I might not like what Mythic had to say...but I applaude their decision to be honest  with what they are doing with the game. This stands in stark contrast with Funcom and what they shoveled out the door....knowing how broken/incomplete/poorly designed  AOC was.

Most people put for 5-10 bucks for a pre order.  You can go get that money back if it means that much to you.  Some people went a step further because they had such good faith in the product that they paid the fulkl price up front for the RESERVATION of a product.  You still have the ability to go back and cancel that reservation and get your money back.  You have not been "Bent over" and had anything done to you "Without lube" as another poster stated.  A couple of theings were removed (Some of the things were a pretty large removal.  I do not deny or debate that.  And it DOES crush the game in some peoples opinions.  You are entitled to that opinion and I, as well as Mark have encouraged you to cancel your order if it hurts you that much)  It is that simple.  Mythic gave ample fore-warning that things had changed so that people could change their minds and NOT be screwed.  Yes, you SHOULD thank them for giving you that notice.  Do you have to like the changes they made?  Absolutely not.  you should however appreciate that they let you know now so that you could change your mind, instead of making promises and then launching the product and making excuses as certain other companies have made habit of.
At any rate, all of your analogies suck serious ass.  So many of you are acting like you have been robbed.  You have been mis treated.  You have not been ANYTHING, but given honesty with enough time to alter your intention.  If that hurts you so much, please, I BEG you, cancel your order and do not play.  Not only this game, but ANY game.  No community deserves that sort of childish mindset to be prevalent in its core.  Get over it people.  You have not been forced to purchase the game.  And any pre order you have made can be cancelled.  The only one whipping you is yourself.  Go ahead and cry a little louder, but do it in private.  It is pretty ignorant here.  All of your whining protests fail.  WAAAAAAAAAGH

You can still cancel your order, get a full refund and wait for the game to come out a few months. Or cancel for the next few weeks/months and see how the game shapes up. The choice is always there.  Don't see the problem.

As for the car analogy.  You haven't actually physically got the product yet. A more appropriate analogy is if you pre-ordered a new car months in advance putting down the money for it and the dealer told you a few months before they shipped that the specifications for the car had changed and you could cancel your order with a full refund or not.

They announced this well in advance so that you can do exactly that.  At least they didn't hold it as a secret til after release then suddenly reveal that its not done or shoddily done with placeholder stuff.

Or I guess if you feel this is really really unfair you could bring the case up to small claims or whatever court or something but I seriously doubt you would win, especially since you're still able to get refunded. Or maybe they would give you some compensation for your "emo" being fractured or something.

Hey you can sue for anything, who knows! Go for it I say, set a precedent for all games that haven't come out yet and make sure that every word and every feature of every game is unretractable!  Heh that will make them work so hard to get features in you probably will get 6 cities, 4 of which are cardboard boxes with the names written outside.

Nope.  I think you will have to spell it out for me.  I missed your post in this thread that said this is going to rock.  Plus I went back and just in case I had missed it all I got from your posts was that you feel cheated that after you pre-ordered (note no money has been exchanged) but before beta is finished that they made alterations to their game that they felt would work better for their game.   And that even though they have beaten the dead horse over and over again about testing these changes and how they will help improve game play that you still feel you were cheated.  Out of no money sense as said before no money has yet to be exchanged.

So yes please spell out what I missed.

You're buying a game based on either the IP, the developers, the publisher, or hype.
Everyone knows or should know, that the actual features of a game are what they are when the games goes gold, not the list of features when the game is in development.
A pre-order is a gamble the game will be good, but in return you get assurance of a copy in case it sells out, and early access to the game.
    That's the deal you're making.
If you don't like that deal, don't pre-order and just go buy a copy after release.
