I don't really see how anyone can answer this until both games are live.
I mean I could give a statement which *I* personally believe... but it would just be my perspective.
What I will say is people who charm up Mythic talking about DAoC and its great RvR probably haven't played it lately. The probably aren't in WAR beta either (which I am).
But ^^ is just going to be perspective (aka my opinion where I'd go from there). I also really don't know much about Aion other than what I've read (aka ny personal experience).
So I just go back to..
I don't really see how anyone can answer this at the current time (without breaking at least one NDA altho I guess Aion is in beta in Korea? as well).
Now that we have so many WAR fans here im gonna ask a question: Is WAR combat instanced, limited in numbers, or outside of PvE zones? Does WAR engine limit battles in any way?
The final King encounter in the Cities is capped at 25-man but only so that everyone who participated in sacking the city can get a fair chance at the best rewards. Every game has a limit in numbers in some way, shape or form...if its not instancing it's graphics capability. But seeing DAoC, I think there will be some very massive battles.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Partly depends on the ruleset. Scenarios are instanced, much like the BGs of WoW. There will definitely be lots of open world PvP, as each tier's PvE zones are connected by a Factional-PvP zone. As you advance in tiers, the PvE zones stay the same size, but the PvP zones become much, much larger.
I'm not sure I can say anymore with out breaking NDA...
Lol at Aion some people never learn ... Aion is the next Age of Aion or is it Aion Saga of Choke... maybe Hellgate Aion ... ermmm Aion of the Burning Sea... . NCsoft

NCSoft has 2 of the 3 most played P2P MMORPGs in the world, funny thing cause they've developed only 2 P2P games.

Wow, Healer's worst nightmare. If I download the vid from youtube, will the quality still be crap? Anyway, pretty chaotic. What are the objectives there anyway??
Not bad..Not bad at all. Only thing I dont like are the sound effects. It sounds like those japanese cartoons. Im not saying its a bad thing, just not my thing. The game looks great though
In my opinion (yeah it's possible, after reading official infos, many forum and watching videos )
WAR
Very big epic history, many books and stories, big-big world and many races.. etc. First orcs was created here as some other things... So this game can't be with small content, no matter what and it is really great!
But i don't think it is dark like everyone try to say it is. Just look at elves, they are so bright and glorius... no really "dark thing" here, overall scinery bright too, exept for dark elves. I don't like humans society attributes look - it reminds me of nacism of WW2 and overall rasism thing...
I don't like gender align classes, 'cause if i want to play for ex. pure rogue/assassin class (with all its benefits and without other class skills/abbilities), I'll have to be dark Elf Female and no other character choise (if whitch hunter is pure rogue, then bright wizard is warlock ). Also this will make more "boy play girl and vise versa" situations (I, personaly, think it's gay-like stupid **** to play other gender then u are) And this is the case when rich game history/world apply rulls and u can't break them, which would be nice to break.
RvR and Castle Sieges look great, Siege Weapont really great ideas... u can say anything on that, but it remimds me WoW very much, it's just have lil'bit mature gfx and smoother animation. I tired of WoW. However it is the best mmo (EVE online doesn't count here - Best Ever ), but after 4 years of WoW (with breaks ofc.) I'm looking for something different.
AION
This game looks like Anime-style, not korean-style. And I like it, 'cause I'm more or less anime fan. I looks like Final Fanasy slyle sometimes
Game doesnt look like point and click standard asian grinder (no offence for Asians here). It's Quests-based, Story-based game, with big world and many opportunities to advance. Also, U can control ur char with WASD+Space (just like WoW and WAR) and u can "Click to Move" (WoW also got such option).
This game doesnt got rich story at background, but every rich game/book content was created by humans, so it doesn't mean game doesn't have a chance for rich story/world and overall game-slyle. This game also doesn't got restrictions of "already created rich background".
Flying is great experience, and I think i could be compared to Siege Weapons in WAR, because of it's importance to the game.
And AION deffinitely got the richest character customization I ever saw in MMOs. Overall concept make me think, that this game will be with more social aspects than WAR (despites it's guild system)
and one last thing... since non of thise games dont got blood gore and such, all blood thing changed to sparks as always - I like AION RvR video more, because it remindes me of "God of War' game on PS, which I, personaly, love
Korean games typically have beautiful graphics (such as Guild Wars) Their coding is typically horrible for the western mindset though. Things like click to move, invisible walls hemming you into certain paths, lots of grinding to level, things like that. Koreans like that with their beautiful graphics...western society doesn't so much. We'll take a little hit in the graphics department to get a game with better play to it. I.E. more interactive environments, more free exploring, better combat (i.e. no point to click garbage.) On the other hand, I think they are trying to convert AION to something more western, so who knows what they will come out with. I'll probably check it out, but I'm doubting I'll play it more than a month
-Guild Wars is not Korean, Arena Net is not a Korean company.
-Your conception abour oriental games is totally wrong.
-This point and click "garbage" started in the western games.

Dunt worry, All the sounds except for music will be changed in the Western Edition-

What are all those people fighting for though? Resources? Guild vs Guild?
I have to say that I'm just not into it. The spell and sound effects would drive me nuts, and it just looks like a giant zerg. I might be just a Western MMO fanboi though. Nevertheless, it feels like RF Online all over again.

They were fighting for a Raid boss. Legions get their people to kill a raid boss, an Elyos spots the Asmodians, calls his legion, and his legion comes to kill them so they can kill the Raid boss. This is happening after 25 days of playing.
All games from NCSoft are nice, becosue they deliver what they promised. And look Lineage II! Best Game ever? Look Guild Wars much people liked it, i don''t becouse of no End Content and Instances.
Not an accurate comparison at ALL considering WAR still has it's NDA up.
What Mythic shows us RVR-wise will never be as good as what a player can with his massive guild versus another - or whatever the case may be. This works in the same case for Aion, as a player can get much better footage than a developer can in the heat of battle, with people who know what they're doing.
And no, Lineage 2 was a grindfest. The best game I think from NCSoft was CoX, but then again, that wasn't even developed by them.

I guess in the end, It really comes down to taste...
Each and everyone of us may like different features of different games...
and I would not , for one second, Advertise Aion to people who don't think it's appealing at first glance.
Why?
Because, everyone has a mind set of what a "Suitable game" is ...
And as far as Fighting goes- Whoever mentioned that...
We aren't.. it's called contrasting diverse ideas...
I will give WAR a try, just to see what it's like and if i was right about it or not.
It's always good to give every game a chance!
But I just have a feeling that I like Aion better,
thats just me..
