Classic Funcom sucker-punch

Lol, I'm starting to remember why I stopped playing AO 6 years ago.

I've been a rabid AO fan since launch (actually Beta 6/Stress, in fact I even lol'd at my account creation date: 06-28-2001). I left shortly before SL went live, and dabbled with froob accounts but never really got bit by the same bug. Well, I'm not gonna pass up a $7 deal...so I upgrade, and....

FROZEN

'huh? why is my account still frozen...the $7 charge went through fine' ... 'weird, there's an old $13 failed payment from 2003...they can't possibly want me to pay that?'

I can't believe their system hadn't cancelled my account automatically when that payment failed. So I sent an email off to support....I don't expect this to get resolved though. So much for my free days :( I coulda used that $7 to buy a burger or something. phooey.

    Mine is frozen too because a 2004 payment failed (and I let it die because I just wanted to un-sub). Let me know how it goes for you with Funcom support, I might go and check that offer.

    Actually, what I'm thinking right now is that the free days only count if you upgrade a froob account. Because I upgraded a previously subbed acount, I've already used my AO 30 free days (that you get when you buy the box or whatever). So I'm thinking if you upgrade a vet account you still need to pay the monthly fee to get back in.

    Still waiting on support, not holding my breath. Or maybe I should as it'll put me out of my misery of trying to play a Funcom game...

    I reactivated my account as well and so far see no problems...yeah ofcourse a previous money payment failed which is why i will be charged the 7 bucks plus the last payment that didnt go through.

    I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I also went and upgraded a free account to a shadowlands account, I get the success, and now can play Notum wars and Shadowlands , I go to log in newly upgraded shadowlands account about 15 minutes later, to see "error-Account not paid", so I log in, and now it is frozen, and now there is a failed in the billing,  so this kinda leaves me with a frozen Unpaid FREE Account.  I guess I upgraded to have the account frozen

    Well, i had the same exact thing with a small difference:

    they billed me 7 €  and... 35 € from my old 3 month plan i stopped in 2006.....

    I wrote to support the 1st of july and still no answer. I asked a refund of the 3 month... i really don't to pay in advance till november 2008. I never asked.

    If next monday they don't answer and don't fix this, i go calling my CC trying to contest that payment.

    For sure, my good opinion on Funcom is dropped a lot and even if the account is now open, i'm not going to play till they refund me.

     Edit: rereading your posts, something in their system is faulty, maybe the fact that i got the account open is because my account was not a froob, but a AO/NW/SL/AI account (well now seems i have LE too :P)

    Failed? if u unsubbed why they should ask you another payment if u just asked for the upgrade offer, that gives you 30 days of gameplay? That's absolutely wrong.

    They CANNOT charge you for a never asked service, unless you pressed the plan button.

    Nope, I have a vet account with expansions till AI and i received the email stating the offer would give me upgrade to LE and 30 days of gameplay + 7 other days don't remember why and 500 points (not sure what they are, but i didnt found anything ingame about this points).

    So they are just stealing money they have no rights to do. When the 30 days expire *AND* if i want to continue, i will pay another plan. But stealing money without any intervention by me, is just wrong.

    Couldn't be worse than playonline trying to suddenly charge me for nearly 2 years of FF11 use, when all I did was buy the game ages ago, played for 2 weeks and cancelled the account.

    wow, that sucks for everyone who is returning only to get the error payment message.

    kind of defeats the purpouse of pulling back old and inactive players if your going to SCREW them for giving you a second chance.

    "yes thanks for comming back....now lets talk about you not paying for your time gone".......what the hell are they smoking....at least upgrade the engin and whatnot before you start pulling that crap..

    im just curious though, how many of you guys just let the account rot and how many of you logged on to myaccount and clicked cancel subscription when leaving? not that that give them a right to ask for old money...i mean you coming back is better than them not getting any money or an old player to return... right

    in 2006 i cancelled my sub, but seems the system considered me just frozen. This means that i didn't lost my characters (in fact they are still alive), but i really don't care, it's not a billing problem, it's how they did it, without asking. Most probably i would play the game for the next month and probably i would sub for more months, but now, if they don't refund me, i wll cancel *definitely* the account and, sure i'm not going to play AoC too. It's a principle question, not just the € 35 stolen.

    There are so many games around i can live without AO and crap of Funcom.

    Wow get this

     

    I get the free 30 days reactivation, and then before the 4th, I upgrade using the $7 offer (Birthday Upgrade), my account gets upgrade and I now have 65~  days of gametime left (free 30+30+7-2 played) the charge never shows up on my credit card, then my account BECOMES FROZEN, I LOSE ALL MY TIME, and the Birthday Upgrade charge is still "pending" in the payments window on my account page on funcom

    guess im glad now that i went p2p before they combined all their billing staff with AoC and before these b-day offers that they keep messing up

    Well, after all was said and done, I resubmitted the $12.95 payment, account went back to open, and I played for the weekend. Then Tuesday I get an e-mail "ok account is now open and should be working fine" Thanks funcom. Fixed it myself thanks. Hope you enjoy my money :p If they had said "free days only apply to new acocunts only" i'd have been fine with that. Oh well. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

    Anyway: Your next payment is due 2008-09-02 18:35:14

    So it seems like I got the free days anyway. So, 4 Expansions and 60 days of game time for $20 ($7+$13 old payment) is still a fairly good deal. I just wish Funcom wasn't so....broken.

