However KK will have to find other methods of payment if they actually want players to join. Having to give an online company (click2pay) your Social Security Number and let them run a credit history check on you simply so you can play a game is ridiculous.
Well, I was a total NC fan from month one of retail, right the way through to about 4 months ago, when they put off B:DoY until September 1st, that was the last straw for me, and for many, many NC players. I'll admit, the game was amazing, and am sure its even better, hearing how they are cracking down on exploiters and cheaters, but KK's delays and lack of balancing the game just got to much for me. I have 4 capped chars on uranus, 1 on pluto, 2 on venus, all with slotted rares, MC5's etc etc, I played the game to death and loved it, the PvP is unrivaled in any other MMPORG, but KK's legendary release date delays, and the hundreds of holes in the game led me and many others to leave.
The game could be so GOOD, which is what makes the scenario so tragic. There is so much potential content in a post-apocalyptic world like Neocron, the game COULD be huge, but it always seemed to me that KK "couldn't be bothered", the patches never added much content, if any, only minor fix after minor fix.
I will keep up-to-date on how B:DoY goes, if it has as little content as I expect it to have I won't come back, and I doubt many of the "old veterans" will be back either, or not back for long in any case.
Enough whining about KK, they made a great game, but it could be so much better.

I think when it comes to patches and added content too much is expected of KK's team (remember, the team compiles of around 10 people compared to the likes of SOE, that have hundereds) and they had to set their priorities to fixes. I really hope after NC2 is released the team is expanded so that more content can be added. However I guess this all depends on how sucessful it is. Lots of factors to depend on.
I wouldn't even consider going back just based on weather or not the game was fun unless they completely overhauled the way the game works in terms of risk/rewards for pvp, roleplaying, missions, and also game balance.
I left some time ago when they were already amping up the game for DOY. Last thing I remember was them putting rediculously powerful guards all over everywhere so players could not go anywhere their faction didn't control (which the players can't change in cities) and couldn't raid each others HQs or fight in the ghettos for fun and stuff, which was the most fun activity and what everyone did at the time.
Also PVP was screwed because they reduced dropped items to only things which cost alot from NPC's but have no value to other players (because they usually don't match what the other person uses) and on top of that made it so only hackers could get them and had no incentive to share with other people. Net result is that pvp cost a buttload of money and you don't have a signifigant chance to get anything out of it.
Clan activities were also retarded because the only thing signifigant they could do was capture OP's which really didn't do anything. THey only give 10k a day which is peanuts, and a little bonus to research and construct (only half the OPS did this) which many constructors didn't really need. Most of the time people didn't even bother with them.
I have checked back from time to time and have not seen anything which indicates they were about to grow a brain regarding game balance and organizing the game so it was fun. I think one thing people were confused about regarding this game is that the original formula for the game was actually good and made the game fun to play, but it was either a complete accident that this was the case or they did not follow the original plan because the game was slowly ruined over time in terms of fun.

They changed that. You don't need to tell anyone your social security number, and you can pay with VISA, Mastercard and other cards now.
