Without a named publisher that has been in the gaming industry they are taking a huge risk. When the game releases in a poor ass state it will be even worst and well in the end then the publisher didn't even matter. If they have a good product and a bad publisher that's like throwing your money down a shit hole that already has too much shit in it.
They is selfpublishing in Europe, didnt you know that? And on a smooth well polished release with all features in like Tasos told us some months ago it will be jackpot for Aventurine. The money will come pouring in.
I heard its rumours about Ubisoft or Codemasters as publishers in North America, big enough for you?
That's funny, you're claiming they're self publishing ( same as Tasos claims ), and yet they just hired a "publisher".
Far as the Ubisoft/Codemaster rumors, they're just that: rumors: spread by Tasos.
I see the community has already discovered a couple of news items so I'll briefly comment on them:
As we've mentioned before we had been working on a self-publishing deal, and we've signed with AudioVisual Enterprises to work with us on the European distribution end of Darkfall's publishing. We will make an official announcement on this when it's time for it. Being a public company they are obligated to make a report of their dealings to the stock market and that's the announcement you read about. We're very happy to be working with them especially since we participate in the management of the project.
First off, if they were just distributing, their would be no need for deciding on "royalties", pal. A distributor solely for the purpose of making and distrbuiting discs get's a flat rate, like any other service. A publisher gets a percentage cut, which Tasos already said these guys are getting.
Oh, and you left out his little cover-up attempt fron that same link:
About an article that appeared on a Greek game site on a short presentation I made at a Greek game developer conference, it's obvious that it contains many inaccuracies and mistakes due to limited knowledge on our game and company. I'm misquoted and misrepresented in the article and I sent them a correction request a few days ago but I see they haven't fixed it yet.
Sorry, a little goof I could understand, but completely misstating Tasos entire working history to make him look like a guy with real experience? Sorry, those guys printed what they were told. You think Tasos didn't know what was in that article before it was printed? The way he has to have a tight information control hold on everything Darkfall? You're deluding yourself if you believe that.
What I said about Neocron specifically is that before Darkfall, the principles of Aventurine had looked at that game as a possible MMO title to be involved with.
Now this sounds like a little goof, and is the only part which is even remotely believable.
Ok, we have about 6 months left before the game is being release. How long does it takes to start from beta, to comfirm the software to being ship, to burn to dvd, to printing and to deliver world wide? or at least Europe?

Yup its nice to see that Tassos seem to have alot of earlier experience from developing games like Age of Empire and Asheron`s Call. Seems there were some misquoting on that interview that will be corrected asap. Whether its about his earlier experience as a developer isnt known though. He seem to have worked as a programmer since -84 which make him a veteran by now.
Good to know we have such a experienced Developers like Tassos on the Aventurine crew.

I'd just wait and see which things were wrong in that article.
Trolls are funny, finally good news for Darkfall, and they start flaming Greece. While Greece is a better place to live in atm then the US... :}
Anyway, that company might be useful to to distribute, as movies need to get distributed too. And I'm pretty sure Audio Visual Enterprises won't screw up the development . Something I'm rpetty sure off SOE would do.
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
It matters because like I said Eve online signed with a unknown distributor and they dropped the ball big time for them.... luckily the game itself was good enough to pull through... all this is meaningless really. The only thing that matters is how good the game is and this bit of news doesn't in anyway say if the game is good. If anything , it says it's medicore at best if they couldn't sign with a more well known distributor for ALL of Europe. That's a big market. They may be trying to hold on too tight to their product which in the end could end up being a bad thing if they sacrafice quality distribution and support. Why didn't they just go straight to Direct2Download? Than you don't need any distributor or printed media.
A quote from Greek guy on Darkfall main forum - Seems Audiovisual is a respected company.
This is HUGE news and proves beyond any doubt that the game is 100% real.
Audiovisual is a very old and respected company and quite big in distribution of motion pictures and videos, after that deal its really safe to asume that indeed DARKFALL IS COMING

