It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
Preferably without referring to NGE, SOE, or any other stupid acronyms which seem to invoke immediate hate for the game. Also, please only comment on the current state of the game/content if you have actually played it. I don't want some vet from 2 years ago commenting on how bad the game is just because all the SWG talk continues to propel the comments in a southernly direction.
It wouldn't surprise me if most of the people that reply to threads with "LOL THIS GAME IS TRASH" -- and im not saying it is or isnt, im asking -- haven't actually played for years.
Anyway, to the point of the thread, what is new content wise? How is the game if you aren't simply comparing it to before.
Regards!
P.s. It's my opinion that the Vet's forum be removed. No other game has this forum and it only serves to further the grudge against SOE, and to also helps continue the hate comments for this game.
P.s.s. The game may indeed be bad, but I would like some proof/reasons/comments as of its current state.

If you're concerned about getting a current player idea of how things are in the game, a good choice would be to check out the general discussion on the official SWG boards.forums.station.sony.com/swg/forums/show.m Then instead of reading about the game being trash here, you can read about the game being trash from those playing it.
Well. From looking at the general forums on the main SWG website, there doesnt seem to be any threads complaining about how 'trash' the game is. Looks ok to me.
The best way to form your own opinion of the game would be to download the trial, and if you have played some time ago, simply log into your account and use the free swg time all accounts have at the moment.
playing eq2 and two worlds
My opinion is simply the game is trash. If it looks ok to you just get the trial and find out for yourself. A waste of time really but give it a shot. SWG is the one of an extreme few games I say a complete waste of time they are, not becasue I'm an old vet that cries for pre-cu but simply on the basis of horrible mechanics and desolate servers. You may like the shoddy gameplay and tumbleweed servers, just get the trial and gain your own experience.
If you're looking for a single-player experience it might be kind of fun to ride around and see the Star Wars landmarks but the servers are so empty it's not worthy trying to play it as a mmorpg. You can download a free trial from tryswg.com and see for yourself but if you do make sure you play long enough to get off the newbie station so you can see what the real game is like.
Then go play the game-nobody's stopping you. Obviously if you see nobody complaining about the game on the front page of the oboards you're exactly the kind of customer the game is looking for. Enjoy yourself . I eagerly await your return to the boards here to tell everyone how fantastic the game is and how the 200k people that left would love it if they would only get rid of "the rose colored glasses".
The game is no way what we all remember, the infamous and detestable NGE.
Call it whatever you like ("NGE 2.0"?), but this incarnation of SWG is, in general terms, better that the previous versions pve content wise, player creation wise, complex wise (except skill tree, hope it returns in some form), pvp wise, etc. no questioning comparing to "NGE 1.0", but I'll put it at the lvl of enjoyment I had with CU and superior to the enjoyment I got playing pre-CU (sorry guys, I liked CU more ).
That is my impression after just a week resubscribed and enjoying it a lot. And god, I was a basher bitch in every forum I put my hands at, but hey, this developing team earned an oportunity.
No question about comparing SWG with other mmos in the market, all of them just to play simple and lack of variation of things to do.
The biggest issue now is low population in like 2/3 of servers (there are like...25 or so, excessive) but it's planned some sort of merging or free transfers. Get into Ahazi, Bria, Chilastra or Starsider server if you live in USA or Chimaera or Farstar if in Europe and you'll be fine even not knowing people at first.
Pick up a trial and check it for yourself, that is the best advise. It might like you or not, but it's a different game as WoW, Lotro, AoC and the likes for sure.
As others have indicated, download the trial and check it out for yourself.
It's much better than it was on 15 November 2005, that's for sure, but it's still not nearly as good as the game was five years ago...before mounts, player cities, and vehicles.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
Once a denizen of Ahazi
Id say use the trial or use your old account.
to check it out.
