Best crafting MMO?

LyikosLyikos Member UncommonPosts: 52

I'm looking for a game where crafting is a big part of the game, I tried EVE and PotBS but those won't cut it for me due to being too impersonal. Factories or terminals make all of your stuff and in EVE you can't even walk on the ground. Tried Vanguard too, but it burns my laptop to the ground, I'll wait till I build my gaming desktop before playing it again. I'm looking for something that resembles SWG, it was a fun run, but it got boring. And I do want there to be a combat system for it. I'm thinking of resubbing for PotBS to pass the time, but decided to check here to see if I can find a gem like what Runescape used to be 3 years ago (not counting the community).

Any pointers?

You could try Ryzom when the servers are back up soon.

The last time I tried Ryzom, I got the impression you made guns out of watermelon seeds and branches. Is that how it really works or did I not just play long enough? That was the main thing that put me off that game.

EvE Online for the best simulated mass production market.

SWG for the best detailed/customized item crafting system.

Also is there any Korean-Grinder type games with good crafting that are well-translated. I tired Seal Online and Perfect World but they read like someone babelfished them >:/

Goonzu Online / Luminary - which are the same game, just two different publishers, has an amazing crafting system.  Sadly, combat is very limited and rather boring, so that's why I don't play any longer.

Dream of Mirror Online has a good crafting system as well and is much less boring combat-wise, however the economy systemisn't quite as strong as in Goonzu/Luminary.

Both are well-translated and more of the "top notch" among Asian games.

Vanguard has a great crafting system if you are interested in being 100% crafter.  There are many many recipes and variables that adjust what you make.  The crafting process is like a mini game.  Crafters have a full set of unique gear and stats.  There are crafting quests and crafting work orders that enable you to craft and make money and be fully self sufficient from the start.  You can even buy all that you need from the broker for harvesting items to make things that you want to sell.  You can play the game as a crafter 100% and never kill a single mob if you want to.  And lastly guilds will want you so you can make them all the amazing things only crafters can create.
