I went to gamestop today and got my CE preorder, and I got the last one they will ever get at my store. I asked the associate how many other stores have, and he said that most of the gamestops NATION WIDE have sold out of rave cards. He also said that only 60k CE's will be released in NORTH AMERICA. I confirmed this with the website.
I went home and looked up Best buy and amazon, and they are having the same general problem with limited quantities.
Basically, if you want a pre-order, and you are reading this... you might be boned.

Frankly I'm surprised there are any left at all. If nothing else I figured they would sell out just to get into beta. It doesn't cost anything to pre-order so even if you don't plan on playing the game or just want to try it you may as well pre-order and then just cancel if you don't like what you see in the beta. That's why AoC charged 5 bucks for the download so if you canceled they still got you for a few bucks.
Well with AOC they still wanted to get a little bit I think. With WAR I figure Paul is pretty confident people will like it lol. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon the day it became available and have had my code on there for a long time.
I'm just kinda curious what rock you've been under OP...the announcement for the CE said there's only 60k CE's along with 60K codes (some gamestops fubar'd their codes by giving them out and not pre ordering the CE's but oh well). Thats only for North America though. Europe & Aussies got seperate amounts. Most CE's are always limited..thats the whole point
I got my CE right after the announcment from Amazon printed my codes *pets them lovingly* I look forward to it. I mean the Ingame stuff alone is enough to make me happy to spend the money but the addition of the model, the comic, and just the awsomeness of the box...well thats like a total score bonus to me. I really wouldn't consider them running out of CE's as a problem..but as a Serious awsomeness for WAR.

never preordering a mmorpg again tbh

Talking about SWG much?
This MMO is a little different pre order imo. It has the collector edition Warhammer figure which if you do not collect them I am sure be worth a few dollars. It also has some cool other things. If you are not a fan at all then I would not pre order, but I am a Mythic fanboi evn though they boned me with DAOC so I pre-ordered the day they announced it.
However, there are some developers in the market that actually have clout. Their name really is synonymous with things like "quality" and "trustworthy", not to mention "fun". Blizzard has proven itself that way time and again, and Mythic is right up there with them with the long-running DAoC. Back that up with the Warhammer universe, and the clout that EA brings (not to mention that EA is actually leaving Mythic alone to do their work), and you have the right mix for a fun and long lasting title: WAR.
When the time came to make a decision about 2 months ago for preordering a CE, it wasn't that difficult to step up and buy a copy. I spent years in the DAoC universe, and will likely spend many more in Warhammer online.
With less trustworthy developers, or those that aren't proven in the market yet, I completely agree with your assessment, and would do the same thing: just not preorder.
Got my CE pre-order the other week, which was also the last copy they had, which they weren’t even supposed to have...
Read on for a tale of thrilling heroics an… well not really, but feel free to read on if right now, like me, you really are just THAT bored.
I was at the store as they unpacked their allotment of 6 CE pre-order boxes, however only being vaguely interested in WAR at that point decided not to bother; I had brought into the whole ‘nothing but WoW clone’ nonsense, which having played WoW on and off for the better part of 3 years wasn’t a terrible thing, but I am more or less over it.
Having lost my job the week before I had little else to do with my time so I took it apon myself to absorb any and all info relating to WAR and as such found that not only is it not 'nothing but a WoW clone' but is quite possible the MMO I have been looking for; that is, one that doesn’t require you to be part of a large hardcore guild to participate in content beyond ‘kill X badges and bring me there noses’. By the time I got back to the store 2 days later it was to my dismay that I found there were no more CE pre-orders left…
And now, the thrilling conclu… oh, just get on with it… yes, get on with it… and stop trying to be funny by quoting Monty Python…
As luck would have it though I stopped by the next day on unrelated business only to be informed that due to a shipping error they had just received 1 more CE pre-order box, and I think you can guess by the introduction of this post what I did then. (No, not that)
The End. This has been another quality produc…. Walks off to commit suicide in a graveyard… SNAAAAAAAAAKKKKEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Best buy has pre-order boxes with codes in them so I would assume if you got it online you would either pick up the box in a local store or it would be shipped to you. That or they will email it to you like so many online retailers.
Amen.

I think WAR will be great. But I just can't bring myself to pre-order MMOs anymore. Been screwed to many times. You better believe I'll be playing the day it releases though:)
When I saw the CE's come out, I jumped at the chance to get one.
With all the stuff the CE has, all the entertainment their developers have given me in their podcasts, and the fact that EA is pretty much leaving them alone.
You have Mythic and Games Workshop. This product will be no less than excellent.
It's not just that the game might suck, but to bad you pre-ordered. It's that sometimes you don't get the stupid pre-order, meanwhile your friends are buying the game off the shelf.
I don't pre-order MMO gmaes usually.
I did pre-order Warhammer though.
I really hope this game turns out good.
I really like Warhammer, played the tabletop wargame(along with Battletech) for many years.
Got my fingers crossed, and got my pre-order a few months ago and just getting my pre-order codes now.
Still, I hope this game does well.

