What's a fun class to play for PvE and PvP?
My mains in EQ1 were monk, bard, and cleric.
Monks were fun cause of FD and they seem to have FD in vanguard too. What role does FD play in vanguard?
I loved bards cause of selos and twisting. What about in vanguard?
Any fun classes in general?

VG monk are rather similar to EQ ones. They are pretty much the only capable raid puller in the game atm. Bards are the best CC and puller in groups until you hit max level where most mob become immune to your cc abilities. Bard does not twist songs in VG, instead you build your own song with each component similar to a song in EQ. So essentially in EQ terms, you are playing many different songs without the twisting. Selo is still there as well as all the other great bard utility from EQ, however the biggest advantage of a VG bard is the significant dps increase for the entire group, so instead of playing resist song all day in raids which is still an option in same case, you'll be playing dps songs all day.
As to what's fun in general, you'll really have to play them yourself to find out. Two classes not found in EQ is the BM and Disc. You might want to give them a shot as healing class actually marks the biggest difference between VG & EQ.
If you like the FD aspect of the monk, then definitely play the monk. Honestly, just play each class to about 20 to see what you really get stuck on.
