the only thing is.. this end game.. or real game as i call it has really nothing to do with content. I dont want raids and epic PVE zones and lvls and shit. I just want a solid system in place that makes PVP a rewarding experience. I dont mean rewarding by gear. i mean rewarding by giving me the feeling that i have somehow inconvenieced the pleyer i kill to a somewhat large extent. Be it by travel time, loss of gear/cash or by just taking him out of the fight for 10-15 mins. This style of PVP needs to happen in open world.. not in instances.. and if people choose to avoid it, create reasons to open world pvp. IE 1 instance so you cant just go and swtich when you are getting your face owned. Overall there is no risk/reward (again see above for my definition of reward) system in place. Sadly enough, the system that they are now hyping with their ALL-Star marketting team is about as appealing to a PvPer as two girls/one cup is to an OBCD hypochondriac.
lamens terms: when i kill someone i want them to face crush their keyboard b/c it sucks to get owned. At the moment, the worst thing you can make someone do is switch instances. totally not satisfying.
I 100% agree with the highlighted part of the quote. This is the reason I played AoC, to PvP. When I played AoC there was no fear of what is around the next corner, no motivation to attack other players. Once the freshness of the combat system/new game waned I couldn't be bothered to attack other players unless I was attacked myself. Hell the only time I attacked someone was because i wanted to get to the other side of the instance and used PvP death as a quick means of travel. The funny thing is a full loot penalty would work wonders in AoC due to the poor itemisation.

As for the greifing comment. Since when does a risk/reward system have anything to do with greifing. In UO when you came near me.. i killed you and your horse. Yea sucked.. you had to pay what 700 gold for a new horse.. oh noes. No gameplay impediment.. nothing but a risk. In SB when i rolled your group.. you lost your inventory, some durability, and spawned by at your city. That gave me at least 15 mins of not having to worry about you. In DAoC , when you died and didn't get ressed you had quite a wait/run to get back to the fight, unless your home keep was being camped. In RFo, you lost chip wars you lost control of the Crag which was used to afk mine for 8 hours whilst sleeping. Risk/reward is not the same as game impediment. In fact i view you spawning over and over as more detrimental to gameplay than anything. Instances in AOC were created for ONE PURPOSE. Server stability. They did not create them for any other reason than they wanted to ease the loads on their servers. I dont spawn camp. I dont grief. I kill you if you are near me. If you are 60 lvls below me, have some respect and avoid me. If i see you near me you die. I want that death to suck enough to make it so next time you choose rather to avoid me than risk it. I really wanted to play this game but when I found out Funcom was involved I decided to wait a year before buying it. I bought AO when it first came out and that was a total mess. I figure in a year or so I MIGHT take a chance....depending if Stargate isn't out by then.
I like this game, i havent had any of the problems with crashes or anything else preformance wise. I can understand how people can feel like they were cheated by Funcom and i hope you find a game that suites you and makes you happy. The only problem i have is that everyone that has a problem with this game has the need to make there own post about this so we have 1000 threads all about the same problem. I just think you guys should all get together and make one thread about why or how the game sucks. It almost makes me feel sorry for WAR coming out cause if something goes wrong then its like an atomic bomb of treads all about the same problems.

This week, players on the test server cried unto the heavens, pleading with Funcom not to release the patch; that it was buggy, unplayable, a disaster waiting to happen. In true MMOG style, the company decided to go with the patch as is. On a Friday no less! Class, would someone like to explain to Funcom why Friday is not a good patch day?
Of course, official comments from Funcom acknowledging they were releasing a whole new batch of bugs with the patch doesnt exactly help their case. To paraphrase: Yes, there are bugs in this patch. But, theyre not as bad as other bugs! We promise!
Its not garbage, otherwise I wouldn't play it for the next 3 months. On the other hand, its not the greatest game ever created but I will do the job of keeping me entertained until WAR launches.
Also, I have a level 51 DT and a level 40 Demo, and 5 others at around 20ish. So I am NOT burnt out on the game.
AoC garbage? I am not so surprised seeing what crappy game AO was so I am glad I didnt waste any time or money on it. Just feel very sad that yet another legendary fantasy creation is being represented by really crappy MMORPGs.

I'm one of the many suffering from the necro nerf-job (6/24). They took a weak class, and made it even weaker, so much so that I can't even play the class anymore. I think I'll go cancel now. Too bad my $15 just got charged.. I wish I knew about the necro-gimp-job so I could have canceled sooner!

Love how all you people are posting 2 lv 80's get a life ect. Simple fact is AoC is easier to level than Guild Wars, I'm not surprised he has 2 max lv characters, I most likely would if I still played this crap. Name any other major MMO that lets you get to max level in 3 days with no end game?

