You have received an infraction at Age of Conan Forums

DeeweDeewe Member UncommonPosts: 1,980

So I got an infraction point for that post, that was deleted :

I have the feeling the more it goes the moreFuncom is removing M stuff from the game.

If it's true, is the M rating the real issue?

Shouldn't they upgrade to a A rating?

Not that it would kill the sales, I would even say otherwise.

What do you think?

Edit : geez got 3 more points for asking an answer on why my first post was trolling at all.

still no answer since I received an infraction at Age of Conan Forums on July 3rd, 2008.

Seems like someone had it out for you.

    Here's one I got:

You have received an infraction at Age of Conan Forums.

    Reason: Flaming/Trolling

    -------

I'm glad to see that you are getting use of the Age of Conan Community, however, Trolling/Flaming is strictly against the Social Guidelines. Continual use of this behavior could have your forum's access restricted.

Jesus, they gave you an infraction for that?  That is dumb as hell.  They don't like people pointing out that they lied about keeping the M rating to keep the original content's integrity.

My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.

Well, seeing how the post appears to be utterly useless, perhaps flaming/trolling is the only category they could apply to it.

If you get warnings for posts like these then 50% of the people who post over there should also get warnings imo.

edit: the second post is hard to judge out of context, was it the threadstarter?

  • DeeweDeewe Member UncommonPosts: 1,980

I should rephrase my question:  do you think the M rating is an issue and preventing Funcom from delivering the M game?

Like many players have the feeling they are removing M stuff from the game.

  • SlytheSlythe Member UncommonPosts: 952

That is very weird, certainly not worthy of a ban. Here was my infraction, very much worth of one I think.

    Dear Slythe,

You have received a warning at Age of Conan Forums.

    Reason:

    -------

    Flaming/Trolling

    Please watch the insults.

Thats right mate, playing when I can, in between work. Wife is not well at the moment so looking after her, whilst waiting results of her brain scan.

But i'm enjoying the game on a high population server with everyone else, all servers list as medium load all the time minimum - peak times and you can check they show high pop's. If the game was so crap all these people wouldnt be playing would they?

As for the OP and his situation that is pretty bad if he got warned for that - i will agree.

  • VetarniasVetarnias Member UncommonPosts: 630

    Pfft, they'll censor everything, apparently.

Don't they realize that they are undermining the development of a community around the game?

Of course they did , if you where funcom would you want people talking about another promise that was nothing but a sales gimmick and now that they got there sales from it there taking it out of the game to get there rating dropped so they can market it to consol's easier

Funcom  is without a doubt the most unethical , lying POS in the gaming industry .

I'e been hanging on lots of game's forums, an dI must say that AoC's forums have the strangest mods I've seen. They close topics for no obvious reasons, ban people on a whim, send infractions for stuff that shouldn't get one, etc. Seems to me that either their mods are a bunch of people who can't understand half of the english language, are volunteers who don't give a damn bout anything and just need their "quota of the day" to ensure they keep their free subsciption, or are downright obsessive about it.

    Or all of the above

There seemes they have started to remove some of the more critical players to the game.

Ive not been in any other mmo or other forums the last 30 years beeing banned because I was critical to some of the game topics.

They own their forum, but they dont own the right of free speech.

I did as I promised when banned, cancel my account promptly.

The moderator kicked me with an exchause of that I had commented her way of removing another

players post, which he had posted in a wrong thread due to late posting of the moderators thread.

For that she rewarded me with 3 points.

I never used bad words as p.... a..... and others.

When I then wrote a note regarding her personal attacking on me on general forum, she kicked me promptly and I cant or wont continue playing under such leadership.

I will court follow her from a court in Norway due to her personal attacking and the hindering of my abillity to give my opinion and get copies of our correspondence. She totally destroyed all the pleasure with this game.

But the 3 main points I will bring to court is:

    Abillity to free speech.

Broken the marketing rules due to promises before gamerelease, when I acctually buyed the game, and what they acctually delivered.

I will demand full access and an exchause from the moderator for her personal attacking.

I will revert when the court starts with further informations.

Actually, an AO rating would kill the game's retail sales...just ask Rockstar, which lost tens of millions in the fiscal quarter following the "hot coffee" scandal. 98% of North American retailers do not stock AO rated games per store policy, so an AO re-rating by the ESRB would cost Funcom millions. Between the retailers returning their unsold copies and refusing to stock the game until it had been re-manufactured to remove the AO content and then re-rated to M by the ESRB, Funcom would lose months of potential sales and have to eat the development costs associated with removing the content. Plus, as was the case with GTA: San Andreas, there are the millions of "Kyle's Moms" out there who would seek damages for the innocence stripped from their little angels by the developer and the game industry (Take-Two awarded close to $1 million in total).

No not really , Just about every company handles their forums in the same manner .After all they are an extension of the game , And are accesible by non paying customers . Everyone knows the problems that exist with the game that cares to . Excessive posting of the same issue over and over again really dosen't help do anything other than push potential customers away . Would you expect Mcdonalds to put a sign up in front of their store that states their food is crap and noone should eat it ? Even though most already know this ,it just wouldn't be a good buisness decission .

I still can't believe I got not 1 but 3 more points just for asking someone to actually answer why I got the first infraction. Like 3 weeks ago.

  • AlienShirtAlienShirt Member UncommonPosts: 621

Funcom knows they released a terrible product so they are taking out the frustrations how ever they can. I can't wait till the plug is pulled on AoC. Hoping Funcom loses funding for The Secret World too.

  • SouldrainerSouldrainer Member Posts: 1,857

I cancelled my account over a very similar situation.

IMO, the game started out awesome, but FC is ruining it by crapping on the REH conan IP, and censoring all the good stuff away.  That's bad enough, but when they are issuing 3 infractions and banning people for asking why, I had to cancel on the spot.

With HGL shutting down and AoC becoming a hello kitty game, we are only days away from the free MMO Requiem:  Bloodymare taking over as the only M-rated MMO in existence.  It's sad IMO, because if the M-rating and Conan IP were used correctly by Funcom, Conan could have made WOW's 10 million look like a flash in the pan.

People WANT a mature MMO.  People NEED a mature MMO.  When one comes out and is done right, it WILL sell.  Just wait for KOTOR III and we shall see what an M-rated MMO is supposed to be!
