Ok, i think thos post is a Fanboy war lol, I am personally obsessed with Aion, and I simply want to say something, almost everyone here who are supporting war are saying things about castle sieges and how Aion doesnt have anything like it, lol, that is one of the main features in the abyss. There are also siege tyoe weapons in it, they are like giant mosters such as (what looks like) a flaming jellyfish phenoix thing. Sieges are in both games, not Just War.

I am going to play both games, as I can not correctly judge them on other characteristics, but yes, I am obsessed with AION, but it is useless flaming each others forums about em.

I mean don't get me wrong I'm not knocking war, hell I'll probably give it a try but people shouldn't come on the Aion forums and say this and that about war and bash Aion cause for all we know it's just lies b/c of the NDA. while Aion on the other hand is straight up fact.

    Those are better videos.

And a developer has publicly said that no one has seen the final graphic build, not even the beta testers. All we've seen is low quality videos; mainly has to do with the lighting system not in place.

And the combat doesn't look too slow in those videos. What you have to remember, is that all the footage we get is at conventions, meaning people who are playing the game for the first time have no clue what they are doing. In addition, the builds at the conventions are months older than the current beta build (also been said by a developer).

Current beta build, no enforced NDA, actually good propaganda for the game cause it looks great.

And yeah I know, NDA, there are no recent videos, devs told us this, and all those things that make WAR so awesome. But the WAR combat on conventions didn't feel half as fun as these combats look, guess we'll compare better in Leipzig since I'm going this year and since both games will have demos.

Guys, I downloaded an amazing video from an engineer that was released about 2-3 weeks ago. It's about 1000 x 700, it's also about 400MB long. It's very good...but it breaks the Nda. I might upload it somewhere, and if people PM me enough about it...I'll send a link.

Koreans like that with their beautiful graphics...western society doesn't so much.
We'll take a little hit in the graphics department to get a game with better play to it. I.E. more interactive environments, more free exploring, better combat (i.e. no point to click garbage.)

    Yep.

I've yet to play a Korean MMO that is fun because of these qualities.

There's a reason why most all of the Korean MMOs are FTP: no one would otherwise pay for such trite garbage.

Around 2 millions of people in the world are paying monthly to play the Lineage franchise, which is Korean, and which is coming from the same company as this game.

L2 peaked at 150k players in NA/EU which is quite decent comparing it to titles like Ultima Online or even Dark Age of Camelot. The game is still going after 5 years of its release with expansions and new content every 6 months.

Your argument is useless in this forum.

What I will say is people who charm up Mythic talking about DAoC and its great RvR probably haven't played it lately.  The probably aren't in WAR beta either (which I am).
But ^^ is just going to be perspective (aka my opinion where I'd go from there).  I also really don't know much about Aion other than what I've read (aka ny personal experience).
So I just go back to..
I don't really see how anyone can answer this at the current time (without breaking at least one NDA altho I guess Aion is in beta in Korea? as well).

    QFT~

You seriously need to invest time into both games and then come up with a personal opinion on which game you like more.  Listening to the majority of the people on these boards is just entertaining a bunch of smoke machines.  And yes, this topic is a pre-mature discussion, but it is a great question nontheless.

and lol @ the guy who got owned by Hello Kitty Online.

WAR looks like an online rpg whereas Aion looks like an online beat-em up!

RPG for me means depth, whereas beat-em ups are ultimately shallow.

Basically I'd rather play a gritty rpg with a solid IP than play with a computerised ken and barbie sim. (Oh I nearly forgot, Ken and Barbie with wings).

Each to their own of course, just my opine on these perty games that come from asia.

Feel free to qq qq qq qq qq

Eh, in some cases ignorance is bliss. He's just some guy who's dying to role-play some insignificant grunt in the animated table-top version of Warhammer. Oh, to each their own of course.

Aww why is everyone giving Hello Kitty such a hard time? My daughter and I are really looking forwards to it, something we can do together just like webkinz!

People who deride, honestly lack vision or kids of your own... ^_^

Silverthorn dude over there, the hell are you talking about? Feel free to not like the style, I abhor WAR's style, but your comments are baseless, and very wrong. Since you used the terms 'looks like' , it's clear how much reading you've done and ect... *insert more usual fan boy fodder*

Ohhhhh I came too early from vacation.... *sips pina colada* :D

Hopefully Aion will release a real, complete and FINISHED game and not go the Funcom and Mythic route...

I'm confused. Who ever said Mythic was releasing an unfinished game? If they were going to, WAR wouldn't have kept getting pushed back.

When they started (Mythic) cutting content for WAR today I lost all faith....

They cant both claim they will delay till it is finished and at the same time say they are cutting four fundamental classes..

    Greenskin armies with no ORCS????????????????????????????????????????

my eyes are on AION now!

Realize that when WoW released, there wasn't PvP battlegrounds, an honor system, or even WEATHER EFFECTS.

ALOT of games postpone content until after launch, it's just something you have to get used to.

Mythic isnt realeasing an unfinished game, they're keeping their customers happy by releasing it by the time they said. They had to make a sacrifice to do that, so they had to take some stuff off to polish it. It's coming back in a month or so. you dont like it, then keep it to yourself. WAR's not going down like AoC, they're actually fixing it, Funcom just said 'Here, take it! We'll fix it later'

AION is now the game I am officially waiting for. Mythic just blew it big time with their recent announcement. I hope AION can provide the fun and excitement I am looking without having a huge grind attached to it. It's your turn to shine AION so don't blow it like Mythic did.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
