Requiem - It's not bad.

Bored at wok so I wrote this up. . . already posted it on some other boards on this site, figure it wouln't hurt here.

I'm not the type to play or even like F2P mmo's, although I've sampled many (Cabal, Last Chaos, Archlord, Shaiya, Rappels, Perfect World, etc). I must say, this is surprisingly better than I expected--assuming you compare it to other F2P mmo's.

Graphics are comparable to Archlord, but a bit more heavy on the gore. If you prefer W, A, S, D - style of movement, Requiem's implementation is better than Archlord's.

The game has seperate PVE and PVP servers, whereas some games just throw eveyone onto the same server and PVE ppl have to contend with PVP ppl (I'm a PVE guy myself). I believe it has it's own version of WOW-type battlegrounds, but I've not tried it.

The game is not heavily instanced, except for dungeons like these:

In this respect, it is not so instance-heavy like Guild Wars, AOC or EQ2.

The game just launched, so there are some lag issues, issues with players disconnecting, and some quests are bugged--but then again, I've encountered these launch issues in AOC and WOW too.

The game is F2P, although users that pay the monthly fee (anywhere from $7 - $15) enjoy certain benefits like faster XP while leveling, higher drop rates on loot and less XP loss on death (as you lose XP when you die).

Free players cannot use regional chat, only local (imagine playing WOW but only paying customers could participate in or read the barrens chat). This makes the game seem dead for free users as there is little on- screen chatter unless you get into a town or populated area.

The upside is that there is less gold-seller spam (unless the gold sellers feel like paying a monthly fee to advertise in regional chat). There is talk of a LFG tool to help player form quests since regional chat for free players isn't an option.

If you're a fan of the tried-and-true elves/ high fantasy genre, you probably won't like this game.

My 2-Cents.

I like the game a lot.

I try not to listen to people when they say a game is horrible. I think it has a lot of potential. I haven't have the opportunity to see everything yet, but so far, the game is pretty decent.

Better than any other FTP game out there. I cant believe it's this good considering its FTP.

Its gets alot better once you get out of Crescent or Turba.  Just got to Parness for the first time and I am really digging the environment design.  Although I still don't like some of the sparseness in areas.

This isn't a fantasy game lol.

The story is that future got hit by a meteor with zombies and infections aboard.

But, its still more fantasy since you are using swords but there is like metal fences etc here and there.

Please do not hype any gam.. oh wait, nevermind... forgot what forum I was on.
