescape than neo
