Exploration?

SomeOldBlokeSomeOldBloke Member UncommonPosts: 2,167

I've read a couple of guides (eve-guides.com and Exploration Guide V2.0) and get the idea about what ytour supposed to do to find th site but am not sure what you do when you find the site and bookmark it.

Can someone give a brief run down or point me to the url's that have relevent stuff to help me out.

Thanks folks...

That was the exploration guide I already read, but thanks for the link...

I guess I need to ask more specific questions and not be vague, my bad...

    1. Can I sell bookmarks?
    2. How does hacking, Archaeology and Salvage work?

    Thanks again...

You can try to sell bookmarks but most people wouldn't know what to do with them if you gave them away for free. Exploration tends to confuse most people to death, but once you figure it out its not that difficult only complicated. However it sounds like your finding sites at this point so I'll avoid repeating things that have been written everywhere else.

    A) Other sites, unknown sites, complexes... just about any site you find with PvE ships. Rule #1 kill them all... and wait. What your looking for are faction spawns and these happen in empire as well as low/null sec. Faction spawns will say something along the lines of True Sansha XXX instead of just Sansha XXX. They are usually no more difficult to kill then thier regular versions, but they drop faction modules which depending on what you find can range from absolutely worthless to several billion. Officer spawns especially... find me any chelm product for under half a billion and I'd buy it on the spot. Chelm modules are top of the line, making T2 look like civilian gear in comparision. All officer/faction spawns are rare (officer more so) and its the size of the ship more then the location or area you find it that determines what kind of drops you'll find. This is were most of the exploration money comes into play now a days IMHO, exploration has pretty regular faction spawn rates compared to just ratting.

    B) Hacking, Archeology is pretty simple stuff. You find a site, you fly up to what looks like a jet can, you hit the approprate module, you loot, you repeat. (Usually under fire). Archeology is probably the most useless class of skills in the game, largely ignored by the entire eve community. Most of the modules you can build with archeology don't even compare to better named T1 let alone T2 varients. So Archeology is mostly for people with too much free time on thier hands ( 0/ ). Hacking is a great way to get some BPCs, and assorted junk. You can make some pretty regular income from hacking sites; but with total time involved in finding, killing, looting and selling... level 3s make more income in the same amount of time. There are some gold mines in hacking, faction control tower BPCs and such that really can make your day. But they wouldn't be worth so much if they were found easily. Mostly its just an alternative source of income compared to the mission grind that 80% of the game will never understand and really doesn't have alot of incentive to do so still.

Also incase you haven't figure it out yet. Covert ops is great for finding the sites, but largely useless after that. So having a nearby BC type ship with all the modules on it you need is ideal. Oh, and if your serious about grinding exploration for isk, pickup a sisters probe launcher... cuts the time down quite a bit. They sell on contract about 40M, but put a buy order up @ 30M and someone will grab it... market is fairly saturated.

    Happy exploring.

Only because they things you find can't be found anywhere else. The only way to make interfaces for T2 production is exploration. An since everybody and they're sister wants to own T2 products the market is quite healthy. Also the only way to build faction structures is exploration. Of coarse for a large part of the community they just buy the finished product from producers and never really inquire into the whole process. But those Domination Control Towers or True Sansha Towers? They're stupidly easy to make provided you can get your grubby mits on a BPC, and once you build it... its worth quite a few isk. When you add in faction loot too, the potential is there for lots of income. But you have to be willing to do alot more work. True enough you don't really explore for isk... but you explore for the chance to find things you can sell for isk.

This is not correct, the bpc can drop from any factionspawn, either mission or asteroid npc.