Hate to break the news to you Aragon but SnailGames was / is about 100 x more known and is an experienced video game publisher in Asia.... Yet they still chose to publish one of the , if not the biggest piece of shit ever with Dark and Light.
So please explain to me how Aventurine hiring some unknown CD replication company means that Darkfall is good??
It doesn't.
Just because AudioVisual isnt a american company dont mean they can still be a respected and serious company with awsome resorces and good quality. Or do you disqualify all companies that isnt from the good old USA?
I think i choose to believe my Greek friend above that i quoted on this and not the american vaporvare troll and nay-sayer.
ROFL, well said.
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
"In a separate announcement noted that for the purpose Audiovisual will create a new section Gaming Division paying royalties to the above beneficiary than 35% of sales. "
Actually it appears Aventurine owns 35% of Audio Visual Enterprises Gaming Division; I will have to do a little bit more research to confirm (time to call my broker). If this is the case they will be self-publishing.
Hi all this is Mefistofelis since i have been quoted i thought i drop by....
Ok this is my first reply here and i must warn you that my english are ruther rusty, thanks for the patience and understanding.
The first issue i would like to adress is about Audiovisual and Prooptiki....I want to inform you all that Audiovisual is probably the BIGGEST distribution company in Greece with almost 30 years of history in the distribution business and constant grownth to the rest of europe. They are not a no name small conpany that poped out of nowhere and they are as pro as it gets, any Greek fellow can assure you about this statement.
Since the deal between Aventurine and Audiovisual is a fact (notifications for the stock market, and the statement from Tassos)There is NO DOUBT that this game exists.
I must assure you that i am not a fanboi or a blind follower of this game and i was VERY sceptic about it since i never heard of Aventurine in the past even though i play games for about 20 years now,but since this deal being made with Audiovisual there is not a single doubt in my mind anymore about Darkfall.
The basic trouble from now on is to verify that the features promised are in place and of course who is gonna be the publiser for america since Audiovisual is responsible only for Europe.
One last thing about the game and Audiovisual...
We all know that Audiovisual is making a gaming department espacially for Darkfall and feature games distribution, that alone shows us that Audiovisual has great faith for the financial success of Darkfall otherwise they wouldnt even bother to discuss on publishing it,in that basis we can safely speculate that not only Darkfall is 100% real but its also gonna be a winner in the tough market of MMOs.

Most of us already appreciate AVE is a relatively large European distribution company with respectable credentials. What we are concerned about is they apparently have no prior experience in publishing or distributing games or online games.
Since the deal between Aventurine and Audiovisual is a fact (notifications for the stock market, and the statement from Tassos)There is NO DOUBT that this game exists. Yes, but exactly what state does is exist in, many of us feel that still remains to be fully disclosed at this time, despite this somewhat reassuring deal.

Many of us will continue to have at least a few doubts until we start seeing the game demonstrated, many less then successful games have successfully acquired publishers in the past, and getting a publisher is not necessarily a definite guarantee of success.
The basic trouble from now on is to verify that the features promised are in place and of course who is gonna be the publiser for america since Audiovisual is responsible only for Europe. I agree, but don’t forget beta either, still a lot to accomplish with only 6 months left.

We can certainly speculate but many of us wont feel that we are safe in those speculations before more information is revealed.

