EQ2 Starter Kit Problem

in Everquest II

I'd like to thank those of you that assist me with this little problem ahead of time for your help...ok here goes...I pre-ordered EQ2 so in turn got the starter kit..I have tried everything to get this bad boy to work....every time I get to the section where it says "adding character to game world" it locks up on me....I've tried everything but a sledgehammer and I'm getting close....please help me...I'm foaming at the mouth at this point =(

    It seems like a common problem with the starter disk, as quite a few people post problems with that. What are your specs?

    I'm running a Gateway 2.5 gig 512 ram geforce 5

    What are the game's requirements?

    -Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
    -Processor: 1GHz or greater
    -RAM: 512 MB
    -Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible. Pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 64 MB of texture memory
    -Sound Card: DirectSound compatible audio hardware

    those are the lowest reqs, what type of geforce card is it, may not have pixel and vertex shader

    or you might need to upgrade directx or your drivers

    I just checked my specs...Geforce4 ti 4200 (gateway)  it's updated...Pentium 4 2.53 Ghz and my os is windows xp...512 ram....I'm at a loss...I've tried everything under the sun besides call tech-support...is there a number available for starter kit?image

    cant really say what the problem is, but it is listed at the low end range on performance.

    yeah im getting the geforce fx 5700, it runs about 130-140$ which falls under mid range, so its not too expensive and should give me good framerates.

    whoah u can upload your character to the game world? I dont get that option.  Do  you mean you can create your character and reserve that name and appearence in the servers?  Or do you mean that you can't get the custom character generation to boot?

    Cause I got the creation discs too and I dont see a Adding Character to Game world" option anywhere

    Yep..I checked it again, not only do I not get the option of creating a character...but my non-existing character somehow is being added to a gameworld, of course that 's where my computer freezes up...freezes up so much in fact that my only option is flipping the switch on the tower..I cant even cntl-alt-del out of it <shrugs>image

    turn off your Anti-virus program image.  See if that helps

    image It didn't work..I even deleted the game from my system...turned off anti-virus then reinstalled...to no avail...my last option I think lies with tech-support...is there by chance a web-site that I can get a # to call...I did a google for "starter Kit Tech-Spport" among other things...I didnt get anythingimage
