I never played on the progression servers but i heard about how some guilds pushed through way too fast and it really wasnt much fun for all the lower guys. Maybe if they changed the rules to a set time of the expansions being opened or something. i dont know.
I played on them from day one, it was a total load of bollocks and a waste of time. It was and will be the same as any new game, many hard core peeps were 24/7 shift working accounts to get to be number 1 at what ever. EQI progression server guilds may as well of just be made PVP as it was not a team event but typical camp mob fest and detracted from what people really wanted.
IMHO a total waste of time and I have now stopped playing all $OE games, as they seem to have a vision but then allow others to change the vision half way down the path. If it aint broke then don't break it...
Make this game go away and make EQ3 already, no not Vanguard(even though now it's a good game). No crazy amount of instances like EQ2 but a fine mix of both.
I think an EQ 3 would be a failure because SOE would really be competing with itself.
SOE should suspend all titles, terminate all projects, license out all of its current titles, and focus on a single new title to be a competitive player against EA (WAR) and Blizzard (WoW).
Edit: SWG could have been that title. I have no idea why, but SOE seems to go against its core players:
The groupers, small guild people in EQ forced to raid (because raiders zipped through content)
The people that like the depth, complexity, and sophistication of customization to SWG
SOE needs a sci-fi MMORPG like SWG to compete with the heavy-hitters, but unfortunately its bad will due to the SWG debacle might preempt that.

The first month was an incredible blast. Everyone loved it. 400 players in Greater Faydark! Second month was stil extremely fun even though Kunark had opened. Month by month, it went down hill from there.
Regarding interest in a progression server; I would guess that SOE is about 12 months late. I doubt I'll play because:
1. can't find my install disks 2. tried patching the game on my HD; but clicking Play results in a CTD. 3. The zone revamps are a turn off.
But, then again I always said I'd play a progression server as a show of support.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon. In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
I had always said that I would play on any new blue server, but at this point, the answer is no. I *might* play on a new, no-transfer server (Stromm Jr), but the whole progression thing is a turn off for me, whether on a timer or unlocked by player action.

Not sure if I mentioned it, but now is a great time to return to EQ.
In fact, there is a small little revival going-on in the game now. The population is still relatively low, but it is definitely increasing. Will that be a sustained increase? Doubtful. Nevertheless, now is a good time to return to Everquest because it is FREE for old accounts and many people are returning.
I am somewhat disappointed by the lack of participation in the poll, but the poll skew is interesting because the demand for a new server is low at best.
I hope they do not have a new server for a few reasons:
Been there, done that
Zerg guilds exploit them
Hacking becomes rampant
Servers are released too fast to even catch my breath from the previous expansion
The content that makes a new server worthwhile (up to Velious, mainly) is for what... four months at best? After that, it is like a regular server.
I hate Everquest in its current condition. It is filled with undeserved gear obnoxious twinks obscene powerlevling and a vast dead empty world. Please get rid of the expansions and do another progression server and release a new game that shares the exciting qualities of the original. The market needs a difficult but interactive and lively game.
they should have a poll and release new servers by popular demand. i think they baited back alot of people with this summer free thing, and scared them off at the same time, if they give these players back the everquest they remeber perhaps they can make some well deserved money

It appears that there is no enthusiasm for another progress server.
I asked a few people today that I know if they would return, and all but one said no.
Only one said "maybe."

Get on it SOE.
And at the same time, let SWG die.
Funny you mention this.

I played on the first progression servers, had a hell of a time, lots of people around, was just like EQ of old.
Stupid zerg guilds had to go and screw it up.

I miss old graphics lol.
Wish they would stop trying to compete with WoW and make their own game and not focus on what WoW does.
Its a damn shame I tell you!
