WoW Questing Question

ramadinramadin Member Posts: 1,304

I didnt really quest with more than one char during the stress test, but I have a question that some of you may be able to answer if you did.

Are all the quests the same for every char/race/class?  I played a rogue and so did my wife so we did the same quests.  But if you play another char/class do they get different quests relating to their class?  IE Rogues do some quests involving sneaking in stealth mode, or pickpocketing someone like in Everquest.  I sure hope not everyone does the exact same quests regardless of what/who you are.  Thanks.

I believe there are only 3 quest types in WoW.

    a) collection
    b) kill
    c) class specific

So, no matter what faction (Horde or Alliance) you are, or what race/class you are, your going to get quests in group A and B. Quests from group C, would of course be tailored specifically for your class.

Now thats not to say all the A and B type quests are the same cause they aren't. Each quest is tailored for the race where it was started, for the area it will take place in and for the class types of those from the races where the quest was started.

Still, it's either a collection or kill quest...

The class quests that I ran into (priest, mage and warlock) were combinations of the above types... or actually fetch and carry types, where you ended up with something unique to your class (Mage was gear, Warlock was pet and I can't remember what the priest received).

My dog barks some. Mentally you picture my dog, but I have not told you the type of dog which I have. Perhaps you even picture Toto, from "The Wizard of Oz." But I warn you, my dog is always with me.

    There are also

    d) tradeskill and/or tradeskill component
    e) combination of any of the above

You got, "Normal" quests and you get class specific quests(and tradeskill ones too i guess). Any race can do the normal quests regardless of the area they are in(as far as i experienced), as long as its a zone from there territory. But you get class specific quests from your trainer. Usually in the main city. Once u get low on quests from your area, head to another area. Like for instance when I did alot of my quests in Silverpine(undead area) I went to Orc land and did a bunch of quests there. Really helps with lvling fast.

So is there quests that utilize the chars class/skills?  Or is it just "go here kill that, bring item back to me" questing.

Oh yea ive had quests on my rogue from my trainer where I had to stealth in and pick a locked chest, or pickpocket a key from a mob to get into a door. So yes your class specific quests utilize your special abilities for your class. At least they did for my rogue.

Before I moved to college and thus was unable to play anymore of the stress test because of the network setup they have here, I went on a Class only quest with my paladin.  The quest was to learn the spell Ressurection.  I had to take a holy symbol to a dead dwarf and Ress him to learn the spell.  So yes, there are quests that use class skills that only one class can do.  There are not many at the moment, at least not that I saw, only did 1 paladin only quest in 15 levels, but Im sure Blizzard will be adding more as the beta goes on.
