I imagine they'll be released around the same time. I will be playing Warhammer & I won't be buying WoTLK because I canceled my WoW account over a year ago out of boredom and frustration. WoW failed with PvP for me. It wasn't fun. The battlegrounds were a joke and arenas even worse. I can say one thing about Mythic they know how to make PvP FUN!
I'm back to WOW after that horrible AOC experience. I'm enjoying myself again, was wondering, do you think WAR will be release before Wotlk ?
The only thing I feel somewhat safe in saying is that they will both launch in 2008. As for the order, WAR should come out first, especially since it is more important to EA Mythic that it does. Before bored WoW fans get their new toy, WAR needs to strike and captivate them. If they launch after WotlK, I can pretty much guarantee that initial box sales will drop by a large amount.
And yes, I know a lot of you say, "I do not WANT WoW players in MY game." Well, EA does, as subscriptions mean money. Oh, and more money means we get more updates and more content and more attention.
That, and I think the elitist stereotype that WoW players are somehow inferior is a load of bullcrap, but that is a whole 'nother thread.

hehe...WoW player here. I am -so- glad they won't be having forums. That means less hardcore whing and less hardcore trolls. Divide and conquer. Nice thinking Mythic
I will be canceling my WoW account and never looking back.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
I will be really disappointed if this game doesn't release in October..with WotlK release date rumoured to be around November...it simply would not be good for anyone on the WAR side to release after WotlK. Even if it's just a week before release, they need to get out there before the next WoW expansion. The wait 3 months after WotlK sounds good in writing, but delaying the game til Feb-Mar 2009 would drive me up the freakin wall.
WAR will be out just a bit before WOTLK. Blizzard has only just announced that they are looking at WOTLK beta. This means that if WAR has a Vanguard/AOC style release, WOTLK will be right behind them to deliver a killing blow.
And with it would go EAs other MMORPG that I have been waiting years for.

He said "if" and honestly he is right. WAR is likely at the most going to launch 1-2 months ahead of WotlK, more realistic time frame would be a few weeks (mid October vs. early November, all speculation of course). IF WAR has a launch ala AoC and Vanguard then the game is screwed.
Now saying that, from what I know and what I have played in Beta...the chances of that happening? Laughable to say the least, I'm expecting a launch ala LOTRO in terms of bugs or serious issues (aka very few and far between)
Lol! Now I KNOW you're a WoW fanboy. You're going to be sorely disappointed when WAR is a huge success, kid. It's nothing like Aoc or Vanguard.
Nope, read my post history in (and) my profile. Brush up on that reading comprehension too, I never said that WAR was like AOC or Vanguard. Here I'll make it easier for you to understand:
"This means that if WAR has a catastrophic release, WOTLK will be right behind it to deliver a killing blow"
edit: In case you missed it, I have only everything to gain from WARs success. EA is currently in talks about another IP they want to turn into an MMORPG. The more that WAR succeeds, the better for the other game in terms of finance and experience. If WAR bombs there is a real possibility that they will either delay or even cancel the development of the other game.

I need more content.. when game comes out.. warhammer need more money!!!
Then I can go play Tomb Kings and go around being like a egyptian warrior and man slaughter alot of stuff and go to sleep in my tomb in enternal slumer.. then go out to slaughter more shiz
Blizzard just opened beta opt in which means we got 6 months before they start beta. Even if they rush it, which they almost never do, you are looking at December as the closest probable launch. With WAR going to release at the begining of fall(Sept/Oct) this gives them 2 monts. Now if Blizzard does rush it then I really fear for WoW's slow demise but it would be GOOD for WAR. Blizzard is ridiculously slow for the size of the company in developing things so I really doubt they will make 2008. They need at least 3 months of beta testing to make the expansion good. So they need to be in beta by September. So they have 2 months to get out of Alpha and move to Beta. I don't see it happening but again they might rush.
There is just no way that Blizzard will be able to get WotLK out by October. There are better odds, and those aren't great, that WAR will be delayed and then they will release at the same time.
I don't think I can bring myself to get WoTLK. after quitting WoW with 2 70s and a 69, I just need to let my account die. So I hope to god WAR comes out before WoTLK, so it can't suck me back in.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
It doesn't matter - people who play WoW will either continue, maybe with WothLK, or not. Personally I play WoW and EVE atm; the WothLK expansion simply does not appeal to me at all at this point. I like WoW, but it's wearing pretty thin and I can't say I am looking forward to grinding up another class or 10 more levels and re-gearing just to do the same-old-same-old.
So it will be WAR and EVE for me, almost for sure, once WAR is out. The more interesting one for me will be whether "ambulation" makes it out for EVE before WAR
WAR will definitely come out sooner, judging by the development stages both games are in.
EA will want WAR to come out a month or a few weeks before WoTLK , but i doubt Blizzard will let that happen. I'm expecting WAR releases 2-3 months before WoTLK, since Blizzard will want some people to get bored with WAR.
However, the beautiful thing about WAR, is that it doesn't emphasize late game or early game. It blooms and grows since you start the game and till, well, forever.
This in turn means that the players can't just experience the content in a month and then be left hanging dry, ready for a certain expansion of their old game to come out. The Gameplay is just too good to let that happen.
Mythic is going to release WAR when it is ready (same goes for WOTLK btw), if we do not have another delay it should hit the shelves before WOTLK, if it delays again (and the other doesn't), it will be after. Personally I am rooting for September/November release for WAR and early 2009 for WOTLK if everything goes according to plan.
both games (and every game set to come out in the last quarter) will strive (read work their a## off) to be released for the Christmas sales (which are insanely high). however Blizz is in no real hurry (except to get those sales if possible) and WAR is in a hurry (no game would EVER want to be released next to the biggest and most established game out there).
my prediction:
WAR for a February release
WOTLK for a April/May release
but what would i know? all i got is their press releases
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

My guess would be yes. But since neither WAR nor WotLK have been given official release dates, it's just a guess.

I would imagine they'd want to release before WOTLK, to have the maximum amount of bored people from WOW, and people that left WOW, trying WAR.
Another bet would be releasing about three months after WOTLK and get the people bored already of WOTLK.

I hope it's in early Fall, I'm in desperate need of a new RPG.
I won't be buying Wrath that's for sure, that game has gone down hill both in gameplay and community.

Oh don't even talk about the community! They give me a headache just by being MENTIONED!
God I hate the WoW community
Even the RP servers are terrible!
