The Mud Is Starting To Harden

Fall 2008 is looking good

Folks,

As of yesterday, today and I hope all the tomorrow's until later this year, the date is still Fall 2008.

As always, subject to change (especially since Guild Beta is going to begin shortly), but oh boy, I think the mud is starting to harden a bit.

Mark

I am willing to bet unless somethign pritty major bad juju happens in the next month / month and a half we will have our release date for this fall... EA is not known for its patience and having allrdy given almost a full additional year of funding I doubt any major release date setbacks will happen

Better to keep pushing it back and  polishing it, versus having another Vanguard or AoC.

While I have never played AoC since they pissed me off by having a huge patch before the 1 day testing event I was invited to. I can say without a doubt that it is not Vangaurd-like in any way shape or form.

Honestly to hit Vangaurd bad you would have to fire the entire UI team and then hire new people that know nothing about it and learn as they go. Completely ignore bug reports while leaving easily caught bugs in the game. Last but not least they would have to toss in some bad optimization to make it run worse. That MIGHT bring it down to Vangaurd level.

Anywho! Hope this kicks the 2009 release people in the bells and brings them up for air.

I agree.  With the utter disappoinment I am dealing with as an AoC player, I am even more excited to play WAR.

Before AoC released, I was concerned that I would be pulled between to games I was tremendously excited about.  I was worried that AoC would be so good that I would not have the time or desire to keep up my interest in WAR.

Well, to say the least, that is not a concern anymore.  I am a big lover of the MMO hobby and typically am always playing one.  AoC is close to being awful and the misrepresentation by Funcom is only partly to do with that.

Now I am only playing AoC because most of my guild is still in it.  Many guild members have chosen to stop playing and wait for the next game our guild will play.

I am literally counting the days until WAR is available to play.  Even if it is the pre-order early start.  I love my guild and am hoping they will migrate to WAR as well.  Until then I am casually playing AoC and enjoying the time in-game with my guild at least.

But yeah, I honestly believe that WAR will live up to the excitement more so than AoC did.  Funcom pulled a blatant bait n  switch on its subscribers and I am hoping EA/Mythic will not do the same.

"The winter solstice occurs on December 21 or 22 and marks the beginning of winter (this is the shortest day of the year). "

Fall sounds great! But really December 20th is still fall, which doesn't sound so great.

We will just have to wait and see what happens.  Patience. . .just a little longer.

The longest I am keeping my WoW sub up is until November 24th, marking my second year of WoW. If WAR comes before that then I'll just miss my anniversary.

EDIT: for clarification...it would be the start of my 3rd year

We can hope that the guild beta goes well with open beta following soon after.  Fall begins at the end of September so thats not too far away.

Im still going with an October release. The game is in great shape now, of course the guild testing could find problems no one knows but i m sticking with October.

I cannot remember were (maybe warhammer alliance?) but Mark said he does not consider December "fall", so look to September, October, or November.

I'm pretty disappointed with AoC too. I like some of the features, but the implimentation is bad.

Yeah, I think they're being extra careful with this Beta.  As Mark Jacobs recently confirmed, there's going to be MORE new people joining Beta than is currently in Beta.   That's a lot of people.

This is a very important phase for EAMythic.  I believe it is their third and final beta phase before the open beta begins later this year (possibly in late August ).  This could change, however, if something comes up with the new group of beta testers coming on board.

Seems more than likely after E3....get that event over with since its such a huge event especially for Mythic right now, then go back and focus on the beta!
