One is a korean grindy type with rvrish qualities, the other is an rvr western style game. They are pretty much two entirely different genres. My initial guesses would be that WAR will actually have better play, but AION will be much prettier.
First of all it isn't grind Aionn.
Second, what is for you more prettier if the gameplay is not so good as Warhammer?
Korean games typically have beautiful graphics (such as Guild Wars)
Their coding is typically horrible for the western mindset though. Things like click to move, invisible walls hemming you into certain paths, lots of grinding to level, things like that.
Koreans like that with their beautiful graphics...western society doesn't so much.
We'll take a little hit in the graphics department to get a game with better play to it. I.E. more interactive environments, more free exploring, better combat (i.e. no point to click garbage.)
On the other hand, I think they are trying to convert AION to something more western, so who knows what they will come out with.
I'll probably check it out, but I'm doubting I'll play it more than a month

People who are uneducated about a certain game should really not be giving other people information about it.

What on Earth are you talking about? Guild Wars is developed by a North American company called ArenaNet... It has one of the most efficient clients on the market, absolutely no grind at all as well as both click to move and WASD movement. Sure, it has invisible walls, but that's what GW2 is meant to fix. If you know nothing about a game you shouldn't be giving other people advice about it. This is laughable.
From what I know Aion has better: - graphics - music (a matter of taste though) - character customization - character design (including armors, weapon designs) - gameplay looks better in videos and much smoother then in WAR - flying and flying combat in different situations - siege machines and npcs you use/hire/grow (not sure if WAR has any didnt find anything) - nicer pets
might be more or less cant think of any other atm.
I can't inform you cause I haven't really read into WAR, the only ones who can tell you about this are the ones interested equally on both games, whoever tells you Aion is a grind or WAR is a wow clone has probably no valid arguments.
One is a korean grindy type with rvrish qualities, the other is an rvr western style game.
LOL... Do some research. Thanks.
From what I see so far, the combat looks A LOT smoother than WAR. It could be the fact that we are seeing some older builds of WAR, and there is no real NDA on Aion. I also love Aion's graphical style. WAR looks good, but it looks very similar to WoW (yes I know WC copied WH, I know they don't look the same, I know WAR looks a little more realistic and crisp) and I'm tired that look.
It seems like the RvR will be similar. I'm not sure if the Abyss will have tiers like RvR zones in WAR, but it's pretty much the same concept. They haven't released much info about the Abyss, or how you will get gear through RvR, so it's really hard for me to choose which will be better. On the other hand, Mythic released a bunch of info with no real footage of taking keeps.
So far I love everything that Mythic has talked about. I also love everything I see in videos of Aion. I will try both, anyway.
Okay, So After taking a good look at WAR, I can truly say, Aion has MUCH better PVP...
first of all, i think everyone should compare pvp Videos from Youtube of Aion and WAR...
Aion has FLIGHT pvp... and WAR has a very elementary looking pvp system. very unappealing..
I would rather play WoW instead of WAR, Because it is pretty much the same thing- with crappier graphics and ugly looking animations ( running/attacking etc..).
Aion has AMAZING graphics, and very great animations ( running/attacking etc..) and the visual effects of the skills are stunning. not to mention the Better music change in Aion PvP than WAR.
I don't know how to comment on how ill-informed you are. I know that what I've quoted above is an opinion, but damn, you can't get a much more poorly informed opinion if you asked an evangelical who created the universe...
So in Aion you can fly (for 2 minutes, correct?) and it instantly makes it's PvP better than WAR's? WAR has fulling on city sieging, the ability to level your character up in both typical character levels, and PvP levels through PvP. 100 (at least for now) PvP levels. WAR has siege weapons that work as mini-games, 30 different 15 minute PvP-scenarios that help swing the balance for the end take over of the other Race's city.
Guilds can have and conquer keeps in WAR, Mythic made DAoC - I'm not going to even being to doubt their ability to make another, absolutely fantastic PvP-centric MMO.
There's nothing like that in Aion, just a rudimentary PvPvE system ...
Now what game has the better PvP?
On graphics and animation? That really is an opinion, and one that's much harder to argue against, however, please remember that the graphics for WAR (in almost all of the beta videos) are no-where near maxed out. Give the game a month or two and let the dev team shine, they've got a gorgeous game waiting for you.
Then again, you're just a blatent Aion fanboi. Not like you care if you're obviously wrong...
I think that was unfair for WAR, such assumptions may be as wrong as saying Aion is another korean grinder. Just like I think star.buck's comment is undocummented, saying Aion has rudimentary pvpve system going on shows he has no clue about Aion.
I think the OP would have better asked about each game's features in both forums and then decide by himself, instead of clashing both games into an unnecesary fight.
"I don't like this fight I'm losing I'm going to fly away lawl lawl lawl just like Halaa in WoW!"
Aion BETTER not be like that crap. For me, I think WAR is better, though Aion has pretty good graphics. But WAR is dark and gritty...Aion is fluffy feathers fly hey look even the bad guys seem soft and squishy...typical Asian/anime-style. Just not for me. But I'll probably try out both.
Don't flame me I haven't been following this game that much.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
From what I know Aion has better: - graphics Just an opinion - if you like more Anime-style graphics, then yes, Aion wins; if you prefer a more traditional 'Western' RPG style, WAR's going to be gorgeous. - music (a matter of taste though) Again, it's a complete matter of personal taste. - character customization - character design (including armors, weapon designs) I'm going to disagree - each race in WAR has a specific theme/style to it, and all of them are totally awesome in their own right. Do you prefer the elegant curves, silks and plumage of the High Elves, or the Shamanistic, Totemic stylings of the Greenskins? Ties in a ton with your opinion of the graphical style. - gameplay looks better in videos and much smoother then in WAR How the hell can one judge gameplay from a few videos? This still boggles my mind. - flying and flying combat in different situations - siege machines and npcs you use/hire/grow (not sure if WAR has any didnt find anything) WAR has several siege engines, all of which are fully controllable - like a little minigame. - nicer pets Again, personal taste. I think Squigs, Lions and the lil Daemons the Magi get are FREAKING awesome.
WAR has.
> Over 25 years of Lore to draw upon for it's story
> At launch, 6 unique races, with the ability to add up to 2-3 more racial pairings over coming expansion packs
> The backing of a solid development team who have already brought us an awesome RvRvR game - Dark Age of Camelot
> A huge game world, constantly in the heavings of WAR
> City Sieging (need I say more?)
> Probably the best ever Guild system implemented in a game.
> Probably the best ever data system ever implemented in a game - the Tome of Knowledge. Probably impossible to fill, but keeps records of everything you've discovered/done. Your own personal story.
> Raids for those of you who are more PvE-biased. Check out the video of the Bastion Stair!

