Nice find Satarios ... interesting the posters are recieving it fairly well there and asking questions instead of going ape nuts...course they're violently more vigilante about who Posts there than they are here...here you say one thing is being removed and suddenly the entire Game is collapsing. Its the first time they've cut anything its hardly a sign of Death. Considering all there is and its not a major aspect remover..... 8shrugs* you'd think that Mythic went Ok guys we're removing PvP or something the way people are acting.
I'm very impressed with all posters. Even here on MMORPG.com where people are known for.... enthusiastic posts, I see far more disappointment than anger. Either people suddenly got really mature, or they somehow handled this very well.
I just don't get it. some really important stuff won't make it in at launch, but I'm just kinda "this is sad" than "GRRRR"
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

You know how it is in the gaming world sometime you have to remove a feature that can't fit right off the bat, and suddently it like Ragnarok just started.

The classes and cities were almost done. This is just lazy development. I think it sucks. I have been a big, almost huge champion of WAR for a year and today it stops. Now Mythic is just like all the other mmo developers rushing out there games to get return of investment. It sucks not ONE company cares to do it RIGHT...

How do you knwo they were almost done? Are you in the beta? Have you seen screen shots of the cities we haven't? The only video information & screen shots ever shown were of Altdorf and the Inevitable city. If you read all the beta test status updates every single test done on cities has ever been done in Just those two cities. As outsiders we have NO idea just what state those 4 remaing cities are in. But if the developers are saying they aren't ready..then they aren't ready and they're damn brave for being honest instead of giving us a bunch of "Here it is sorry its not finished" BS like MOST developers do.
I've been following war for 3 years now...this hardly changes my mind about the game or the developers.
If you mean Mythic is like the other developers like oh I dont know Blizzard that knows when to cut out things that arent' finished then I suppose your right. Because all the other devs like Funcom, SoE, etc they'll just shovel you a pile of crap and charge you 50 dollars then go OOPS
Mythic's doing right even if we don't necessarily LIKE it.
If you've only just started following MMOs in the past year or two or three years with WoW then you obviously live in dream land with MMOs...they are NOT like other games you cannot compare the development cycle & decision making for an MMO to a single player game. Companies that have done this have found their games basically wiped from the earth.
sorry but banthis is right....other than those 2 cities, the others werent in beta. So we have no idea if they were even worked on or not. Mythic was hellbent on getting the gameplay and bugs down on the game itself, and was opening up aspects of the game in peices to test as much as possible. I dontm ind the cities being left out and worked on..but the class deletion is kinda a let down, not that big in the grand scheme of things...but still a dissapointment
yea banthis is right... at least theres two citys.. at least we can have fun with those two while it lasts.. and try out another class too then ones that got cut.. Maby you can have fun with that..
Mythic will add them in patch later on .. then everything will be back to normal.. then getting some lagg crap game.. and not done..

He doesn't have to refer to you, he simply quoted your statement because YOU made it and that's his reaction. I was going to type something along those lines and say "not meant for you" but you've made that clear anyways.
Mythic saw alot of people would be disappointed by this, it wasn't an easy decision. Though it seems like it'll be a cheap unfinished product now (to the trolls) we don't even know what the cities are like yet. Wait it out, try it at release if you want to, or keep an eye on it to see when they add the missing classes/cities...
...Don't say they're rushing out a half-baked bug-filled PoS like AoC. That's for YOU trolls!
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

The WAR fanbois all laughed at AoC when it launched without advertised content. Now WAR's doing the same thing.
I think the lesson to be learned is never trust an MMORPG company, be it Mythic or Funcom or Blizzard.... They're all liars and snake-oil salesmen.
I am just happy that Mythic informed its player base ahead of time instead of feeding us BS. Yeah it sucks that some things have been taken out but I see their point as to why they decided to do this. Honesty goes a long way and because of this I am willing to accept it and trusting Mythic to make sure the rest will be put in later. Is it guaranteed? Of course not, but I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt just because they were willing to be honest in the first place.

