Wakfu Beta sign-ins

I was surprised to not see a competition for beta keys on this site. This MMORPG looks great, too bad they weren't added to the watch list of upcoming games. If you manage to wrangle a few passes to share with the site... remember who gave you the heads up .

Everyone else drop by and see this cool looking game. I know I can't wait to play it.

There was no competition. Just who can click the fastest. Create fake account, collect key, rinse repeat. I doubt the admins will bother making a competition for the next batch. Doing so would require them to read or judge and expend effort.

If it makes you feel better lots of mobs are bugged, I haven't found any humanoid NPCs, there's no map that I have found, it's quite laggy, and  I have only seen 8 different kinds of mobs.

  • DrukstylzDrukstylz Member Posts: 189

There is 1 human npc, apparently he hands out quests and such. There are only a few types of mobs, however they are divided into ranks, sort of like a gobbel, warchief and royal gobbel if you have played Dofus.

The overview map is probably not operational yet because they are still making adjustments to the layout. The lag may come from graphical settings. It may sound weird but that was a problem with dofus, even though its just 2d isometric. Try turning down some of your video settings.

From what I understand there isn't supposed to be any (or very few) NPC's. I would recommend anyone interested read some of the news and on the site. Its not going to be a game for everyone, but I for one am very excited about it.

I think that Wakfu started offering testing access to French players earlier this year and we are also getting very early access with today's offer - the game should still be in a very early stage.

I hear that a lot of the content is still in French - Ankama may be using this opportunity to test whether or not offering beta testing to people outside of France will help them.

Wakfu is pretty much a historical sequel to Dofus (which is pretty successful) and the game definitely has its cartoony charm. Ankama is also creating a Wakfu cartoon series it seems. I'll try the game out this weekend. :)

    I got a key, i tryed it.

    I almost puked.

This cartoonish, childish games, are the lowest form of entertainment, an adult could possible enjoy.

I cant understand how Dofus can get so many players. Really, i'm boggled. How dumb/ignorant/stupid, can people be?

I so agree. Wtf? lol. I spend 1 hour running around in dofus trying to find out what the goal or reason was I was there.

What is the point of the game, why would I even want to do a batlle or talk to some APPLE next to me....wow, I have no clue why people play it lol.

Differing opinions are good, since it give a perspective that one may not have thought of. That said, just hoping into a topic to insult what others like is just rude. You can express yourselves without calling others names or assuming they are less intelligent then you are, just because they have different interests. Not everyone loves WOW, or twitch games (insert first person shooter); does that make them stupid? No. They just have different interests.

From the number of posts you both have I can see you very active on the forums here, but that doesn’t make your opinions more valuable then anyone else’s.

Courtesy goes a long way; it’s a learned skill that takes a little effort. Speaking your mind doesn’t mean putting someone else down, dialog is good and doesn’t need to be a competition of who’s right.

My two coppers on that topic.

As for Wakfu, they have some amazing artists working on the game. The overall feel of what they are trying to do is interesting, with the players controlling the development of the ecology; even mixing species.

Reading the French boards I see that they receive much more information, on a regular basis. Again it won’t be for everyone, but it looks like a niche game that will have its own loyal following.

    Please! .. don't be ridiculous.

You don't need to use your hands to play Wakfu!!

  • spinach8puffspinach8puff Member CommonPosts: 864

Very well put, Kanis, and I agree.

To talk further on Wakfu I enjoyed how smooth the animations were unlike with Wonderland Online. In my opinion it looked like Wonderland Online was missing a few frames of animation in between each action, but that's how a fair amount of of turn based games have looked so far. I also enjoyed the combat which isn't something I experienced before. Although I have only ever played console turn based fighting games and not pc games.

The only thing I don't like so far is that you can only click to move. My hand starts hurting in about an hours time. Hopefully they will add WASD or the arrow keys.

Negrus= lol waht topic iz heeer gui's?

Also, differen't taste and different pc's. I have my lappy for my usual point and click game... but my desktop, well I don't want to push it over the edge, games like Dofus (&Makfu I am assuming) don't need so much power to run or anything more that an intergrated 2002 *intel*EXTREME!!* graphics card.  So really think about the people without graphics cards all the time, games like this are awesome compared to Dune.

Actually, Wakfu can get pretty intense at times. I can run Oblivion almost perfectly on my computer, and Wakfu can lag fairly heavily at times. And I'm sure they mentioned why Wakfu...I'll look around for the reason. Also, anyone know how long till they're supposed to give out more keys? My friend needs one.

The lagg you experienced is because of the flash.  The entire game is flash based, so it occationally needs some time to load.  It isn't the graphics...it's loading.

  • MagicalgnomeMagicalgnome Member Posts: 16

Actually, Wakfu is running on a Java engine, the same as Dofus arena. And if you had done any research, you would know that.

How you see Wakfu really depends on what you like. If you can get passed the graphics, (Provided you don't like them.) you may like it for all of it's features. If you want to see a lot of the things that are planned for Wakfu, just check out the link at the bottom of my post.

I personally love Wakfu, I've been a beta tester for three months now and I've loved almost every minute of it. (Aside from a bug or two...) And many others feel the same way.
