I couldn't care less either way. But, its not even about the porn. They are removing the mature themed LORE for christsakes! Or, at least, being speculated to. Regardless, its very important that you understand that, in removing said parts of the game, they completely remove themselves from EVERYTHING they said they were about. They told players that they DELIBERATELY kept the mature theme and nature of Conan. They marketed to those players, and got those players to buy the game.
By removing it, they are essentially taking away the very last aspect of their game they had left to offer from their originally listed set of things. Honestly...will you guys not stand up for anything? Has the MMO market really desensitized you so much...that you totally accept, not only failing to provide even HALF of what was promised, but also removing many of the things they DID provide?
The only reason I saw for any player to remain here was because they really liked the Conan lore and mature theme (which was showcased with their graphic engine). In case you didn't know....what is being discussed here is the fact they could be removing that to make way for the "new players" they plan on getting. I've heard THIS before...and it cost that company 200-300K players as a result. Its too late to market to a younger crowd, or even a different crowd. They have already spent too long hyping the game as it was....changing things is gonna sink em.

Have you ever seen the phrase "NIPPLES and GORE" used to describe what is in a Shakespeare play? or even in a Conan book? Guess not. This is not the main point in those works. But it was used for AoC, and very often.
So in reality it was two words that attracted a certain kind of player. In general, a person different from the ones that attend a Shakespeare play. I mean, people don't go to see a Shakespeare play to see tits and gore with their buddies. But some do play AoC for that. There is a difference. This is why I say the Mature rating should be in reality Inmature, because it attracts inmature people.
If they are neutering the content because of the console release next year so they can give the game a Teen rating I don't understand at all.
They can just have the nudity toggle set to OFF on the console and take out the curse words from that version. There is already this option in the game now so why would they change all this stuff, which we do know that they are changing. Clothes are now on the few npcs that were nude before, some words have been changed.
It's clear that they are headed toward PG-13 land rather than a real Howard game.
To get a teen rating all they'd have to do is.. take out decapitations (pretty much remove fatalities).

I'm curious where rape and slavery translate into naked npc roaming the lands ? The game has nothing but flirtasous intonations through out the game play, a bubble gum wonder land compared to anything remotely resembling the brutality of the Short stories by Howard ...
i said this before and someone got mad , but the reality of Howards work is a reflection of the repressiveness of that time period with short stories perverse in nature making it to magazine who fed a small portion of erotically deprived readers. The stories where about being a man in that Era than actual fantasy background, and to turn that era into a a video game just doesn't translate. You would have to go the distance and have rape xp, slave trader occupation , whore occupation , and ect, Funcom just couldn't bring it together , imho.
I hope they learn a lot from the feed back of this game to make there next project better. No one wants to rip down games , but if you are a developer and bring a can of weak sauce to the bbq, be prepared to get royally flamed.

Shakespeare doesnt need cheap marketing now, but the outrageous factor ( for its time ) already helped to sell a lot of artists work.
Here in Brazil a famous adaptation of "A midsummer night's dream" attracted a lot of people only for the nudity, I remember I was one of the few among my friends that was there for Shakespeare and this doesnt make all those people immature, as nude, sex, gore and emotions attract every human. Sure at the end they got much more than only nude bodies.

Well one reason why they'd be forced to do that in my opinion is that (lets face it) a bunch of kids are playing the game despite the M rating and when their parents find out about the nudity and such what do they do? cancel the account. Since they need to keep their subs, it wouldn't surprise me if this change was directly related to that. Of course it may be because they're panicking about the cancels and just want to broaden their market, who knows.
No matter what we may say, only Funcom knows for sure.
If they are so desprite to broaden their market they will make it so people with low end systems can play the game. Ive been intrested in this since day 1 not cause of the nudity invovled but because of its play style and lore. Always been fascinated with conan mythology. Since this might happen tho i will prolly never even play the game if even the gore is being removed. Whats the point of chopping someones head off if u dont see blood. Bad move IMO
They are not doing that, some players belive they are because some NPCS that were not finished in beta changed at the release and some quest lines changed too, but the mature/conan lore still there.
If they do that would be a major reason to leave this game, as the lore is very important to me, but all this issue is not based on official facts.
If the mature tone of the game have gotten turned down, then it must just be on the US servers. The EU servers still have tits and npcs using "mature" language.
As far as I see this, this whole stupid thing is based on some loose rumour. But I have heard that a lot of americans are upset over the game...

Have you ever seen the phrase "NIPPLES and GORE" used to describe what is in a Shakespeare play? or even in a Conan book? Guess not. This is not the main point in those works. But it was used for AoC, and very often.
So in reality it was two words that attracted a certain kind of player. In general, a person different from the ones that attend a Shakespeare play. I mean, people don't go to see a Shakespeare play to see tits and gore with their buddies. But some do play AoC for that. There is a difference. This is why I say the Mature rating should be in reality Inmature, because it attracts inmature people.
If they are neutering the content because of the console release next year so they can give the game a Teen rating I don't understand at all.
They can just have the nudity toggle set to OFF on the console and take out the curse words from that version. There is already this option in the game now so why would they change all this stuff, which we do know that they are changing. Clothes are now on the few npcs that were nude before, some words have been changed.
It's clear that they are headed toward PG-13 land rather than a real Howard game.
To get a teen rating all they'd have to do is.. take out decapitations (pretty much remove fatalities).

I'm curious where rape and slavery translate into naked npc roaming the lands ? The game has nothing but flirtasous intonations through out the game play, a bubble gum wonder land compared to anything remotely resembling the brutality of the Short stories by Howard ...
i said this before and someone got mad , but the reality of Howards work is a reflection of the repressiveness of that time period with short stories perverse in nature making it to magazine who fed a small portion of erotically deprived readers. The stories where about being a man in that Era than actual fantasy background, and to turn that era into a a video game just doesn't translate. You would have to go the distance and have rape xp, slave trader occupation , whore occupation , and ect, Funcom just couldn't bring it together , imho.
I hope they learn a lot from the feed back of this game to make there next project better. No one wants to rip down games , but if you are a developer and bring a can of weak sauce to the bbq, be prepared to get royally flamed.

Shakespeare doesnt need cheap marketing now, but the outrageous factor ( for its time ) already helped to sell a lot of artists work.
Here in Brazil a famous adaptation of "A midsummer night's dream" attracted a lot of people only for the nudity, I remember I was one of the few among my friends that was there for Shakespeare and this doesnt make all those people immature, as nude, sex, gore and emotions attract every human. Sure at the end they got much more than only nude bodies.

Ive been intrested in this since day 1 not cause of the nudity invovled but because of its play style and lore. Always been fascinated with conan mythology. Since this might happen tho i will prolly never even play the game if even the gore is being removed. Whats the point of chopping someones head off if u dont see blood. Bad move IMO

They are not doing that, some players belive they are because some NPCS that were not finished in beta changed at the release and some quest lines changed too, but the mature/conan lore still there.
If they do that would be a major reason to leave this game, as the lore is very important to me, but all this issue is not based on official facts.

If the mature tone of the game have gotten turned down, then it must just be on the US servers. The EU servers still have tits and npcs using "mature" language.
As far as I see this, this whole stupid thing is based on some loose rumour. But I have heard that a lot of americans are upset over the game...

Anyway, the way I see it they are just cleaning up a few area's, animations on the women are better, the ones outside now move about a bit more. They stuck some clothes on a chick in Lachish who was naked, big deal.
Like I said before A Lot of Hot Air over nothing..