Oy.
Please post links to evidence that these cities were ever in existance as anything OTHER than concept art. Because every single beta journal is evidence that these cities have never even been seen outside of the development house. And if they've not been seen then they're obviously NOT ready which means the poster you quoted is spouting absolute speculative nonsense.
I've played war and all this doom saying is absolute nonsense. BUt then again you'll just have to wait till Open Beta to basically remove your foot from your mouth.
Ok, now my conspiracy head is swooning.. They are right. Looking through past development newsletters Mythic went over Dwarf and Orc region overviews, but nothing except a movie for any of thier home cities.
Elven pairings same thing.
Went we start getting development news on Empire and Chaos, then we get detailed stuff on home cities.
Why skip the details of the other races and hand out the goods for Empire/Chaos cities?
Did they truly forsee that the dwarf and orc capitols are not going to be raided as much as Empire/Chaos? Did they think there was not enough content from GW to really make those capitols fit the lore for these races?
Or did they decide that we will just have two cities all along?
Okay, here's the second of the topics I will create today in which I'll explain in more detail, why we made the decisions we made. It's going to be a rather busy day so please don't expect me to respond to every question asked in response or to get into long debates. Obviously, I won't respond to any questions that are off-topic as that's why I'm creating these separate topics.
So, why did we make the decision to have 2 capital cities versus 6 capital cities and what impact will it have on the game?
1) The capital cities are the jewel in our RvR crown. If we mess up with them, WAR will not be anywhere near as successful as it could have been. These cities are unlike any other cities in any MMO that I have seen or played. The amount of true content that revolves in and around them (and not just sticking a quest-giver NPC in a city) is unlike any other game. Both RvR and PvE happens there in a way that also has never been done in any other MMO's cities. Each city has 12 PQs and almost 100 quests (RvR and PvE) that either lead to the city, take place in the city or lead out of the city as well as 3 dungeons.
2) Because we are focusing on just 2 cities, the team has been able to pour more time into each city and really make them great. They truly are living cities and what you will see and experience in them would not have been possible to do if we had to get 6 cities ready for launch even if we had a lot more time.
3) Each CC takes a tremendous amount of time to design, iterate and release. No matter how much time we spend on the cities during development and beta, once the game is released everything changes. The history of MMOs has shown all of us that no matter how smart the developer or experienced the team, mistakes are made. Given the complexity of our cities, we can expect the same thing to happen to us.
4) Keeping (1) and (2) and (3) in mind, if we had made the decision to keep in all 6 cities, the chances of things going horribly wrong at launch and post-launch would have increased tremendously no matter how long we worked on them. The last thing that we would want to happen is to launch a great game but when players actually got to the city siege part, things were not working. We will not go down that path. By focusing on 2 cities, we lessen the chance of that happening considerably.
5) One of our most troubling concerns was what would happen post-launch in terms of each side's ability to take a city. Having in all 6 cities would mean that the focus of each side could have gotten distracted, the player base more spread out. If this happened, city sieges may have taken a lot longer for each side to accomplish and that would not have been pleasing to anybody. I'm reminded of the line from Jurassic Park where Jeff Goldman says "Now eventually you might have dinosaurs on your, on your dinosaur tour, right?" If players said to us "Now eventually you'll have capital city siege in your RvR game" to us, that would be very bad.
6) We expect over the months post-launch we will learn a lot about how our cities actually function in a truly LIVE environment. We will apply these lessons to the new cities and look at possibly rotating cities in and out of RvR to not only spice up the RvR experience but to allow us to tweak and improve the older cities. This will be both in the short- and long-run to be a major win for the players.
In the end, I'm not sorry at all that we are delaying the release of the other cities. Even if we had an unlimited budget and unlimited time and believed that we could do 6 awesome cities at launch, we know that starting with two capital cities is the best way to ensure a great experience for the players no matter whether their focus is on PvE, RvR or a combination of both.

The only thing that truly sucks is the class removal.
People realy need to settle down and stop goign doom doom doom...we were promised more than anything epic battles and pvp...we still get that. Yes there's less variety at launch to which city we go after but you know what? Sometimes Less is More....many games including Vanguard have proved this they gave to much and paid the price. I've never once claimed that WAR is the uber overlord WoW / AoC smasher ... I like the game..I like the content its going to offer. Its offering me things that 1 new to me or 2 set in a way I've not experienced. I also like their design philosphy of letting the players choose instead of being forced into certain activities or groups in order to progress. So please don't stick words in my mouth.
