Its been a month or so since I finished my trial for lotro. I enjoyed it, but I decided to wait until Mines of Moria was released then I would buy the game, due to all the talk about lotro not having enough content. Now after the new subscription offers, I've been thinking hard about getting the game.
Is there enough content to keep me playing until Mines of Moria is released? Or should I just want for the xpac?
You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

you should have a great time getting to 50, they did a good job at making it a smoother process with lots more quests then before. once you hit 50 there should be enough content to keep you happy until the mines
I play all ghame
I feel the exact same way, that 9.99 offer a month is almost too hard to let go. Im putting AOC on hold untill they finish patching it for the most part. I was contemplating going back to WoW, and then I saw this offer. How close are we untill Moria comes out? Because Frankly I dont want to buy the game and then the expansion 1 month later.
Thanks for the quick reply . Alright sounds like I'm going to be buying lotro this weekend. Can you give me a brief description of each server?( like nonofficial roleplaying servers, most populated servers etc..)

I read somewhere that the release date is fall.

Yeah my only problem is, I really dont want to play a new game and then get dissapointed because the player base is no longer there, or its not going anywhere. Good example is EQ2, the game was fun but the player base is almost non-existant unless you go to the AB server. Very little grouping due to most content being soloable. lol I almost wish another game lik EQ was released that forced you to group for the most part. Only problem there is, if the community goes, the game goes with it lol.
i know brandywine is one of the biggest. I think landroval is the unofficial rp server. Glad to have you aboared! Its great.

This game will be around for a long while. To me and from what I see people saying on the forums is that they feel this game is growing. There are abunch of new people comming as they are getting sick of the direction of WoW and the faults of AoC.

lol true, but if Turbine makes Mines of Moria exciting and dangerous as it's supposed to be. Their subscriber base will definitely grow.

Yeah very true there. Ill have to see whats I am going to do, but thanks for the post. I have to weigh WoW or LOTRO now and see what I want to stick with at least untill Warhammer/Aion comes out, because I have been following both of those for a while now.
Yeah, there's no way to burn through the content by Fall when MoM is supposed to be released (I love how that acronym is an upsidedown WoW). Well, I suppose you might if you're a crazy fast power leveler, but even just fast people will take a while.
And my estimate on the release of MoM is late October or early November.
Check out my LOTRO Blog: www.middleearthadventurer.blogspot.com
hehe I didn't even notice that. Maybe that will mean lotro will dominant once Mines of Moria is released eh? lol I'm not a power leveler so it should take me awhile to get to 50. The only problem I have with the game is that there is barely any pvp, and I love to pvp. Well I guess I'll have to start roleplaying. On the plus side I love lotro and I've read all three lotro books, the hobbit, and the silmarillion. So roleplaying might actually be fun for me for once.

I would say, buy it and give it a shot!
I'm also planning on buying this game in the next few weeks.. I haven't tried the trail yet.. but the game seems to be the thing I'm looking for: A casual game, nice community, nice graphics, a good lore,...

waiting for ... nothing..

There's SOME PvP in a stand-alone zone called the Ettenmoors, but it's basically an exhibition, with no consequences for the PvE world like there is in DAoC's frontier. It's kind of a fun diversion, though, and is the one chance you have to actually play a minion of Sauron as your avatar.
Maybe they'll expand PvP, but I suspect they'll keep focusing on the PvE, since that is where the game shines.
I think they said there will be more PvMP in MoM...maybe a PvMP zone in moria or something.

I can only agree with everything that has been said.
I played LotRO in Beta and after the release, then quit because of lacking content. I returned recently and I was completely surprised about how much work was put into this game in such a short amount of time.
Sure, it doesn't have all the features yet that games have which are longer in the market, but the speed and the creativity of the dev. is surprising. Every update is a big one and brings a lot of new features to the game.
There is a lot of content to keep you busy and there will be another game update before the release of MoM.
The game for me is more enjoyable than other MMORPGS, its a bit more laid back and you don't feel pressured to rush through the game. On my server Nimrodel there is quite a mature community as well, that enjoys the game for what it is and doesn't try to force you making a full time job out of it.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Anarias,
Played WoW, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, LotRO
Great to know . I will definitely be getting lotro. It sounds like lotro has a great community.
Great community= fun game

How large would you say the Ettenmoors is?
I don't completely dislike PvE mmos, but I find fighting human players more of a challenge. Plus does anyone notice how bad AI is in mmos?

The ettenmoors is good size. It is no small battleground were you can run across it in a few seconds. I dabbled in it when i was in closed beta but it wasn't my cup of tea so to speak. But it is definately not a small area.
They said that those who already have the game will be able to buy MoM at a discounted rate online. Since they plane to release MoM with shadows of angmar included for the prize of just the expansion.
Elendilmir is the non official oceanic server, It is also the server that the majority of the closed beta tester kinships decided to call home. So there are people on all times of the day.
You will definately not run out of content before MoM. July they will be releasing book 14 so more content is on the way next month. It is worth getting the game and getting the special pricing. I myself am a lifetime subcriber.
The $9.95 monthly or $199 lifetime deals Turbine is offering for LOTRO are the two best deals in the gaming industry.
LOTRO is definitely growing and I expect a major jump in the population with MoM's release. Definitely get on those deals now. I ended up buying the lifetime memberships. Simply because I didn't want to pay for 3-6 months at $9.95, and then spend $199 to upgrade to the lifetime. I figure even if I only play a year and then come back ever few months over the next five years I will have gotten my money back.
Although there is a great deal of content in LOTRO and it continues to expand.
I really couldnt agree with you more. I dont want a game with forced grouping, i want one where It is encouraged, not discouraged, one where the best rewards (risk vs. reward) come from going to the bottom of a dungeon with a good group. Ive been looking for a game like this for the past few years and havent came close yet.....
199.99 lifetime was what i did when it first came out. it is pretty much a guild wars game to me now so i'll go back when i am done with other mmo's. it is a great plan IMO.
Everytime I see MoM I think of the game Minions of Mirth. It was a little Indy MMO that I played a few years back. It was a lot like EQ. Oh the memories
