That would depend on why you stopped playing the first time?

Possibly.  If you like playing a class that's hard to build and hard to play, requires a good deal of focus, and will either be great or terrible based on how good you, the player, are, then yes.

Monks are very complex classes, even in D&D, and the monks in DDO have not gotten simpler.  You can deal a ton of damage if you know how, but if you don't, you'll be dealing the least amount of damage in the group.  You can tank very well if you know how, but if you don't, you'll be sitting around wondering why all the monsters are attacking the barbarian over there who has 20 less AC than you do.

Playing a monk is tough, but it's incredibly rewarding when you manage to pull it off.  Out-killing the barbarian in the group (which is quite possible, if you're careful) and then watching him zerg just to try to catch up to your kills is hilarious, and the fact that you are the best anti-caster tank around (especially once you hit level 13 and get your spell resistance) allows you to be the main tank in some situations, too.

But then, I liked the game even before monks came out.  Monks just made the game even more fun, for me.

See, part of what made DDO fun, for me, is that I love creating new characters to see how they handle the content differently.

If you left because you had no new quests to do, you probably won't have many new ones when you come back.  If you're willing to mess with some alts, I'll bet there are some quests around (especially in the revamped Three Barrel Cove) to work on.

*shrug* Make a trial account and check it out.

But seriously, if you get bored with your capped character, try making a new alt.  And don't twink it - twinked alts are boring in the same way as capped characters can be.

Can you really twink a character? I've tried it before with 75kp and with all the level restrictions you cant make much difference, you're more likely to loot the items by the time you hit the lvl that req them.

    One word: tomes.

What's more, you can kind of twink characters' items via the auction house.  There's no way a typical level 3 would have dual +1 acid khopeshes, but a twinked one could easily have them.

Potions are another big thing - a large stock of barkskin and heal pots goes a very, very long way, at lower levels.  Later on, the groups get a bit more balanced in their ability to help each other, but early on, you can be quite uber with the right potions.

Aside from that, it's true that really uber-twinking your characters in DDO is tough.  Twinked characters will have a huge advantage in stats due to tomes, in addition to the 32 point builds, but their items won't be anything particularly amazing compared to everyone else.

Sure you can, RR Mithril FullPlate + Tower Shield can put you in a low-mid 30's ac by level 2-4 which is pretty much untouchable, my newest Pally was using a RR Shocking Bastard Sword Of Pure Good (which will be switched out for a Khopesh later) at level 2 which tears up the early content,  wands, potions, Witchdoctors Mantle, Cloven whateveryoucallem Beads,  Gatewardens Girdle, theres a lot of low level twink gear that allows you to blow through the low level content fast if that is your wish and you have the funds and or equipment.

I keep a set of Rogue skill gear for each level 1,5,7. This allows me to make Rogues that might start a little lighter on their INT than you would normally feel comfortable doing and still be capable of handling low level traps.

There is a ton of effective twink gear.
