How much would you pay?

RevelRevel Member Posts: 100

I see so many posts on various boards these days about the lack of a good MMORPG. Like many others, I have followed many games up until their horrible release, Horizons to AOC.

I have been gaming for quite some time, and can always EASILY justify the 15.00 I pay per month for my gaming. Actually, I would be quite happy to pay more, for a good game. How much more...for a good, and actual 'next gen' MMO, I would probably go as high as 25. For a blow-you-away next gen game, probably 35.

For the game I think we'd all like to play, I'd commit to 50 a month.

Would this impact casual gamers? Gold farmers? 'Kids'?

Would this extra income allow for the staffing to actually provide in-game events run by game masters, much less real in-game support?

How much would you pay?

I will pay a max of 15 a month; however, I do play my cards right and usually 4 out of 5 MMOs I play that has a monthly subscription, I play for free.

But IF I have to pay, 15 is the absolute maximum Ill ever pay. Even if its pure gold.

Thinking that way, "how mutch would you pay?", "i would pay more for...", is exactaly why the MMOs are in the state they are.

As soon as people start saying they would pay more, the companies go "hmm... lets squish some cash out of this suckers", and deliver all kinds of crappy gaming, like all those, kid driven, asian created, games, and all those western crap, that is starting to pop up also.

The lesson learn should be, money not always can buy quality.

Alas, most of the people that "would pay more for this" does not know the value of it.

Quoting Oscar Wilde: "They know the price of everything and hte value of nothing."

If it were the game I wanted, a "true next gen" game and one I could play I'd pay $25

But it would be SWG pre-CU and without all the bugs and better more immersive content.  (yes I am a parrot, but when it's true, it's hard to stop saying it.)

Mmo's can make money hand over fist.....why on earth would you want to pay more?

If a game is good it can have 1 million subs, thats 15 million a month. Thats 180 million a year, so in he first year a game can DOUBLE its investment since no mmo has spent more than 100 million on development. Games usually last more than 5 years, which makes it almost a billion dollars. That is subs only, most games charge for the box and expansions also, so why do you think more money will help?

If you want to spend more, buy a second account or hell play three games.

    Personally,

After many years of MMO play I am having trouble justifying 15 bucks a month to be told to "kill 10 more rats" then raid.... in broken incomplete games......

again and again and again and again and again and again..............

I think when I started playing MMO's AC cost 9.95 a month? Then they went to 12.99 and finally to 14.99. The complexity, depth of play and challenge has deminished with each price increase.

The games "look" better these days but the gameplay is on the level of a cooked turnip.

At the current state of the MMORPG genre, i'd pay no more than 15$.

But.. If some developer was to come out with a fantastic new game, filled with depth, as bug free as possible, and a gigantic developer team that'd chuck out huge quality content patches at least once a month.. I wouldn't mind paying 50$ a month - Well, as long as i was sure that those extra 35$ didn't land in the pockets of some rich bussiness men, but rather went to improve the game.

But till such an utopian company comes around, i'd never pay more than 15$.
