I dont like playing women at all. Some people have the "I just want a nice ass to stare at" motivation, which I find rather stupid. The whole point of the game in my view is to get into the character, to be the character, and staring at a polygonal ass is not very conducive to that end.
I wouldn't consider people playing as the opposite gender gay at all, most likely they do it because well you can take off her clothes and run around in your underware Hehe, Seems to me that a gay person would want to be the gender they are, but anyways.
I play female characters sometimes because I think some classes are better suited for the opposite sex, like women are better suited for magic, healing and stealth, while men are better suited for melee and ranged, oh that and most men are suckers you can tell them you are a girl and they give you stuff Hahahahahaha.
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
I honestly think its lame to play a female char just to get free stuff... honestly CactusmanX you are the type of player that noone wants on a mmoRPG...
Personally I have no issue with males playing female characters and vice versa and many times I don't care to find out when playing. I interact the same with all types of characters when playing and to me, something silly like that just doesn't effect how I will play the game.

Anyhow I have a few friends that ALWAYS play female characters in games. I think maybe they are just more comfortable with their fem side as opposed their manly side. I have a certain set of names that I name all of my characters and I do have 1 female name. I mostly use it for a class of character that is geared more towards the female gender. Point being I would rather play a female toon, then a questionable male one. Make sense?
Anyhow I don't play any of my male or female toons different from each other, and no I won't cyber with you... Unless you pay me lots of plat!
Hmmm if your male and you play a female char, it must be for 1) Attention, 2) try and get free gear instead of working for it, 3)you have gender issues 4) you want to spend your time punking male chars. Of course there is the misc pervert trying to play a female to befriend a RL female in game for what ever purpose. Those who are male that play female chars cause they want to look at a naked pixelated body, stop getting sticky keyboards and go get a date. Computers don't come with love holes

You're right. There could only possibly be 5 reasons why someone would play a female. On the otherhand, people like the narrowminded Mr, Thoom here only have an issue with people playing an opposite sex character because they're trolling for cyber, and get freaked out when they find out the hot elf chick they've been spanking it too for the last half hour is actually a man.
How's that for generalizing?
Frankly, I give two shits what the person behind the character is, so long as they don't act like a total dumbass. I do understand why women might play a male character, after reading a thread on the official WoW forums discussing the Strip or Die problem they've been having, wherein a few males basically said sexual harrassment was ok, and so on. The sheer amount of stupidity in that thread was staggering. Having played a female character as a male, I've gotten some interesting insight into some of the crap women put up with in these games. I can only imagine how much worse it must be in real life, though I'm sure many of the testicleheads I've ran into online would never have thte gonads to say anything in real life were you can latch on to them, and give 'em a good ole curbstomping.
Well another reason is that your RL wife creates a character and sometimes asks you to level it up for her...happened to me all the time in FFXI, my wife always wanted me to level her character.
personally, i cant get into a game when i am playing the opposite sex. i like to relate to my toon. and the lack of "junk" u have when playing a female makes that difficult. but...to each is own i guess.

Only reason I care is if I'm higher leveled and in a newbie area, and a wood elf chick asks me stuff about game or for help.. and I say ok.. because I like helping people.... then they start flirting with me and being all.. gay.. they are normally guys.. its icky..

This is the reason many (if not most) play female chars while been male
1)rewards.ppl are more likely to give to a female chars.sad or not blame the over stimulated teens with loads of virtual money
2)char type. Some classes just seems to look better as a female.A male enchanter just looks out of place. Some classes just look better female
3)tired of male chars.Usually after 5 or 6 male chars i go female just for a totally different look.
