In the wall of dispair in which this board has become..I thought I would contrast. Its not Terrible, The sky isnt falling, Wails of frustration are not seeping from the bricks and mortar. AoC is fun, for me. Perhaps not for the 10 posters above and below me. But for me...Im having a good time.
I request that all forum flamers and hate-mongers please form an orderly line below. All posts will be registered and counted

It is pretty sad nowadays when you expect to be flamed or whatever for a post.
I am happy for you, if you like it and are having fun then thats all that matters, who gives a shit what others think is how I feel about things.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

For the random visitors this board may give the impression that AoC is a failure. If you've been here for a week or two, you recognize the names.
Never had as much fun in an MMORPG, Ever.
Every time I turn vent on with the guild, laughter all the time, it can be a great social group experience and as well as a good solo PVE experience.
HURRAY!!!! finally a great post on this!!!! WTG Czzarre!!!!
I don t think many are saying it s a failure at all. Just because i couldn t stand the game(even though i don t own it and never will, played a friends copy), doesn t mean alot wont. Same goes for the ones that like it. If someone says they don t like it, there always seems to be a pattern of, go back to wow, your comp sucks etc. The game isn t for everyone i think we can all agree on this. That said if you re having fun great, alot arent. Not much else can be said about it.
Yeah, most are ex-fanbois who were expecting more than what was delivered and are mad but will try it in a few months.
To the OP: Good, we need more than a handful of fun games in the MMO market.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

I'm glad your having fun. What is it about the game you like the most?
For me it was graphics and music, which are stand out as the best in genre.
We expect nothing else from you Avery. What else can you say. Not exactly liek after hyping the game up for over a yera you can suddenly make a massive uturn.
I expect nothing different from you people like you. Started your campaign of hate bullshit, months b4 release. haven't even played retail...
I am having fun in the game, thats something you cant take away or change.
everyone is entitled to their opinion...good or bad.
The music was great.
Graphics, eh, they were OK. They went for a realistic look, which worked well, but characters just seemed a little lifeless. Environments were good looking though. The problem is the world looked great but then the characters and felt kinda bland. And the jump animation still annoys me.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Personally, I bought the game and gave it a chance. It wasn't for me. I'm glad you are enjoying it and found the game you are looking for. I also would like to know what people truly like about this game as I just don't see it. I liked the graphics, the combat system was fun in pve but I wasn't sure about it in pvp. The broken quests were annoying but forgivable. I think the thing that put it over the edge and caused me to quit was when i almost hit lvl 40 and I still had tortage gear on. Meh, to each their own. Maybe I'll try vanguard.
I think one of the problems is you dont feel like the world is alive. It feels more like a single player game. There really isnt that 'hook' that grabs you and draws you in. It felt more like a co op game than it did an MMO.

actually i think you hit it spot on. Thinking about it, it would def make a great ORPG, like an online version of oblivion, just without the character depth.
The Graphical finese and non spartan landscapes made it very immersive for me. There is always something happening near you, or in your view distance.
I'm happy guild cities are getting NPC's and was very happy watching the walls go up there.
The music was great.

I think that can happen with realistic graphics in particular. I saw The Hulk a couple of days ago and even though the computer generated Hulk was amazingly well done, there was some part of my conscious/unconscious that registered a soullessness in the character, and I got bored with him....as weird as that sounds. The Final Fantasy CG movie was the same way....I just felt a strange disinterest looking at the characters, which made it very hard to enjoy the movie.
I do prefer the more realistic look though. My AOC female avatar was beautiful, better than any other female avatar I have had so far in an MMO. The mens faces were a little rough but I guess that fits with the game.
Although Graphics are a plus, They do not make a game at all. Beauty in and of itself just isnt enough (Check out the third graph down HERE..graphics ranked 4th in importance). HOwever I would say that the biggest impact on any game is who you play it with. If you are soloing the whole way, or in a guild in which a lot of players are disenchanted..its going to affect you. Heck, with the crew I run with I probably could enjoy 3 hour minesweeper marathons. When we rampage through the countryside leveling or raiding in an instance, everyone seems to point out cool things I wouldnt have noticed. That alone adds to the game enjoyment.
I would say, if you are unhappy with the game, but you have only soloed or just randomly chose a guild. If you have time on your accounts...It may be time to go find some new people, not a new game. It cannot hurt and I wager when you find your bunch, you will find that AoC can be a fun time.

The best feature in AoC was the music. I enjoyed it so much I brought the soundtrack.
I wanted AoC to be my PvP game. It was advertised as a PvP centric game and I brought the game only to find the game was a average PvE game with a PvP system bolted on. Sorry I do not call endgame sieges a PvP centric game. I enjoyed my time in AoC but was drawn back to other games after a couple of weeks of play.
I hope AoC is a success, it's a decent game just needs alot of loving.
@OP I'm glad you are enjoying the game m8, to me thats the most important factor when deciding to play a game.
not perfect, but best mmo out.