Why even compare the two games? Only thing they have in common is the RvR, that's about it and even that works in different ways.
"If I had a d*ck, I'd go get laid. But we can do that next best thing... Let's kill people."
I am excited about both

Im wondering this also....
Although im not exctied about either of them...
Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7
I want some more info about Warhammer, if i know this i know or i gonna play Warhammer too, now i'm only gonna play Aion.
Which one has better gfx?
I don't think you can really compare them.

easier solution. I think wAR will be out first, so play war, then try out aion when it comes out.

Your basing which one to play on better graphics? Screw that...look at the game systems and mechanics and what the game offers!
Aion to me does look amazing, and NCSoft says they're developing an MMO with the western audience in mind, but can they deliver what they say!
War on the other hand has so many well laid out features and just and endless supply of intense lore to pour from!
I plan to play both, but WAR has my eye the most!
Omfg have you done one ounce of research into the game? If you plan on making nonsense claims please do it somewhere else.
The kind of GFX i mean, i think Aion is better in that. But...
People who are uneducated about a certain game should really not be giving other people information about it.

What is the difference between the Sieges the Castles and PvP? want answer on that not a discus.. Childs.

What you said now is exectly what i know now too, but don't know more:P
Don't forget story with in game cinema.
The animations ,koreanmmorpgs always has kickass animations

As for Quests...
I haven't looked into WAR's Quests..
but in aion, there are Cutscenes which is very nice to have- when you want to see something different than your gamescreen setup once in a while.
And most of the quests are essential to your characters development. And almost everything is built around the storyline of your OWN character.
...
I really don't have anything against WAR...
but I have the right to say that Aion is superior to it.
Lets face it... We really don't need another WoW..
especially not one that isn't visually appealing and isn't based around a great storyline.