Most of us already appreciate AVE is a relatively large European distribution company with respectable credentials. What we are concerned about is they apparently have no prior experience in publishing or distributing games or online games. Well i can answer to that with an example...lets say the job of a composer,if he had a deal to compose something for a tv comersial it would be very similar composing something for a game trailer and vice versa. My point is that Audiovisual is a publishing and distributing company and shouldnt have any trouble doing the same with a game as a well as they do it with movies, the actuall steps they need to take are somewhat the same.A first step Audiovisual took to prove their professionalism is the immediate cover of the lead possisions of their computer games department, and i think that this is very reassuring.
Why should they search for a publish/distribution company, close a deal and publish all this in the stock market in the first place if the game is far from ready to be published/distributed,it really doesnt make any sence... they could continue as normal.
I must assure you that i am not a fanboi or a blind follower of this game and i was VERY sceptic about it since i never heard of Aventurine in the past even though i play games for about 20 years now,but since this deal being made with Audiovisual there is not a single doubt in my mind anymore about Darkfall. I can't believe for a second that Audiovisual would close a deal with Aventurine and make a new games department especially for them without double checking Darkfall dont you think?Demostrations are needed you are corect lets hope that they will start coming,as for success if Darkfall is as promissed to be it will defenately rock the world of MMOs
The basic trouble from now on is to verify that the features promised are in place and of course who is gonna be the publiser for america since Audiovisual is responsible only for Europe. I agree, but don’t forget beta either, still a lot to accomplish with only 6 months left. Yes indeed 6 months left, the first part of the job is done though..(finding distributor for Europe)now they must determine the american publishing company(a company that will not ask for an arm and a leg ofc) and start the beta,i think that the next 3 months will be very hard on them until they have it all ready and start the beta,i also think that its gonna be a race to be ready at the christmass holiday perriod.
One last thing about the game and Audiovisual... We can certainly speculate but many of us wont feel that we are safe in those speculations before more information is revealed. As i said above if darkfall was vaporware aventurine wouldnt be able to close that deal with audiovisual and if all this where just empty rummors they would not be posted at the stock marker sheets. From now on i think that our worries should not be about vaporware or not but if the game is actually as promissed i would not want to see a second aoc this year.
If Darkfall was dumb enough to let SOE publish this game I would never even bother reading about Darkfall again in my life. Better a small or unknown publisher than a known crap publisher.
Crap publisher? A company that polish up EQ2 and VG crap???
I dont care which company publish it, as long as this game get publish and whatever things the DEV claim is inside i will play....
I agree, whoever publishes / distributes it is not really relevant as long as they do a competent job, what's of real importance long term is what’s actually in the box.
Eve Online had a very poor publisher / distributor for launch but because of the actual success of the game despite this hindrance they have managed to overcome those initial problems.
If Darkfall really is anything like what the developers have been telling us it is, its going to practically sell itself as long as people can actually physically buy a copy.
If they announce a US publisher within the next few weeks, they still have around 6 months left available for public beta.
But until they announce a US publisher, start public beta and start demonstrating Darkfall publicly I’m still feel there’s grounds for considerable concern.
At first I had no clue what was ment by this publishing deal, I don't think anyone did but it seems that Aventurine SA has funded the AudioVisual Enterprises up to the tune of 25 million euros, they basically picked out the most well known publisher in Greece and signed a deal with them funding them so that they could publish Darkfall in EU; not sure if this is only in Eu or not. Aventurine probably ownes stock in this company now, not sure how much but if they threw 25 mil euros at them then it's safe to say that Aventurine is in the driving seat.
Aventurine SA seems to be interested in having a stake in a publishing or in this case a distribution company you know printing, packaging and distributing the product.
BTW the company that ownes EVE online also onwes or has a stake in the publishing/distributing company that they use to distribute their game.
This is good news, although we still have no clue about the eventual release of the game. But they seem to have quite a bit of money to throw at people to get what they want, so thats a plus.

Nope, nope, nope it's not. Tasos would also give you a burger tell you it was a whopper and when you bit in it, it was filled with shit. He'd also lay a deuce in your urinal because he is such a douchebag. No money is rolling into Aventurine, the small as crew that actually believes this shit is going to shine a big frickin light in the sky and solve the riddle of life, oh and point out where the fountain of youth is while jacking you off smoothly, is a very small number.
It's ok though Aragon, Tasos still loves you and always will. He thinks of you when he plays his ipod filled with Katy Perry and hums to his favorite song "I kissed a girl".
lol... I gotta say it's the most polite and respectful way i could adress to anyone still believing in that uber piece of worthless vaporware trash called Darkfall.
Thank you for finding the words, but most importantly: For having the guts to write them out loud in a forum where you get banned for saying "poop".
There, i said it. Which means i probably won't be able to post under this account for a few weeks

Ubbergober I don’t even no where to begin with your post so I’m not even going to attempt it.
I would simply advise you to read the translations of the releases about the deal much more carefully then you did before making this post.
I have conveniently provided some which I think are the clearest (obvious not clear enough for some) at the beginning of this post and some information about this company as well.
Or you can do a quick google search and translate them yourself.
This is good news and hopefully it means Darkfall is closer to releasing, but crazy ill-informed fantasy’s like yours will just further discredit this company and its community's reputation even further if developed into another myth that’s constantly propagated.

