Hey OP, how about making a few more negative responses to your poll. <SARCASM>
LOL @ Your Poll Selections.
The game is good, very smooth, very polished.
It's slower paced than other MMO's however, it's almost entirely PvE centric.
There is PvP, but it's kind of musical chairs with orcs.
The devs at Turbine I think are the best in the business, no B.S. Very open with their player base, they DO listen to their players. Frequent HUGE updates to the game make it nice, usually every major patch adds a Zone, a In Game System, or something of major significance.. And it's always smooth, never big ridden or untested like other popular (or not so popular games).
I still have an active sub, not playing it as much since most of my friends shifted to AoC..
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....
Great game, but maybe lacking in what you want for PVP. Awesome game for PVE and story based play and RP though.

It's very worth it as long as it's your type of game. Very pve centric, there is pvp but not ffa by any sense of the imagination, the book quests (and the game itself) are story driven.
Beautiful world. The gear/characters go from "good" to "damn shame".
I love my swords and shield and armor though I am using "cosmetic armor" as the actual armor I am using for my stats just looks horrible.
There are bad things of course. Mobs walking around just waiting to be killed, that sort of thing. But there are extremley powerful and even sublime moments.
One of my favorites was riding in the misty mountains during a powerful blizzard and looking off in the distance to see flickering fires throuhg the wild snow, realizing that it was the distant fires of goblin town.
Loved it.

Ok game, very simple and cookie-cutter (I heard theres coming some fixing on that later). Graphics are pretty nice and a bit cartoony.
If you are into PVE theres lots of stuff to do but not much for PVP'er.
LOTRO is the best mmo on market atm
LOTRO sucks badly. You get to max level then nothing to do. It is very boring when maxed, which btw took less than 2 months playing a few hours here and there.
hahaha...look book 14 in a week, Moria coming soon, legendary items, level cap to 60. There will be more than enough to do, don't worry.

Pros: Some of the best PvE on the market, Awesome community, Awesome devs, Constant stream of new content being delivered, best graphics so far in my opinion.
Cons: No real PvP to speak of, just monster play which is fun for a while but lacks long term rewards. The game doesnt really capture the "epicness" of lord of the rings. DONT play this game if LOTR hold a special place in your imagination, because it falls short of expectation and leaves tolkiens world a little dull in your mind. Major class imbalance issues on what little PvP there is, if you want to PvP roll hunter, loremaster or burglar.
I suggest a new poll, based on this one...
How lousy was the OP's poll?
a. Exceptionally lousy
b. Very lousy
c. Not as lousy as I thought it would be, but still quite lousy
d. Not lousy enough
e. Not lousy at all
f. Not lousy, just done incompetently
g. Not lousy, just done by someone with an axe to grind
Just to be on-topic, however, I'd say it's a great game for a casual PvE gamer and/or one who really enjoys the Tolken lore, but generally not a game for the hardcore player. They have been very consistent with free expansions and you can tell that Turbine cares about and is invested in the game. And it tends to skew towards a more "mature" demographic than WoW for whatever reason.
PvP is more enjoyable as a monster.
If you are just playing MMOs I think you'd love it. If you've been playing for 5+ years, no its just like the rest of 'em.
I think its a breath of fresh air in the world of gear-centric, pvp focused, MMOs out now. I don't think it's like every other game. Far from it. It is easy to get into if you have played WoW or other games, but other than that it has a different feel to me.

Exactly what i thought.
LOTRO has the best PVP of any MMO out currently. Primarily because its based far less upon loot than any of the other MMOs. You can PVP with nothing more than level 50 obtainable quest items and consistently beat someone with the very best raid gear.
No other MMO I've played, except for Guild Wars at release had such skill based PVP in an swords and sorcery style MMO. WoW pvp is the worst of the bunch, and Mythic ruined the DAOC pvp.
PVE by far is the best of any MMO out currently and in the next year or longer, including WAR which is going to bust.
ty for the info guys, i put so many negitive polls because im currently angery how AoC is an Epic Fail lol, hows Burgerler PvE and PvP wize? i kinda like assassins/ninja/rogue classes best
Alot of people play-ED it...
this game is the only post-WOW mmorpg to break 100k subs (not sure about AoC...)
cant say how many are still playing now.. anyone knows?
I've been playing since beta. The game has some of the best graphics and one of my favorite worlds in an MMO. Turbine has an incredible dev team that interacts with the players and adds a lot of things per our request. It's very rare to see that in an MMO. The playerbase is almost always friendly and helpful, rather then being full of immature kids like most games. The game was lacking content in some areas at the beginning, but if you are coming into it now you will have more then enough to last until whenever the expansion hits.
The only negative thing about this game is that it doesn't really have the addicitve pull that most MMOs have. You know, where you can't wait to go home and play some more. I've taken weeks off from playing and come back no problem. As a casual player, this is actually a positive for me. For the more hardcore crowd this probably isn't the greatest game out there unless you like leveling tons of alts.
I'm also back from AOC and am once again in love with the incredible amount of polish this game has.
Burlgar is abit like Rogue but its NOT a DPS class. (but have decent burst damage). The main roll is Debuffs, conjunction starter and some CC... (conjunctions=fellowship manouver)
Its pretty slow soloer but great in groups because of the conjunctions...
And in PvP its probably one of the best classes... the Creeps (monster players) whine alot about burglars but thay alot of fun to play in PvP!
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
i wont get ridiculed for rolling a Burgler and wanting to PvP right? i will be useful in PvE right?
Yes you will be useful in PvE.
Prefer Vanguard (classes are really fun, world is huge and impressive, craft is really perfect and diplomacy is really interesting) but NOW Lotro has a lot of things to propose.
Maybe you should better wait for Book14.
Great game, but it's not for everyone. If you're looking for a super fast paced, action packed WoW-clone with spinning characters and over the top particle effects from weapons and abilities...you won't find it here.
If you're looking for an immersive, detailed, story driven and quest driven game that is about as solid as they come with frequent updates, developers who listen, and an expansion soon...try the trial and go from there.
Good luck.
I didnt vote in the poll but it really depends on what you like in your game ..... LOTRO has some nice things in the game (graphics, quests mainly) but it isnt real challenging and gets boring after a few weeks.....Theres alot of running/riding around and if youre not into quests I dont recommend it......I played all 7 classes to 30+ but after level 35 or so just couldnt stand playing any of them anymore.....I heard some of the end game stuff is fun (rift for one) but it was just too boring for me to keep going......
I've been playing LoTRO since open beta, and I still think it's a blast. I want lifer after subscribing for six months, and I don't regret it a bit.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
Even if Im a big fan of the game i also find the levels 35-40 the most boring... I dont like to quest in Evendim at all (My first char outleveled it before it was released).. My first alt was stuck between thoose levels a long time but once I got her to 40 I started having fun again and the last 10 levels was alot of fun (most thanks to Forochel that my first char never been to)
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
