In America, the majority of residential areas are stuck using 56k connection. The people, no matter how rich they are, have no choice but to use 56k connection.

Hmmm not really you could use one way satelite connection if you have enough cash, this will work with your 56k conection, you would that way get good transfer to your computer and bad from it. Use googles there are many companies that offer this internet solution...

Going by what you said, it still will not solve the problem, only half-way solve it.  MMORPGs need a good connection both ways, not just one way. The game updates what is going on with information being transfered from your computer too. With the satillite, you will instantly see someone swinging their sword at you, or shooting a gun or missile at you....... but with your bad transfer rate back... by the time the game updated your command to move out the way, or block, or parry, duck, or dodge, it would be too late... the enemy will be up to their 2nd, 4th, or 6th move by then.

I'm not sure if any of the eve veterans realize this but Eve has the best online Radio Show community ever! The ingame chat channel is eve-radio. They have contests all the time and the listeners are a vibrant bunch. I won a million credits in their occasional trivia contest..all this ingame.

It's great getting streaming radio while playing the game because it really adds to the immersion.

I like this review too it's a great view from a new player and articulates lots of what I felt starting the game.

There's only one server and it's in London, all players play on it, dunno if that's been pointed out yet.

Another cool way to look around is by holding down right mouse - fixes the point you are looking from (try it!)

And now we are all going to be noobs all over again because of the free expansion that will, er, change things just a little bit. 18hrs to new universe...!

100% pvp? why do ill informed people bother posting? 1 year in for me, 2 pvp encouters, both by mistake, and both very useful learning experiences too. (I lost both times since you ask, but it's tough to pvp on your own. When I rule the universe they will be sorry I can tell you hah hah hha ha ha that's why eve is so great!)

well if u get enough buddies with shieldtransfers or remote repairers the attacker can survive concord or gateturrets even in 1.0 space and just get a dent into the standing but to be honest i havn't encountered that kind of thing yet but i know it is possible and practiced in 0.1 to 0.4 space quite frequenty (and not to forget that concord ignores attacks in the asteroidfield <0.5, they have just to avoid docking or gating for a while). so it's a good idea to watch ure back wherever u are.
but most peeps there have enough spine to pvp only in 0.0 space and i hope it stays that way.

It's not that they have spine, it's that nobody would touch this game if they didn't want full open PVP because the game is impossible to play unless you go into 0.0:) Something about killing rats in freeport forever....

The newbie zones may not be open PVP but they ARE newbie zones. You can't stay a newbie forever and still say you are playing the game.

    Very narrow definition of PvP.

In Eve, you can compete in the market as a manufacturer, trader or reseller, and you'll be competing against other (player) manufacturers or corps. I don't suggest you go to 0.0 as a trader because no-one will buy your stuff, very few people will know it's there, comparatively.

Some of the biggest corps never leave empire, they seem to find plenty of action in PvP thanks to wars.

In a few hours time when Exodus kicks off, the rules will have changed again, if you or your corp is formally in an alliance, and that alliance is at war, you'll be fair game anywhere.

There is absolutely no such thing as a newbie zone in Eve. It's just another system, that has a school in it, where you happen to start. And one of the great things about Eve is that you might very well have a corp war going on at the so-called newb system gate or station, and you can watch them duke it out in complete safety.

New expansion out today has complexes (dungeons) and high end NPCs spawning wherever your agent sends you, "newbie zone" or not.

"Game is impossible to play unless you go into 0.0" dunno what game I've been playing for last year then.

not true... pvp combat all the time in non empire, low security space.  Not so in empire space .. where pvp agression will have you flying a pod faster than you can say "omg i have just been pwnd by Concord".   empire is safe for carebears like me to go about our business.

Get a clue about this game before posting something...unless some1 decides to stay in noob corp for the rest of his time and never leave 0.5 , he will get killed no matter what.

Staying in the noob corp is not an option also cos EVE and generaly any other MMORPG's are fun playing in team

  • ZipehZipeh Member Posts: 265

i said nothing about staying in a  noob corp. - i always recommend people get with a good corp as soon as they have a godo feel for that they want from the ganme.

you can stay in 0.5 and above if you want... few chose to of course.

you can get killed in 1.0, but is rare ..  and i was mostly aking issue with the comment that EvE is 100% pure pvp everywhere all the time..

and if i have not got a clue after 2 years of playing eve i guess i never will :)

U must add that u have to be in a noob corp also for that to work.

Shiva will transform empire in a war zone so if u realy want to avoid pvp better stay in a noob corp and never leave 0.5

only theoretically. while you can get killed by players in non secure (<0.5 sec status) space, you can also relatively easily avoid that. same goes for "don't join a player guild/corp", while the possibility to have a war declared on you (that allows others to kill you in "safe" space without npc interference) is possible, it is relatively unlikely to happen and costs the aggressor party money to do so.

in reality the dangerous areas in "low security space" are few (and can be checked before entering), and the threat regarding player corp warfare are really not as high as you indicated.

heh music is really not to my liking tho image but some of the shows can be entertaining.

The BIG lottery is also very cool, you can win 500mill sometimes. Occasionally the prizes are huge i.e. when BIG held the imperial apocalypse and the massive isk jackpot (over 1bill isk i thinks) lottery.