Look at upcoming PVp notes and youll see that this game is going to get worse and worse. Seiging will never be fixed and never be viable for small guilds. End of story.. AoC fails and most likely wont ever be that great like it should have been.
Leveling should not be work, it should be enjoyable. If your just racing to get to level capp in any mmorpg, then this is a NEW GENERATION of mmo players, we should enjoy the journey to level capp and not grim it. (Now I am not telling you how you should play mmorpgs, lets just get that straight).
Apparently we are slammed by -- What Level Are You Now -- in any mmo we play. We want to see TONS of END BOSSES, we are spoiled because of the prior MMOs we have been playing. (I love end content as the next person, so I know what you mean).
We want Phat Loot with Bling, 1 hit trinkets, Big Shiny Swords with flames hitting your ass, Gear that is the 2x the size of the player with radiant light behind ya, pimped ass mounts with wings and last but not least, owning a group of players by yourself in pvp and being #1 in the rank System.
Did'nt mean to turn this into a WoW response, but WoW has changed the way we look at mmo's and expect this in any new mmorpg that comes out. Believe me I am a victim of it too.

WoW did'nt even have BG's and PvP honor when it was released, Molten Core was the only End Game Content, but we accpeted it because it was different in a different time. If a game like this came out again, we would crucify it just because its not bringing anything new that we havent already seen.
We are playing a low fantasy game orientated around PvP sieges and battles as end content, but we still want our RAID Dungeons as well for loot. I understand alot of players being pissed about the PvP system being borked and sieges not running functionally.
Me.. I refuse to play on a PvP server if there is no incentive too PvP (this is what I am pissed off about the game).

haven't read all got stuck on op saying he leveled 2 chars 2 level 80! i've been playing since day one,and i got one guy up to level 50. you might be mistaken a hooker for true love here bubba........

3-5 days? The problem was with repeatable quests.. No it wasnt an exploit.. repeatable quests were just giving way too much XP. Whats funny is that those people :cough :cough Ebonlore.. had their chars to 80 in day 1. But if you bother to read youd see that the lvling done was legit.
Living in Japan and teach english at a school fulltime. If you know anything about Japan.. youll know that fulltime is at minimum like 55+ a week. On top of that gotta keep the GF happy.. otherwise wtf did i move to this crappy country. Yea.. what suffers is my sleep. im averaging a little less than 4 per night now.
So yea.. im not some guy that sits around all day and games.. but i also have quite a busy GD life,
Do not resubscribe and consider coming back in 4-6 months based on how AoC has changed.
There is a patch today and the changes are rolling in the game crazy fast. If you want to play grindfestival games, you should stick with asian games. AoC was not, IMHO, intended for gamers who will grind places like sanctum more than 5 times..... not 15+.
This game is more of a story than a grindfest competition.
Anarchy online now has max levels well in excess of 200+. Im sure AoC will at some point too.
AoC will never be the mountain dew chugging psycho-grindfest that was the "who will be the first to 20 or 40" competition that existed post-beat in Lineage 2.
It was not made for players like that, it is not intended to satisfy that audience.
Perhaps this game is simply to easy and simplistic for someone of your professional gaming style.
IMHO, you should consider coming back later when the game is much more fleshed out & will be able to offer you (hopefully) a richer and more competitive PvP environment.

Im sure it was 'legit' per-se, but I believe this is probably the issue at hand. Although I am sure it is all FunCom's fault and of no fault of your own, I doubt this will remain in-game .. if it hasn't already been removed. The simple fact (imho -- given the conversation in this thread to date) is that you have fallen victim to an unintended abberration in the game which allowed you to burn through the content way quicker than Funcom would have liked.
Fault and emotion aside, the vast majority of the paying community will have to catch up before FunCom addresses issues you are likely to be concerned about at lv80 x2

In SB when i rolled your group.. you lost your inventory, some durability, and spawned by at your city. That gave me at least 15 mins of not having to worry about you. In DAoC , when you died and didn't get ressed you had quite a wait/run to get back to the fight, unless your home keep was being camped. In RFo, you lost chip wars you lost control of the Crag which was used to afk mine for 8 hours whilst sleeping. Risk/reward is not the same as game impediment. In fact i view you spawning over and over as more detrimental to gameplay than anything. Instances in AOC were created for ONE PURPOSE. Server stability. They did not create them for any other reason than they wanted to ease the loads on their servers. I dont spawn camp. I dont grief. I kill you if you are near me. If you are 60 lvls below me, have some respect and avoid me. If i see you near me you die. I want that death to suck enough to make it so next time you choose rather to avoid me than risk it. RISK REWARD.. hmm getting the picture yet? Read any of the LORE? Read any of the the Devs blogs on their "ideas" of the Conan world. What started out as a brutal harsh world has turned into carebear fest where hardcore equates to nothing more than extra blood on fatalities and some tits.
As for exploiting. Maybe you cant read. No exploiting was done for lvling. The game is just plain EASY to lvl up in. All sploits were done for crap gear once i was already 80. Not trying to hide it.. shit everyone was doing it.. everynight there was huge group of people lined up at the Oasis zone entrance in PLS. Heres some good advice. Just b/c someone lvls faster than you, dont cry Sploit or Hax, learn to accept that some people have A. more time B. more experience C. more dedication and D. less of a life than you.
I really wanted to play this game but when I found out Funcom was involved I decided to wait a year before buying it. I bought AO when it first came out and that was a total mess. I figure in a year or so I MIGHT take a chance....depending if Stargate isn't out by then.
I like this game, i havent had any of the problems with crashes or anything else preformance wise. I can understand how people can feel like they were cheated by Funcom and i hope you find a game that suites you and makes you happy. The only problem i have is that everyone that has a problem with this game has the need to make there own post about this so we have 1000 threads all about the same problem. I just think you guys should all get together and make one thread about why or how the game sucks. It almost makes me feel sorry for WAR coming out cause if something goes wrong then its like an atomic bomb of treads all about the same problems.