    Good luck to the rest of you. And anyone ever thinking of coming back to AO, just read this thread and remind yourself how bad Funcom is. Do yourself a favor and go play something else, lol.

    had no problems at all with the offer..

    i only keep crashing (must be vista, but ao is the only game that crashes for me) and im waiting on the fc techsupport.. which WILL take ages

    its sad, i want to play and might resub cause of all the new content, but i cant...

    Funcom thanks you for supporting age of conan by being suckered by their offer. Your donation will help fanbois play aoc another month longer before funcom goes broke.

    Well, after all my complains in this topic, i have to say now, to be fully honest, that i've received an answer from the FC support (really from the Company that manage billings for FC) and they assured me that they are going to refund me for the payment (dated 2006) that i never authorized. They assured me that was just a mistake from the automated billing system. Well, i'm glad I got the answer and a good answer. For sure FC should do some rework at their billing system, but this is enough for me to still trust FC as a good company.

    Now I can think to go to Rubi-Ka just for a tour, cause, after 2 years i don't remember anything.

    For you that still having problems, use the support email, i think you'll get answers.

    glad in the end it worked out for you. I am still having issues.

    I had 2 tickets, one for the billing (account@anarchy-online) the other about Billing (support@anarchy-online), after support replied, and I explained my problem and account, I get another replay from Account.

    Account said they resended the transaction, and is now pending, everything should work, and the reason was the card was too many times.  I check and shows failed. so I reply back, during that time I get a reply back from support .. they checked the account and transactions and said the bank the card is with denied the transaction. Being it was a pre-paid card, I had to do some searching to get a number to call them. once I called the bank, I find out they do not do foreign transaction. Ok . . Thanks for letting me know AFTER the fact.

    So I replied back to accounts letting them know the problem is the card, so I am going to use their PayByCash method, but  I can not figure it out. They reply back to contact support @paybycash.

    I didn't because the problem is, the option from the instructions I got from PBC, ther is no button to press on My Accounts for PBC.  So I replied back to accounts and mentioned that.

    In the mean time through trial a error pressing every button thaqt is in 'My Account",  I somehow got that option for PBC. I am going to be using the Ultimate Game card , so I made that selection, followed all the instructions, and success,

    So I log in . . yeah I can play again .. after a while I decided I was going to make a keeper, so I log off, before logging back in, I send accounts a reply to the ticket, that all is good, close the ticket.

    then I go to my Org's forum and  spread my happy news my account is open again. Then I go to log in , "Error-Account not paid" , so back to myaccount I go again and sure enough, all I got was one log in with my reactivated account, hmm, so maybe the up grade from free to shadowlands $9.95, was just that, and I would have to spend another $5, so I use the card again ..  it shows  Success, account reactivated . . but when I go to log in .. "Error-account not paid"  . so after $24.87 (that is including fees for cards and using them) spent just to get a $5 month sub . . . I m saying screw trying to spend money at FunCom. They don't want it. Fine with me I'll just play on  the free account. Now I just want my moneys worth, then that is it for that account.

     I enjoy the game, willing to spend money to play it, but apparently they do not want my money

    So I guess I have to send another email, and start a new ticket again, and do another 8 day wait for a reply (if it is that fast)

    I resubbed ok for the free 30 days, cancelling immediately ofcourse so that they dont charge me if I dont like it.

    One problem, the web site and login server is down. 30 days of anarchy offline ftw :)

    Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL

    If that's a prepaid game card, you got screwed again by Funcom. There were tons of angry customers on the forums due to having paid their accounts with game cards, only to find their accounts frozen. Apparently, Funcom decided to cut off all game cards due to "fraud" without telling anyone until the complaints started coming in.

    Funny thing is, after announcing game cards could no longer be used for AO due to "security concerns", they announced game cards are available for AoC.

    well  found out, (should have read more into  it) that  when you upgrade from froob to shadowlands, that is all your doing. So after I logged out the account was frozen till I paid for a month, so it is that There is not a 30 days that follows. the other problem I was facing was, my balance on the card was just a few cents short of what was needed, I didn't notice there was actually a difference, the amounts were so close it was not very noticeable.

    The problems I was having after using the cards was all my bad.

    actually everything went smooth as it should have. There was absolutely no problems with using the Ultimate Game card.

    I can play again, just a matter of figuring things out with out FC's help. It was their poor billing that started the mess,and it was my bad for not recognizing any mistakes I made later.

    They still have bad support and billing system
