AoC on a high note.

SacfedSacfed Member UncommonPosts: 210

Readers,

I still don't understand all the negativity about AoC.  I've been an 80 Assassin for about 3 weeks.  Our guild is strong and progressing well.  The community that we are building in our guild is the best I've seen in years.

I guess I just want to say that its not all that bad, in fact I've been enjoying it more than any other game I've played.

I'm looking forward to progressing and pioneering this game with some of the best guild mates out there.

A special thanks goes out to all the guilds on Deathwhisper that are making every day I play interesting and a motivation to build our guild even stronger and tighter.

See you all in Keshetta.

Randori of  Deathwhisper

 Love you long time!

    Good there's always people who will like a game, regardless of it's overall popularity, quality, or any other factors. You have fun in there while the rest of us talk about how bad it is, because you shouldn't care...if you like the game.

    AoC needs more people like this guy!

    --------------------------------------
    A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

    Order of the White Border.

    Well, for me, it's really more of a hate towards the company in charge of the game rather than hating the game itself. I just don't like their work ethics if you know what I mean.

    I am also having a great time :) Leading the knights who say Ni! (and yes they actually do run around saying Ni).

    We have over 150 active members, I think that is classed as successful. None of us rushed to high end  content because we knew there was/is issues at end game. Our moto is to have fun and savour the content of levelling. Pretty sure it will be polished when we have 24 men to raid, and 48 to siege.

    Unfortunately these hate boards do nothing but scare away people from what is a great game. Yes it has issues, just like all the other mmos that get released. Im feeling sorry for WAR already.

    I find it interesting that the hate squad appear to go out of their way to dump on this game. Posting its not for you and its issues in a constructive manner is fair enough however.

    Anyway, buddy codes will be released soon, and many peope are soon going to find out that the hate posts are not warrented (not anymore). We are always looking for shrubberies so, if you have one then give us a nudge on dagon eu to return it home :)

    [edit] For those people who have this wierd idea that there is no end content, there is raiding, sieging, pvp minigames. yes there is issues with sieging at the moment, but its early in release and shown by the progress by developers it will be fixed in no time. Those who say there is no end content must be playing a different game, or just simply haters who say anything to put this game down.

    Then you have never played an mmo at release. With that attitude you shouldnt. How is there little to no end game content? Ah i see, you want as many raids and things like wow has after 4 years? Come back to me when you have something honest and constructive to say.

    Heres something honest, Funcom overhyped the game, they left out a good portion of the features they promised at launch, I mean cmon they marketed it as a pvp game, and they still havent worked out sieges?

    The truth of the matter is, they were and are dishonest as a company, and the deserve the pitchfork toting angry villagers banging at their front gate.

    No matter how you sprinkles you try to put on this tightly coiled pile, its still a piece of crap.

    AoC, is an addictive game with a rich and detailed fantasy graphical environment, cool atmosphere and thrilling music.

    Yes, it still has many bugs but the immersive world makes you forget everything.

    I have reached level 42 and I am satisfied by the game's playability and it is definitely worth the money I've spent.

    I've been playing RPG's and action games since the era of Baldur's Gate and Diablo and this title has  copied good elements from different platforms and games into an interesting  final product.

    I especially like the interface, the beautiful scenery, the overall feeling and the fact that I am just playing hours and hours without being bored and always coming back for more!

    You need to elaborate on this 'lack of content', because its just complete and utter lies that there is none. Also I shudder to think a ROLE PLAYING GAME has quests in it and you have to complete them to gain xp.

    [edit] In fact, im going to say that the questing in AoC is MUCH MUCH better than in previous games. Yes half a dozen or so were bugged but fixed. But the system they use (cut sceens) for questing is excellent. Especially the destiny quests. The only thing i would say on their questing is that the dialog on quests (apart from destiny ones) are not in quests over level 20.

    True or false, they lived up to the promises listed on the box at launch date.  Answer truthfully now.

    Well, you see bud the difference between me and you, is that I look at things on a realistic and constructive basis. Im playing, and im happy with it, and so are hundreds of thousands of other people. With the release of buddy keys incomming and the xbox, this game is going to blow any competition out of the water, including wow given time. At least Funcom are trying new and innovative things unlike anyone else.