Its not garbage, otherwise I wouldn't play it for the next 3 months. On the other hand, its not the greatest game ever created but I will do the job of keeping me entertained until WAR launches.
Also, I have a level 51 DT and a level 40 Demo, and 5 others at around 20ish. So I am NOT burnt out on the game.
AoC garbage? I am not so surprised seeing what crappy game AO was so I am glad I didnt waste any time or money on it. Just feel very sad that yet another legendary fantasy creation is being represented by really crappy MMORPGs.

Love how all you people are posting 2 lv 80's get a life ect. Simple fact is AoC is easier to level than Guild Wars, I'm not surprised he has 2 max lv characters, I most likely would if I still played this crap. Name any other major MMO that lets you get to max level in 3 days with no end game?

Leveling should not be work, it should be enjoyable. If your just racing to get to level capp in any mmorpg, then this is a NEW GENERATION of mmo players, we should enjoy the journey to level capp and not grim it. (Now I am not telling you how you should play mmorpgs, lets just get that straight).
Apparently we are slammed by -- What Level Are You Now -- in any mmo we play. We want to see TONS of END BOSSES, we are spoiled because of the prior MMOs we have been playing. (I love end content as the next person, so I know what you mean).
We want Phat Loot with Bling, 1 hit trinkets, Big Shiny Swords with flames hitting your ass, Gear that is the 2x the size of the player with radiant light behind ya, pimped ass mounts with wings and last but not least, owning a group of players by yourself in pvp and being #1 in the rank System.
Did'nt mean to turn this into a WoW response, but WoW has changed the way we look at mmo's and expect this in any new mmorpg that comes out. Believe me I am a victim of it too.
on a side note..
WoW did'nt even have BG's and PvP honor when it was released, Molten Core was the only End Game Content, but we accpeted it because it was different in a different time. If a game like this came out again, we would crucify it just because its not bringing anything new that we havent already seen.
We are playing a low fantasy game orientated around PvP sieges and battles as end content, but we still want our RAID Dungeons as well for loot. I understand alot of players being pissed about the PvP system being borked and sieges not running functionally.
Me.. I refuse to play on a PvP server if there is no incentive too PvP (this is what I am pissed off about the game).
Anyways to wrap it up, we all here on mmorpg.com have a Love, Hate relation with AoC. Will this game fail? Highly doubt it, its going to be around for quite some time (imo)...

There was a exploit early into AoC and ppl and some got there characters to level 80 in like 3 to 5 days. Funcom has resolved that issue, but I dont think everyone was caught or they found a way to justify their actions.
There were a few guilds that bragged on getting to 80, however I dont think they play anymore and are probably haters of the game now.

3-5 days? The problem was with repeatable quests.. No it wasnt an exploit.. repeatable quests were just giving way too much XP. Whats funny is that those people :cough :cough Ebonlore.. had their chars to 80 in day 1. But if you bother to read youd see that the lvling done was legit.

Living in Japan and teach english at a school fulltime. If you know anything about Japan.. youll know that fulltime is at minimum like 55+ a week. Do not resubscribe and consider coming back in 4-6 months based on how AoC has changed.
There is a patch today and the changes are rolling in the game crazy fast. If you want to play grindfestival games, you should stick with asian games. AoC was not, IMHO, intended for gamers who will grind places like sanctum more than 5 times..... not 15+.
This game is more of a story than a grindfest competition.
Anarchy online now has max levels well in excess of 200+. Im sure AoC will at some point too.
AoC will never be the mountain dew chugging psycho-grindfest that was the "who will be the first to 20 or 40" competition that existed post-beat in Lineage 2.
It was not made for players like that, it is not intended to satisfy that audience.
Perhaps this game is simply to easy and simplistic for someone of your professional gaming style.
IMHO, you should consider coming back later when the game is much more fleshed out & will be able to offer you (hopefully) a richer and more competitive PvP environment.

Im sure it was 'legit' per-se, but I believe this is probably the issue at hand. Although I am sure it is all FunCom's fault and of no fault of your own, I doubt this will remain in-game .. if it hasn't already been removed. The simple fact (imho -- given the conversation in this thread to date) is that you have fallen victim to an unintended abberration in the game which allowed you to burn through the content way quicker than Funcom would have liked.
Fault and emotion aside, the vast majority of the paying community will have to catch up before FunCom addresses issues you are likely to be concerned about at lv80 x2
