The reason for the competion is to keep as many people playing for as long as possible so that blizz can test the servers thourghly. Anyway, how long till you all think the servers will be back up? Any predictions.
If the stress test goes on a bit longer i might have a chance to keep my char. but i doubt it. School is comming up and thats really gonna kill me. Whats the highest level character everyones seen in the game?
I have read on the blizz forums that there are a couple of high 20's and a lot of low 20's. In three days thats a lot of time spent playing this game!!
realistically if you wanted those beta places you WOULD have to lvl 24/7. And have background knowledge from someone in beta the best way to do it.... Thatll be who gets the places
Then again why rush these things?
Ive used the stress test to test out Ranger to lvl 14 and Warrior (started him 6 hrs ago) to lvl 11 and druid to lvl 3 :P.
Still it gives me an idea how the chars play.
Beta Tested: Lineage 2, Ryzom, City of Heroes, RYL, EverQuest 2 World Of Warcraft European Truly Loved: World of Warcraft
I've been playing ~18 hours a day, so far with the same group of people. We're all in the mid 20's now. I imagine we could have done better, but dwarf priests weren't terribly popular, I guess.
from checking other servers during downtime it looks like the high end is in the mid 20's, with the highest characters being Mages generally. Now how many of those people don't qualify for the contest, I'm not sure. I haven't seen too many Paladins, though, so I'm still hoping.
The first 2 days of stress test i had company stay over at my house and couldn't really play. But man, if it was just me in the house... And no distractions, you'd see an easy level 35 by the end of the stress test.
Do any of you know how and where to train for use of a weapon? Ex. I would like to train my warlock to wield a staff, or a sheild. Are there trainers that let you do this for skill points or are weapons class specific? Thanks

I think you can do that right in the character menu(the skills tab).
I think I remember seeing staves there for my warlock, I don't think a shield, though. As far as I know you can only train the weapon skills that are there...

BWhittle (Blizz Tech guru) had this to say about the server problem:
"Server Status - BWhittle on 09/05/04
We are currently addressing some performance issues with our database clusters. As soon as they are resolved we will be bringing them back up. Thanks again for your patience."
That means they're working on the problem and in probably in the next hour or so, they'll be up and fixed.

this brings up a question...
since the stress test beta was to be only one week.
when is it schedualed to end?
I highly doubt they'll give us more time for these server downtimes, if thats what your getting at.