    Enlighten me to anything AoC has done that hasnt been done before. I didnt find anything about it even remotely innovative.

    Its fine that you like it, though I have to question why youd take a logical argument so personally. However I feel that after 10 years of MMOs we should have better, and should expect better.  Honestly as forementioned I cant think of anything new or innovative about it.

    A typical fanboy reply. Just when i though you people are capable of making a balanced and un-biased conversation; you have to write lies and utter nonsense just to make your favorite game look good.

    Questing in AOC is much much better than in previous games? i would prefer Guild Wars and Lord Of The Rings quests over AOC any day. How are they much better? do you mind explaining it to me?

    Well, it appears its the other way around, im tired of seing people giving untruths and unrealistic comments about age of conan. Dont like it, dont play it. Granted, its fine posting you dont like it but people like you go out of their own way to deliberatly slander the game. Based on no knowledge of how mmos work. Your best off sticking with tekken and ludo. No doubt you can find something wrong about those games and bitch about them for 10 years.

    Surely if LordJim is playing for hours & hours without being bored & always coming back for more then he hasn't run out of content & doesn't find the quests grinding.

    Is it just quests in general that are the problem or just the ones in AoC, because that is often what content is judged by so to complain about too much of one & too little of the other is a bit of a Paradox.

    I am also enjoying the game & haven't run out of content yet or found the quests any more grinding than those in any other MMO. I would even go so far as to say that the quests in AoC are more interesting than those in other MMOs I have played, but that is just my personal opinion.

    No-one is pretending that there aren't any issues with the game at all, just trying to express the fact that they still very much enjoy playing regardless.

    The people that seem the most unhappy are the ones less interested in 'relaxing & enjoying the atmosphere' & more interested in 'Maxing out their DPS'. Anything gets boring when you reduce it to bare mechanics, but again that's just my opinion.

    If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

    Im of the old school "the journey is more important than the destination". However when I would play AoC, I did one of  3 things, quest, craft  or grind. What else is there to do? Is this all we expect from a game that took 5 years to develop?

    Guess I expected better than to beta test a game for the XBOX 360 users.

  • ShastraShastra Member Posts: 1,061

    Oh and not to forget same starter area for all your character, same quests and same damn boring things to do. It took them 5 years to come up with all this? now whats original about that? and fanboys here say questing is better than any previous mmo's? is this innovation or going a lot of step backwards? what a bull!

  • ArckenArcken Member Posts: 2,431

    Im not saying that people shouldnt enjoy it, Im only saying it was a huge disappointment to me, if you like it great, Im jealous, In fact I wish I liked it so I didnt feel like I got bilked out of my money.

    btw heres the raiding part of endgame that you claim does not exist:

    ~~~ Tier I ~~~
    Kylliki's Crypt
    * Champion of the Honorguard
    * Kylliki
    Yahkmar's Cave
    * Yahkmar
    The Dragon's Lair
    * Vistrix
    ~~~ Tier II ~~~

    Blackring Citadel - Left Wing

    *Exorant, The Gargoyle Master

    *Yarekma, The Soul-Eater

    *Sabazios, The Insane

    Blackring Citadel -Right wing

    *Ahazu Zagam

    *Incubus & Succubus

    *Seruha

    *Chatha

    Blackring Citadel - Mid wing

    *Athyr Bast, The Shadowmaster

    So thats 6, 24 man raids with total of 12 bosses. Thats pretty good for a new game no? Then theres the pvp minigames, 3 of those atm. Then theres battlekeep sieging (yes i admit a bit bugged atm but therye working on it.).

    Isnt that pretty decent? When my guild gets there i cant see us being bored.

  • BizkitNLBizkitNL Member RarePosts: 2,546

    You WILL get bored. But that's with any game. Human nature, I suppose.

    The only thing that caught my attention was the combat system. Found that to be quite refreshing. Other than that, I might as well stick to WoW. AoC Isn't the PvP game it was hyped to be. This could change, seeing how everything is still in the works, but we'll see.

    Love it, hate it, whatever. I'm caught in the middle. The "meh" factor.