If I remember right you receive "early access" codes as well from pre-ordfering (ala AoC). This tells me that they may have servers up and running for virtual copies of the game instead of waiting around for the hard copy.

Yes if you pre ordered the CE you get early access meaning your on the live launch servers with a launch client a few days to a week before launch. They stated this on Warhammer Alliance that you have so many days / weeks (no official time period has been postedd but i figure atleast a week) to update your account after the actual launch with the CD key from your actual Game CD before our account is temporarily suspended.
What this means is if you pre order the Ce you get to play...but you do actually have to BUY the Ce...if your CD code when the box arrives is not the CE .. well your fubar'd..if you cancel your CE but still use the codes your Fubar'd if you want to keep going. But you have atleast a week maybe 2 before you have to worry about where your order is.
Its not like Age of Conan's rip off tactics of additional 5 dollars for the 'chance'...its a gaurenteed deal and you dont pay extra. Of course only 60k People in NA (different amounts for each region) will get to do this so they know exactly what to expect on pre launch.
For those afraid of their copy not arriving soon enough..just pay the extra cash for over night.

Amazon is really good about getting their items to you on the day of release. If you pay for the overnight fee you will almost certainly receive the item the day of release. Even when I pre-order movies through them I get it the day of. I actually got my AoC pre-order the Friday before early access started.

Yes preorders are always a disaster. Just wait 15-20 days after the game is released and go buy it on the shelf. I say wait a few weeks because no mmo launches perfectly smooth these days so instead of buying early and being dissapointed just buy it alittle late and enjoy the improved version.
You might find a few left over CE's on the shelf but they won't be available like the Normal one...Plus Only thruogh Pre ordering the CE are you going to get into Open Beta (unless your a contest winner) plus it gets you on the Servers Playing several days to atleast a Week sooner than everyone else (if anything getting on the servers Pre Launch gaurentees you'll get the names you want if thats important too you, and it gets your guild started early so your already established). That alone makes Pre Ordering an MMO game worth it...the CE for WAR just happens to have a load of cool stuff in it that makes it even MORE worth it than any previous CE I've ever gotten in the past.
If it wasn't for the Open Beta invite & the Head Start I could see the reason to wait till AFTER launch if you really hate playing a game at launch. Personally as long as an MMO game works and I can play it...I'll over look minor bugs and glitches. Its when dev's lie about the content or release utter trash like Vanguard that will turn me away. WAR is in seriously good shape...im happy to have my pre order and deal witha broken quest or two if any are broken at launch.
If CE's weren't Limited in Quantity ... I could see your argument. CE's generally appeal to people who are pretty dedicated to seeing the game through (unless the game ultimately fails). I've been following WAR for a long long time..and now that I've gotten to experience Beta I'm really excited about making the Pre Order for my CE. I don't expect the game launch to be perfect...I just expect that what they Promised us..is going to be there at launch.
See I can't stand it when a company promises and promises and promises..then launch day hits and they're all like "OOPS we got your money we had to take those items out" WAR devs have been up front about Telling us of all changes (to beta and non beta peeps) and flat out saying if we're going to remove something we'll tell you. I'm sure that totally freaks out the PR Department but Mythic feels that killing their reputation by Lying (cough Funcom) is a far worse blow than telling the truth.
If you want that CE warror .. I wouldn't suggest waiting 10 to 20 days after launch...especially if the game is good because those things will be snacked up faster than you can say snuffaluffagus.

I'd rather start playing a few days after release and buy the game with some real information than get scammed into paying for something promised and not delivered.

I never said this wasn't a viable choice...the Original post was in relation to the Collector's Edition. Its NOT a viable choice if you want the Collector's Edition. Plus by having the Pre Order for the Collector's Edition you get into Open Beta...if Open Beta Totally Sucks Wind you have plenty of time to Cancel Your Pre Order and You won't Lose a Dime.
Im in the closed beta so im More than happy with making the choice for pre ordering the CE...its living up to what I was expect. This how ever doesn't mean it'll live up to what everyone else is expecting. All I can say is.....that Mythic has not been leading anyone astray with what they've been telling us.

I don't see very much advantage to the early access to be honest, maybe I'm too old now and I don't wake up at 4:30am on xmas morning to see if I can go open my presents....
You make a fairly valid point that you get access to the open beta, I guess it's a 'try before you buy' kind of deal.
.............
dude im 30...lol age is not an excuse...Open Beta, the Minature, The Head Start etc atleast to ME .. everyone's different.
The head start gives me nearly a week to enjoy the launch client before the game goes live...plus I get the Server and the Names I want. ... Im a nerd I can't help myself...screw growing up...I Pay my bills on time I live on my own and I have a good job...so what if I still like RPG games rofl

I'm also 30! ...and heck yeah, the head start to get names on the servers of my choice. Well worth it!
My comments about age were not a dig at you in any way, It was just a way of expressing that I don't have that sense of urgency any longer.

Agreed... I thought they'd be long gone by now. I'm hoping they sell out soon - as soon as they sell out we'll likely get the next round of info on the normal edition pre order and the pressure will be on for OB info to come on out...
