For Roleplayers! What is your favorite Role to play?

I like playing games that let me have more than one character because I love variety
My favorite Roles to play are:

The girl who was "adopted" as a baby into poverty/commoners/slavery which makes her humble and polite to eventually find out she's a goddess incarnate/royalty/someone really important. (usually a mage of some sort or healer)

The spoiled little rich girl who's a total tomboy and hates men because her mom keeps trying to force marriage on her. (usually a theif/rogue)

The girl who's parent died at a young age and so she has pretty much raised herself in the woods and has a close bond with nature and would probably kill you for harming a tree needlessly instead of thinking the carved heart with your names in it was cute. (usually a ranger/hunter/pet class)

The shy quiet girl who is usually seen sitting at the back of a room just listening and observing everyone else. She is always polite and never speaks unless spoken to. however when asked for it she can sing like a goddess and dance with the gracefullness of a swan and always has a good story or two to tell (mostly from being such an avid listener of everyone else) She is also a good healer and quick to offer aide when needed.
(probably my most favorite one of play because I LOVE playing Healers/bards)

I never try to play different role in a RPG, I always act like myself, and try my best to look like myself, well as much as the game allows.

My character has all the same traits I do and very close to the same stats, no magic, no armour, human, weapon might be martial arts or a pole arm

My character past is plain just like mine, so essentually I am exactly the same in game and out with the exception of a job, I am usually a bounty hunter or vampire hunter or whatever hunter

My role play characters from games?

Well, I like the war veteran, he's one of my favorites cus you can twist the personality so many ways just by changing small details.

I also enjoy the SPEED ZOMBIE!!! (post if you REALLY wanna know the story behind that one)

And then there's the booze loving warrior (like Kyle from Lunar)

But most of the time I'd stick with the healer, with a pretty average background (average for the game).  Don't really have any special twists for this one, I just like healers.

There's some more personalities I've done, but I don't really feel like posting every last one...

i like roleplaying cocky characters, and sneaky ones, who have to find ways AROUND their probllems versus through them with confrontation...rogues are really fun to play. NWN was great for that.

Carebear servers/games I usually play the leader. Because heck, lets face it, even in real life I always like to be in charge. So its just natural in games. I have problems when I'm not the party leader. image

PvP games, usually the evil silent bastard that doesn't talk much. Sometimes will let people live, even help them out. Doesn't like people who talk back, bad, or nasty, and usually carries an axe for head choppin. Usually kills for loot, or sometimes even fun.

Realistically i'm sort of a mix between those two, except i'm good, and silent. And just chop off people's heads that are evilimage

I have no favorite character myself. You name it, and I have probaly played one variation of it or another. I have been playing paper and dice as well as LARP for a long time. Only recently started the mmorpgs but most of my favorites have a least one or more serious flaws/quirks. Its just more fun that way ::::12::

I like to play myself; usually, the awfully clever babe who does not seem to care much usually for others, but is always willingly to lend a hand. Of course, I rather when that hand is begged for. I love animal companions. I try to be neutral drow or half elven creature.

Preferred jobs; archer, amazon or thief.

Must be American? What the hell, man? Thats some freakin prejudice. I'm American and I also like to play 3 dimensional characters. In GURPS, I built characters off of disadvantages because dealing with a flawed character is a lot more fun than a perfect one. According to you I must not be American. Can't believe I defended you in another post.

In general most people like to make characters with no flaws, to pretend to be better than they are in real-life, but I guess you could say I play 3D character, seeing that I would rather be myself than anyone else

I never said my characters were perfect and not flawed in some way.. just didn't want to write a book so summarized them to my best ability. And yes I am American. The most interesting people I meet are usually from Europe or in the military.. or both. Netherlands, Sweden, and the coolest people I've met are from Australia. But I'm like the LEAST prejudiced person you'll ever meet. As cool as most Aussies I've met are I've also met some from Australia that make ya raise that one eyebrow and think "what are they smoking?"
So anyway .. Perfection is impossible because it is in fact a matter of opinion and I don't even pretend to attempt it. Yes I said Goddess Incarnate.. that doesn't mean she's a goddess, and she's far from perfect.. I mean she LIKES being a slave for crying outloud and quite a filthy mind as well.
Ok that's it before I ramble on some more.. too tired to stay focused on my point :P
(which by the way is a flaw that transferrs to ALL my characters lol )

Well, I like 3 things generally:

    - Been unique or rare as much as possible in my developpment(impossible to be unique in a MMORPG, but trying to).

    - Been the best at something.  That is hard, but this is what I strive for.  I dont care to be the best overall, I want to be the best at something, or a few topics.

    - Been extremely attrative to groups if I plan to group, I dont want to be LFG for more then 5 minutes, I dont care if I group the worst group ever, I wont be LFG.

Beside that....usually elfs...the rest vary to much.  I cant be evil, rude or nasty toward others players, this is just not the right place to be it, and computers handle those bad behavior of me so much easier then humans...Am I helpfull?  Usually, not always.  Relatively kind, not always, can be a snob that ignore the world that dont revolve around me!  *grin*

PS: Here, in Canada, we have a singer that have a song named:  God is an American...just laugh at it, it is literature song now(a classic now), it is part of how ''some'' American leaders act and there is nothing you can do but laugh at it!    When some major artists where advertising against Iraq in the New Year show last year, they have a very long list of all the countries US bombard since WWII with that song going, and then they put a: How many of those countries have seen a democratic peacefull governement emerge?  And then a big flashy 0!   Hehe, just laugh!

    Hmmm, most favorite character ....

    A) When it comes to SiFi games (like AO) I enjoy playing the mechanic or techno-freak

    B) in fantasy settings I normaly settle either for a mage or thief and I tend to stay human (if possible) since it is hard enough for me to impersonate the cunning and stealthy scout (or assassin for that matter) or your friendly neighborhood mage without adding the weight to think about how an (dark-)elf or dwarf might react in that situation ...

    C) and finally in all genres I just love playing the martial artist / monk. I think this character can generate a lot of fun, especially if you give him/her a slightly mystical touch.

Having said this, when it comes to off-line games, like the good ole AD&D (yup still lost in 2nd edition) I encourage my players to take humans and give it their best when it comes to playing the character class. I had some pretty amazing results with that and some of the richest campaigns.

As for character flaws - hell they are the most fun! Ever played a ranger that is afraid of the dark or a mage that can not stand wood (what do you think magic staffs are made of, dude). My all time favourite was a player of mine who went with a bard that was shy in front of people.

I think flaws can be played out much better in off-line games (at least up untill now) since online-games tend to favor positive stats alone.

Anyone out there stumbled upon DSA - German Game named: The Black Eye ("Das Schwarze Auge") - quite old (maybe a bit behind D&D 1st edition) and it used to have a negative attribute for each positive one. So you might end up with a cool dwarven fighter but his lust for gold is so great that he just has to have it whenever he sees it ...

Hmm, this turned out to be a bit longer than intended, hope I didn't bore you to near-death.

LOL .. I did say I was American but I'm not a stick in the mud "Don't you dare make fun of my country" political patriotic anal retentive jerk. Hell I probably bad mouth my country more than most foreigners.. course that's cuz I'm middle - lower class and non military and jobless at the moment which makes me question our economy but hey.. makes life online with people from hundreds of other countries a lot easier :P
I'd love to hear that song I'd probably bust a gut laughing!

My favorite role is that of the reclusive or mysterious wizard who helps groups of characters lower than his level.  A kind of Gandalf or Allanon type figure.
