Sadly, the graphics card on my normal PC went haywire two days ago, possibly damaging the motherboard too, so while I sort that mess out i'm stuck using a ungodly terrible PC..and when I say bad I REALLY mean bad, like the kind of PC a old lady would buy solely to keep track of knitting and quilting auctions on ebay, checking her email to see if any of her friends died this week, and playing Bingo Online.. the stats:
Pentium 4 2.66Ghz, 256mb ram, 32 mb Intel standard graphics card
so from the looks of it I really can't play anything made past 2002 without massive lag.. anyone have any suggestions of what old game I might be able to play & enjoy for the weeks it might take for me to fix my normal PC? I'm currently weighing the follow options:
-Anarchy Online (never could really get into it before)
-Everquest 1 (i shudder at the thought.. an un-soloable, unplayable-without-massive-twinkage game with no one left playing it except long-time veterans)
-Diablo2 (this may be my best bet for the moment except I can't find all the old CD's to complete the installation)
-Dark Age of Camelot (played it before in the past, just installed the trial tonight but even with the graphic settings at the lowest it runs choppy and is a struggle to play..)
any other ideas?
One good thing is I have a TON of old-school PC games before MMO's beacme popular, so if worst comes to worst i'll try some of those.. but most of them won't run without an earlier version of windows.. isn't that sad? this PC is too slow to play 90% of MMOs yet too fast to play the fun old school games like Ultima VIII, Deadlock, Entomorph, Stone Prophet, Ravenloft, etc.. sad.

WoW should run on that! hehe
Unfortunately no, this Pc can't render stuff very well and you need at least 512mb of ram to play wow without tearing your hair out.. so that's out.
lol yeah that is pretty old......... I used to play WoW on a AMD 2800+ 512 of ram and a 32mb mx400...... It ran good on low settings. What Os are you using on that machine? Can you swap your ram into the old computer or have some old dimm's laying around.
I have windows XP on it.. I could potentially swap in 1GB of ram but i'd still be stuck with a factory-standard Intel 32mb video card that can't render 3d worth a damn.. so i'd still be forced to play an old game..and don't get me wrong I love some of the old games, in fact I like DAOC so much I might even re-subscribe when I get a good PC working again, but I just can't stand to play them choppily and with excessive lag.
yeah if its onboard graphics then yeah its not going to work well at all not even with the ram swap. Thats if it sthe right Voltage and if you have DDR2 memory I dont think it will work in a DDR mobo.
Well I do have an old Nvidia 6200 sitting around that I would just give to you if you lived close to me. It would atleast keep you playing games untill you got a new setup.
But yeah I guess your screwed. I would tap into some of those old games that you havent played in years.
you are prty SOL, i suggest working overtime while ya cant play any games then hit up the games when ya got a new PC.
for under 100$ you could get another 1gig of ram and a video card capable of playing wow just fine.even if ur only using the comp temporarily, still may be useful to make the one ur using more usable for ther future.always nice having a backup comp.
Ragnarok Online, Runescape. By the looks of the computer it uses Rambus Ram which is still excessively expensive.
