It’s a matter of personal taste (as always). Get a trial account for both games and then safely decide which one you prefer

Personally, I'd say EQ2. At the very least the community is better.

You can buy the battlechest edition of WoW for 29-39 dollars and get the base game and expansion.

Yeah, you can do the same for EQ2. There's nothing special about a release of the base game and all expansions for $39. The difference is that EQ2, also includes the adventure packs.

    I would say WoW over EQ2   65/35 %, don't get me wrong EQ2 is a great game.

WoW has much better maps. EQ2 you have to search the internet very hard and use multiple sites to understand the world.

WoW has better world graphics, and much more lush. however EQ2's latest expansion pack equals WoW's graphics, but thats only a new 1-20 area.

WoW has most  servers full, and very easy to find groups. EQ2 you must be very social and sometimes pushy to get the most from it. EQ2 could be dead during the day, and does not pick up until late evening, if you live on the east coast.

I'm having a lot of fun with EQ2 and can squeeze the fun from it using the knowledge from other games, but you must squeeze and thats the best way I can put it !

I would say WoW also, given ive play both, WoW have more players and thus bring about better community/ trade  if you are a harvester or crafter, and also the animation is much smoother than EQ2.

I think it comes down to if you mind grinding for a long while in order to reach the level cap. It also depends on what your play style is like and what you would like to do in that game.

If you want to shoot to end game fast WoW would be your game, but if you love lore and long quest lines that could take about a month to finish and dont mind taking awhile to get max lvl then EQ2. But it really all comes down to want you like *and what your system can handle*.

WoW is a great starter MMO for those who are new to the MMO world because it is much easier to just pick up and start playing

Where as in EQ2 is a more indepth game that does take a little more work to get started.

EQ interface, download the EQ2 map program.

My vote would be for Vanguard though.

I'm not so sure I would agree on the group thing.  I also play both games.  I stopped playing wow like 3-4 months ago but when I was playing getting groups was pretty much impossible other then running instances.  And running instances almost always ment having a high lvl person run around and kill everything so you could complete quests.  I played upto maybe lvl 62?  beginning of burning crusade content, before I canceled.  EQ2 on the other hand I've always had good luck getting groups and they might have a high lvl person but that person is mentored so the runs are always fun and you feel like you are actually adventuring not running around and looting everything.

EQ2 pops seem kinda slim but at higher lvls it is a lot better to play and I'm playing on the najena server so it isn't one of the more populated ones.  My lvl 70 character never has much problem getting a group and there is rarely an evening that chat isn't showing at least 2-3 times in an hour or so where people are looking to add players to groups.  One of the great things about EQ2 is the whole mentoring thing.  You can always go an mentor with other players to get everyone at the appropriate level and you can play with people no matter what their levels.

The "adventure packs" in WoW have always been free, so there is no reason to distinguish them as some sort of perk or savings.

EQ2 I say, better graphic's, more play options, bigger background, better more mature players, SoE also has a better deal pack where you can also get 5 other major game Titles all for the same monthly sub fee.

Really the best advice is to try both and see what you like. In my opinion they're both great games, I've played them both extensively, but I guess I consider EQ2 more of my home game.

They are both pretty good, i would personally go with EQ2 though, better community, better graphics, and its more challenging... the only downside is there isn't as much pvp as wow, if that matters to you.
