release is going to be at least another year away, they said that hopefully alpha testing will start next year... i'm guessing at least fall next year at the earliest.
wait! there is a released combat prototype which is pretty good for a pre-alpha and soon as you download it and patch it your away and fight in a big fight
to mine: buy a shuttle land on an astroid wait for your hold to get 100 then dock into your battleship and repeat process - this is the main way of getting the Carrier
to ianD, i downloaded the combat prototype not long ago. its promising, just a pity that there never seems to be anymore than 4 people online for it at once.
I'll admit myself this game looks amazing. Can't wwait for the release or at least a Beta. Versus EVE it looks pretty good.....I think I'll download that prototype thing.
When the guy making this game first conceived of it nobody was using procedural generation in MMOs, but he's taken too long to develop it. Already MMOs utilizing procedural generation are being developed, Star Trek Online is one such example.
My guess? 4 years, if ever. I could see development being halted in favour of simply creating and selling the game engine.
It is a small group of developers working on a game that is taking in all the feedback from the community and even using some of their models to make a game. This is a community driven game and yes there might be a pay to play option. But if there isn't and the game is free no one can really complain about that. Infinity looks like it will still have the superior engine compaired to STO cartoonish style graphics. Infinity is about realism as well. It may take some time but i'm sure when it is released it will outlast the competition.

Hmm I would guess release in 2 years if they keep up the pace.
