Well, here I am. Back at MMORPG browsing every thread in search of a game to play.
I spent over three years on World of Warcraft. After playing multiple characters at cap in PvP and top end PvE, I made my leave.
Then, to Age of Conan. The most unpolished "Pay to play" game i've ever set my eyes on. It literally hurt my brain after building a city, getting to level cap (The worst class too.. Dark Templar) and then realizing something about AoC. AoC was fun, do not get me wrong.. but pay to play? I've seen way better free MMO's with half the bugs.
So, I came to a conclusion.. maybe I could check out the MMO's I used to play before I could afford things like WoW/AoC/etc.
Unfortunately for me, I just find the same thing over and over. Being that there are SO many free MMO's out there, the problem always seems to be along the same lines. I have to choose between PvE or PvP. I have to play with crappy camera angles OR I have to click to move (Which isn't going to happen). Finally, if there is a slightly "ok" game, it severely lacks community.
I guess what I'm here to do is, see if anyone has found a free game that they liked based on the same principles as mine. Which are pretty simple:
1.) I would like a game without a lack of community.. I can walk around the city of Eversun in Domo saying whatever I want and I wouldn't be noticed (though this can be related to the very small chat box).
2.) PvE is "crucial" to me in a way. I always advance to the highest ends of PvE in every game I play (that has "high end PvE") and i'd like to be able to do that again. One thing i'd really love to see is a battle system that is executable in movement. Meaning, if I hit an instant cast ability while I'm jumping/falling, this ability works.. I don't care about some hoity toity little "combo system" if it causes my character to stand in one spot while executing said combo. You could think more along the lines of the WoW combat system, simply because you can get more "personal" with it.
3.) PvP is great, I know Domo has some amazing "arenas". I wouldn't mind if it had great PvP.. I never rolled on anything BUT PvP servers when it's an option.
4.) Graphics are not a huge thing for me. I already played a really pretty game, and when crap doesn't work.. you wouldn't mind if your character was a stick with a head on it. I don't mind a game with a few bugs here and there, but in every zone you go into.. yea, completely ridiculous for a payed game.
Ps. Yea, I know it's a lot to ask.. but if this game is out there and i've yet to hear about it -- i'd like to.

Well, Guild Wars or Mythos are the only two games that come to mind that sort've meet your suggestions. Guild Wars is debatable, but nonetheless a worthy candidate for you to check out.
If you haven't heard of Mythos, and enjoyed the D2 style of play, it might what you're looking for.
Blessings,
MMO migrant.
Yes I agree Guild Wars is the best atm.....Even though I just started playing it it has been able to keep my attention more than any other game.
Mythos is in closed beta stage.....I am still trying to get into it.
Well, thank you both but I can't afford to buy the box for Guild Wars.
And I Beta tested Mythos. ._.;
