So last night I decided to take apart one of our computers, and /i'm trying to put it back together. I was looking a guide to help me along the way, and it told me about these plugs for the lights of the computer (Mine were labeled H.D.D. Led, Power Led, and Power SW). I think the computer is an E-Machine T6524 Desktop, with all the default components, and I got up to a step that I'm extremely confused on; Where do I plug up the plugs for the lights?! The guide told me to refer to my manual, but I'm almost entirely sure that we got rid of it. So if you could please help me, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks everyone!
*Edit - I found out I have the MS-7184 mother board

There should be a some pins at the bottom of your keyboard that probably look like this:
[O] [O] [O] [O]
[O] [O] [O] [O] [O]
Note that the 5 pins are at the bottom and not at the top. If they are at the top those are USB pins.
You push the plugs into these pins, note to pair them like they are color coded above. I am not sure exactly how your motherboard sets this up, so your best bet is to experiment to find the right combination. Plug the power 1 in, then try to turn on your computer. Test this in each of the positions until it turns on. Once that is done you figured out the power one. Then you test for the reset one, then you plug them in to see if the LEDs light up.
I finally got the plugs into the right positions, but now I'm having another problem. For the power I don't know where the plugs go into (considering I don't have my manual). I'm not sure what kind of power source thingie I have, but if anyone knows where the plugs go into, please let me know. Also, if you know of any online manuals, please let me know. Thanks much! (Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but I have an E-Machine T6524, with all the default components).
If you could be a little more descriptive as far as what problems you are running into with your power supply I could try to give you some advice.
It's not really a problem, it's more of ignorance
But, all the wires, such as P2, P3, so on, I can't figure out where to place them, and like I said, I don't have the manual. Also, when I try to put the Hard drive in, I can't fit it in, there's a wire in the way, and I can't move it because it's fixed into that space. That hard drive is in this case thing, and when I pulled out of the computer last night, it was like that, and I can't remember how it was put in. After I figure out how to slide the hard drive with the case thing in, and where the plugs from the power supply go to, I think I'll be done with the computer.
*Edit - Turns out I was putting the hard drive in an entirely wrong spot... Now I just need to figure out where to put the wires from the power supply, and the wires from where the headphones, mic, and USB ports go, and I'll be done
Maybe it would be best to take a picture and post it so we can see what you're looking at.
Your power supply molex connectors can only fit in one way on each of your peripherals.. the connection to your motherboard can only go in one way as well. it's pretty fool proof.
As for your HDD not going in, I'd have to see what your case looks like to really know what problem you're running into.

They're not the best pictures; I used my cell phone. But the last two, are the Hard Drive thing I was talking about. And so far the only wires I've gotten plugged up into the motherboard are P1, the one by where the processor goes, and the H.D.D. LED, Power SW and Power LED.
Okay look at Image 60.
Thoe white things are your Molex Connectors. They will be plugged into your HardDrive (image63) and your CD/DVD Drive
You see how your HardDrive is on that sliding plate bay? That slides in right under your Floppy drive (if you have one) under the floppy drive bay.
Do you see that long rectandular connector from your PowerSupply -- the one thats bigger then the small white molex connectors? Plug that into your motherboard -- theres only one place it can go, its right above your white IDE slot on image 60.
Then just make sure your IDE cable (it is a flat ribbon cable usually with one blue end and one black end, but it can be any variation of colors) is plugged into your hard drive, and one into your DVD drive. Get your power connected and viola!
Also your PCI slots are open, but theres nothing in there at the back of the case to keep your ventilation moving smoothly, you'll want to cover your PCI slots at the back of the case ----- but one thing at a time.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I remember building my first PC, spent an hour saying to myself "where the f%$K does this wire/cable go?", dripping sweat all over the mobo (I was a big boned lad then) and swearing that I'd never do it again. It was a great experience which I've done a couple of times since and plan to do again later in the year...
