I can say with 100% certainty that when D3 comes out i'll drop whatever i'm doing to play it.. I'm an old school gamer and played D1 and D2 religiously when they came out, no way i'd miss out on playing the long awaited 3rd game. Would be awesome if the game had an age restriction of 18+ in it so little kids can't play and foul it up like what happened to WoW.. how nice would that be? Not gonna happen but in a better world, it would.
The 18+ Mature rating doesn't do anything to stop the kiddies...don't beleive me? Go take a look at AoC...
I've given up MMOs, but not for Diablo 3. Diablo games are more mindless and grindy than any MMO I've ever played.
I'll return to the MMO genre when someone finally gets it right. Or maybe I'll play D&D 4E over the Internets. If that actually works smoothly, my MMO days are ancient history.
I'll definately be playing D3. Whether or not I'll be dropping MMO's will depend largely on whether or not I'm even playing an MMO. If I am, I probably will be giving it up because I really don't see me having enough time for both and most likely D3 will win out, but who can say for sure at this point.
Yep, I'm getting it...been waiting a long time for it. I hate fantasy MMOS, but I love the Diablo games. It's the fun I've been missing for a while. Not sure what it was about those games, but they were fun.
I dunno, about 6 years ago I played my first MMO, and since then no single player game has been able to capture my interest. (though I did play HL2 for about 3 weeks)
I've tried to go back to single player games, but I just can't, they hold no appeal anymore.
D3...no big deal. While I loved the first game, the 2nd was a turn--off to me and I shrugged it in less a month.
Now, two games might change my mind.... Starcraft 2 and Fallout 3. But other than those, no, I'll be playing some form of MMO ad infinitum I think.

I know I will buy it because Diablo II was my first love as far as PC games go. I can't believe it was 8 years ago that I was logging onto closed battle net for the first time. Wow times flies.
I watched the gameplay videos, and I thought it was appealing, but I can't make it into more then it is.. A clickie combat game that you can mass kill hundreds of monsters, look for shiney glowie loot, and rinse repeat thousands of times over. You can't get that 'god-like' feeling in most MMOs like you can in a Diablo game. Too bad its a network game, but still going to be fun none the less.
I don't think many people will give their MMO for D3, but it will be a nice retreat when you just want to own the world.

You're not suggesting that Diablo II and/or Diablo III is a single player game are you? I'll have to take exception to that.

lol I still remember griefing people with my uber hacks in D1 and 2. My fave was Necro, poison spike. I was able to wipe whole dungeons in minutes with that. My whole entire inventory was filled with hacked charms lol. Once you beat the game a few times on all difficulties and played nice on the normal battle net, the next logical step was the hacking servers.
I won't be giving up any game to play D3. There is not anything that would get me interested in D3 in the first place. I played D1 and D2, they were ok for there time but that time has passed. Blizzard, at this point, doesn't have anything in its tank except re-runs. How about something new!

you'r'll mistaking maturity for age. The internet attracts all sorts, especially those that can't act their age.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Im happy that i never picked up AoC since i got bitten by Funcom with Anarchy Online and the bad taste didn't go away.
My bar is raised high for D3..........
Im sure ill play it for a month or 2, mmos r what i play in between good single play rpgs, whitch get rarer by the year.
I can't wait to play it either, I'm just being impatient about the eta of it coming out, will it be 2009 or 2010 or perhaps further?

To me Diablo 3 will be an excellent single player or Network game
But it wont put me off my rapacious addiction to MMOs
I have too much fun

Give up MMO's? Nope.
Take a break for a while to enjoy D3? Oh hell yes.
