ye,  but when I press english,   I wait,  and wait,  and site cant be found

  • OyjordOyjord Member UncommonPosts: 571

It looks like a slightly stylizied (comic?) version of UO (by looking at the screenshots in the .pdf in the French forums).  I couldn't figure much else out, but for an isometric 2d game, it looked to have potential.

The english side of this games site seems to be either lagged out or whacked out..Iv e tried signing up for an account probably 15x and each time i got ::

    Server Error in '/' Application.

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

So..is  this a UO clone?? does anyone know? for example with crafting, housing, and the likes?? If so someone should plop a sticky into LFg forum

im probably one of the few who remember this. they did have some sort of closed beta way back when, seems more like 2000 than 2002 to me but ill take your word.

its cell shaded i believe, graphics looked like a comic strip. wasn't up very long so i dont remember much, but i remember you could play as orcs or ..ghouls maybe? been many years and many games so not sure. i do remember they had a mage with a tornado spell that would just own full screens.

    Soo,

yesterday 3 hours later than announced, the beta started :) they had many problems with the server at the beginning, cause they run for the first time with that much people i think.

I think for the same reason some of u cannot reach the EN website or create an account. Today it sould be better.

I played just 1h, cause the server chrashed oftem and there was allways an exp whipe. But i cann tell u, this game seems to be really cool.

I was in the beta way back when. I was the templar or somethin like that don't remember, I got to very high lvls, pvp in the game was cool, I wish it had been completed and released.

  • DarkHandDarkHand Member Posts: 10

Ah found it, I was a phalanx, its kind of like a tank with different auras. Very very strong defence.

  • macpetemacpete Member UncommonPosts: 64

I've downloaded the game and created an account but haven't played yet (only a few minutes to check if it runs).

As I've written on the official BBS, I met someg graphic glitches but other than that the game seems to work under Vista (I'm using a MBP with Boot Camp).

I can't make any comment about the gameplay mechanics yet but I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of informations on the website. Also, the fact that the players need a web browser to log-on and play isn't that bad but ... why only MSIE? :(

Anyway, the art directions seems fantastic and the devs are very warm and helpful.  Interesting project ...

    This game is great fun!

Cool classes to pick from, and the graphics look really neat (think a scanner darkly)

Had no problem signing up, don't think I saw a single word in french.

    Give this one a try!

They had many problems with the server at the beginning, cause they run for the first time with that much people

Now it's running well, but there are some bugs to be fixed

  • macpetemacpete Member UncommonPosts: 64

It seems that last week a lot of stability issues has been fixed (server-side) by the devs and this morning I've also discovered that the nasty graphical glitches that plagued the old BMC's engine (when run with current GPUs) has been fixed as well. Now it's a good time to enter the beta :)

The artistic direction is out of this world ... everything you see in-game has been hand-drawed ... I will post some screenies ASAP.

A truely horrible game only due to its terrible movement system. If movement was perfected, this game would rock. I really do think it rocks, but i will not play it due to the movement issues.

Well, BMC uses a rather typical control scheme for an isometric RPG ... Jeff Vogel's RPGs, DOFUS, Daimonin and lots of other similar games rely on similar control schemes. You can't rotate the camera in BMC so I think that the classic point&click/cursor keys formula works better than WASD ...

Thats not the problem, Ultima onlines movement cheme was much improved over this one. you get stuck half the time in random places and a lot of the time your movement doesnt register right.

  • macpetemacpete Member UncommonPosts: 64

You're right, UO has evolved a lot during its long life. BMC's control scheme is a bit stiff - to be honest -  but the environment exploration is so on-rails that all these movement restrictions don't hurt me a lot.

This game has some really  old-fashioned gameplay mechanics and relies on pretty obsolete technologies but I found that he story and the artistic direction are intriguing (I'm also reading the graphic novel) and that's why I've decided to follow its development (I'm not playing it at the moment).

It is likely that their decision to go P2P will meet a failure ... I hope they will switch this payment method to something more tollerable like, say, buy--to-play ...

Anyway, I'd prefer playing this old and stylish UO clone rather than most of the crappy F2P asian MMOs that are springing up everywhere  ... but maybe I'm just getting old.

(Puts Mosrael back into his bandolier)

I just stumbled across this game while looking up something totally unrelated (think it might have been who holds the current higher Donkey Kong score ). It's a fun game - the artwork is interesting, and the dialog and dialog choices are translated MUCH MUCH better than Dofus. I can only hope they will have a F2P basic package and an enhanced subscription package, because I don't think anyone will pay 12.99 for it . Also some widescreen support or at least an option to put the game into windowed mode would be especially nice. Here's hoping they survive...