LOL If Aventurine had 25 mill to give to anybody than they would also have a 100 man team of seasoned pro's and Darkfall would have been done years ago.
Now I know why this vaporware actually has any kind of following at all if there's actually ignorant people out there who believe shit like this.
Oh and Aragon is Tasos's little friend he visits at night. Either that , or he's Tasos himself.

If the Aventurine gang got their hands on 25mil they would just dissappear in an exotic island. That is what they are trying to do all these years.
This is my interpretation of what I have found and translated about this deal so far , if people are going to present different interpretations please at least read the translations carefully and familiarize yourself with the basic information about AVE.
So far Aventurine has not publicly disclosed any information about this deal or any specific information about when Darkfall will be published, released, distributed etc.
Except to acknowledge there has been a distribution deal with AVE for Europe.
The 25 million euro bond is nothing to do with Aventurine, A majority of the general meeting of shareholders in AVE voted to issue a bond for 25 mill euros to set up a new game division in AVE
Aventurine are co-operating with AVE’s gaming division for the sole purpose of printing, distribution and operation of online games in all countries of Europe.
AVE’s new gaming division will be paying Aventurine 35% royalties from all sales and operating profits from Darkfall.
Aventurine get nothing from this deal until they produce an online game, like Darkfall to be distributed by AVE that can be operated as an online subscription game.
??? 25 million is a lot of money in any industry. Give me 25 million dollars and 3-4 years and I'll give you a moderately successful MMO. It won't have all the features Darkfall does/claims nor will it be all you want it to be since it would be designed, engineered and marketed to make a profit (ie the carebear/casual/social stuff, or the Asian Grindtm DF fans seem to hate combined with micro transactions), but it will be out and it will be successful enough to recoup costs and run black. By the way, 25 million is enough to pay 100 programmers and their hardware and infrastructure for a couple of years and still have a lot of money left over.
Edit: I just read it's euros (makes sense), which makes it even easier.

I agree that 25 million is a lot of money, but the whole "give me the money and i'll make you a successful mmo any day" pisses me off so much!

They hired a distributor for the game.

Trolls are funny, finally good news for Darkfall, and they start flaming Greece. While Greece is a better place to live in atm then the US... :}
Anyway, that company might be useful to to distribute, as movies need to get distributed too. And I'm pretty sure Audio Visual Enterprises won't screw up the development . Something I'm rpetty sure off SOE would do.
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
A quote from Greek guy on Darkfall main forum - Seems Audiovisual is a respected company.
Audiovisual is a very old and respected company and quite big in distribution of motion pictures and videos, after that deal its really safe to asume that indeed DARKFALL IS COMING
Fuck you,fuck you,fuck you.Who's next?
ZOMG!
Someone pinch me. I must be dreaming!
Progress progress! In 2010 we will be playing this game I know it!
R.I.P Chikaca Whachuchu
Thanks for reading,best regards
Mefistofelis
If Darkfall was dumb enough to let SOE publish this game I would never even bother reading about Darkfall again in my life.
Better a small or unknown publisher than a known crap publisher.
Crap publisher? A company that polish up EQ2 and VG crap???
I dont care which company publish it, as long as this game get publish and whatever things the DEV claim is inside i will play....
RIP Orc Choppa
So this is how myths are born? Cool.
Shit, I can also build myself an ice shanty and call myself a global fisherman, I import and export mackerel but in reality I sit in my damn ice shanty twiddling my thumbs.

God is a fucker send me to hell

If the Aventurine gang got their hands on 25mil they would just dissappear in an exotic island. That is what they are trying to do all these years.
Ohh, and 25 mill are soooo much money in the computer industry. Hiring one hundred extra programmers and getting hardwere and room for them is free.
I hope it will cover the downpayment to get DF running.
Get a grip with reality man.
