is anyone playing this game after all?

i just came back for that free month, trying to give a game second chance, thought i cant see anybody on eu servers, all 4 servers population is low, and there is dead silence in general chat....

Is it so bad?!

Hmm, that sucks, hopefully someone here plays on the EU servers to answer that question. I play on the Seradan server which is probably the highest pop server.

    Good Luck

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

I agree with ya, i gavre Vanguard a shot too. I believe the pvp server's population is really low and other pve server are okay. the general chat is pretty dead though, but more and more people are coming or returning to vanguard due to the deteriote state of AoC and the fantastic job that SOE has done.

But i think its an ok game, i am still waiting for the big change/update thatz coming soon i believe in August.

It's not all that horrible but really most chat is just newbies and such asking for help...course my account went inactive two days ago so things could have changed. Game's nothing new though so the small population isn't making me want to subscribe.

Maybe Halgar dosnt have the same population as Seradon, but got enough people...I came back to VG 1 month ago and didnt have major problems in finding groups.Dont forget that people usually joins VG after they came back from job...

Hunter Nullail Destruction - 85 Ranger. Bristlebane (Solusek Ro) - EQ
    Knight-Captain Nullail - 60 Hunter. C'Thun - Pre TBC - WoW
    Nullail - 80 BE Hunter.Kor'Gall - WoW
Hunter Nullail - 55 Ranger. Telon - VG
    Nullail Destruction - Archer/Bard - Cerberus. FFXIV

I've been really enjoying Vanguard the last week or so... granted it still has some issues but overall the improvements so far have been very promising. I am looking forward to the next set of patches.

Vanguard is a very deep game which follows the old school days of EQ rather then the new breed of MMO's...

<Mod edit> I did played it a little bit. And quited, now i finded out about that free month, and i installled game last night. Made a new char, wood elf warrior on pvp server, and on Xeth or how you call it.

I dont troll, and i ask about game becouse i whant to play it, not becouse i whant to say its shit. Thats why i ask, do people still playing it, when i tryed it first time, it was not that bad on population side. So when i log in now, i see different picture...

It's an amazing game. I am a European living in Japan so I chose to play on Seradon. The population reads low, but there are always people playing. What I mean is that it doesnt feel like a low population...always other players running about.

After a week of playing I joined a cool Asian raid guild and they always have players online.

Just play on Seradon, you will find some European people there...like me he he.

I think/hope this game becomes huge after re-launch...because in it's present state it deserves a lot of respect and love. I intended to play VG and AoC as I had bought the AoC CE...but I never lod into AoC now, VG is too good and keeps me occupied.

    Regards

although i found people to group with a couple of times it feels a bit empty. I hope they will have a relaunch announced so that the population will grow again.

The EU server is Halgar not Xeth or the PvP server.
You might want to look at your posting style. Its not really so much that its aggressive, thats fine, but its offensive and personal. Name calling usually never gets you anywhere but into a mud slinging match and usually a warning or ban.

I see where you are coming from OP. The only real problem with your reply was the opening. It's a personal attack. Most of what is said around here are opnions and no matter who it upsets or who disagrees, it is allowed ,as it's an opinion. Just as long as it's not something offensive or negaive towards a member. Everything else in your posts are just fine and I can agree with a lot of it, but abusive comments like your first are flat out attacks and wont be tolerated by many people around here. I jusr felt it would be a shame if you were banned or something as a result because I would probably enjoy discussing MMO's such as Vanguard with you.

Everyone says  this game feels empty buts its SUPPOSED to feel vast and empty. It's a big open world for YOU to explore and adventure in. And people have houses so they don't just sit in town spamming random nothingness. Its easy to find a party because lots of people are playing, they just aren't all in _insert main town spot here_  jumping in circles because there is nothing to do. And unlike most games, when you get to max level adventuring, there are 2 other paths to go that take just as long.

You don't have to reroll and alt over and over because you hit the end. I guess Vanguard should make an instance where everyone has to go to do anything and then you'll see all the people playing but to me I like it how it is. But on the flip side, there is not enough NPC's walking around, doing things and making things feel more immersive. That is a true polish the game doesn't have but it really doesn't effect PvE, the point of the game.

Xeth is a US server, and non-prime time hours will see rather low population.  And being a wood elf certainly doesn't help as Kojan is the smallest continent with no high level content.  You can try Halgar and get off Kojan as soon as you hit lvl 8 or so.

Lol i got mines deleted, and the guy who trolled me , getting away with it, ach well, i love justice in world.

Thought i dont agree, and i dont admit. Enought about it.

Anyway i will still give a game second wind, thought its not about a number of pleyers, but quality. Btw when it says low population it means low population atm, or a number of active chars for thise server?

I play Halgar, and yeah the chat channel is dead...until you actually use it. Once you start using it at least 10-15 people sprout out of nowhere to help, as long as you are polite of course and you aren't asking silly questions!

I didn't find this on LOTRO, I asked how to show FPS and ping on lotro and no-one replied in 10 mins after numerous attempts, but VG i got answers almost instantly.

I often see Seradon turn to 'medium' population.

    Hello!

I play my main on Sartok (PvP Server) and I have noticed a small lowbie population starting to build. Which makes me smile, and I usually help them out in anyway I can. But in order to enjoy the pvp aspect, you really have to join a guild. There's a few big guilds usually always online, and they consistently do raids, groups, etc. And they have many enemy guilds that start pvp zone or revenge (gang) wars. Just last nite we were raiding Raz, and a bard was spawning npc to hassle us, so our strategy went from raiding to taking him out, then back to raiding. Tho, some may find this frustrating, I found it fun finiding this @sshat and taking him out. I really enjoy the player involvement aspect and challenge it proposes.

If you want the most out of the pvp server, join a good guild.

The population is fine and growing.  I just came back not to long ago and havent had any issues finding people to group with and things to do.

I think you'll find VG different from other MMOs. Most people don't play the 12 hours a day, as most subscribers are not kids on summer break or whatever. Also in VG, you have to start a conversation, people don't seem to randomly shout junk out, as conversations are usually held rather than other games where spam is the norm for chats. That's why it seems lower, and well because it is lower. The exception is that the community in VG are much more helpful/adult chatty overall.

Population is doing well, and I think it will get a nice boost with the graphics upgrades to the models.  I think this game will end up being around for a long time to come.

My first impression was the same when resubscribed before half year: there was some problem with chat channels and I have not seen any chat there. After deleting vgclient.ini (if I'm not wrong). It was reset to default and everything was working fine. Another issue is that main cities are almost empty. Peoples are spread all over the world in different camps. Some of them that have nice item chain quests like Warship are always well populated. Population all over the world is even better than high populated WoW server except main cities where in VG are almost only NPCs.

well, i have to admit, vanguard does have moust mature and helpfull community. It was now, and it still is.

Thought i started now, and i still get that very hard chopy fps :(.

That sence of big huge world is kind of cool aswell, but confusing aswell, you dont know which zones are for you, and which are not :(.
