Movement during spell casting?

Without breaking NDA, has anyone seen or read anything about casters being able to move while casting?

One thing that I always loved in Vanguard was that we can actually move around while spell casting, we moved much slower during the cast but it was still a very enjoyable feature. I hate having to stand still while casting a spell so I was hoping someone might have seen or read something.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

    I second this. Good post!

I loved Vanguard style walk-while-casting. Certainly beats EQ1 style of stand-and-cast. Especially if the latter is mixed with the rubber-band type of lag. Nothing more annoying then standing still, casting a 5 second complete heal on your teammate just to get the message "your spell was interrupted because you moved". Grrrr, so annoying!

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

    Great question!

I haven't seen any details on this yet.  Would be a good question to add to any Q&A for the game.

I think it would be a nice touch

Thanks for the replies and glad you all agree with me so far, was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who prefered this type of casting. I hope we will be allowed to move but I guess we will have to wait until NDA is lifted and hope a beta tester can answer this for us.

If you want to see an epic fail of a spell system - then just go play AOC.  EVERYTHING you do means you have to stand still. Every single cast.  And the so called spellweaving ?   lol  its a joke.

I hope we see many spells and features that you can cast on the move.  Not all - but at least some that make the overall gameplay feel more alive.  It simply has to be like that.

WOW has taken this feature to new lvls both in PVP and PVE.  Its all about movement and using the character ability.  If the so called "next gen" MMO does not include this feature.... Well... then it simply is NOT the next gen MMO.  Its that simple.

Considering all the vids with engineers standing still for musket shots, I'm going to guess that certain spells (uber long range bolt spells especially) have stand still charge time. But DAOC had a ton of spells that were instant cast, that could be cast on the run. It looks to me like they are doing something similar with WAR. I very much doubt they will have a system in place where you can charge a huge bolt spell while moving, even at a slower rate.

You mean WoW went on easy mode since there's no reason to protect a caster even if he's in your own group.   If you can't figure out how to cast the right spells depending on whether your moving or standing you shouldn't be a caster in a game that requires some tactical / strategic thought besides running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

Casters are meant to be back up fire ... if you have to stand still then find a good spot to stand / hide and choose targets that are already under siege so they have no idea where they're being hit from.

I'll agree though if all spells are absolutely stand still that sucks but making them all able to cast on the move is really lame and completely easy mode.

i am almsot positive that the shadow warrior and squig herder have ranged abilites usable on the move.

And i think some of the other ranged classes have some, but they aren't focused on it.

    *nod*

    and the instant casts.

Actually Shadow Warrior has a whole on-the-move stance. In OB I'll be trying a Shadow Warrior, Black Orc, Shaman, and maybe a Sorcerer.

I figured the instant casts you could move it was more of the timed spells I was wondering about which I should of clarified in the original post.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
