Seeking a new game (to hold me over till WoW is released)

I've been playing Rubies of Eventide for a while now, and while it's a great game, I'm getting a bit burnt out. My consoles seem boring, and since I played the WoW Stress Test, well, I seem to need something with a bit more spit and polish than the free games out there have. Tradeskills, balanced classes, good combat and a solid magic system are what I'm looking for.
Because of this, I'm looking mainly for an Open Beta, or even a closed beta that someone can weasel me into. I don't care about bugs or lag, as that's to be expected. What I want is something that has all of the above, as well as the fun factor. Please post suggestions up here. And if one person tells me to resubscribe to EQ, I swear I'll rip off their arms and beat them to detah with them! j/k seriously though, any help would be aprpeciated.

Yea, I just read that the saga of ryzom open beta ends today. Well there goes that. I wonder if there will be anything else out there that someone could suggest. It's so hard to find a good game nowadays

If I had an xbox, I'd not have asked for suggestions for games :P Fable is such an awesome concept for a game, and if I had $220 to pop down for an xbox and the game, I'd do it.

I was in the same boat after EQ1 waiting for EQ2. Unlike you, I did not have a specific set of requirements other than PvP, good mulitplayer game, strong economy and finally mental intrigue

So I gave Eve Online a shot and am having a really good time. Its Sci Fi instead of fantasy, but is a very interesting game. I don't regret my time playing Eve. FYI
No offence, but I quit EQ because they became like Wizards of the Coast there at SOE. Every 3-4 months an expansion comes out that you HAVE to get, otherwise you're stuck without a party, and without the new benefits that come with it (higher levels, new spells, etc).
I think everyone ends up in that whole void of waiting when they really crave a new game like WOW or EQ2 or whatever. We all get antsy waiting for our favorites to come down the "gold" pipe. The excitement can build especially during the last weeks of beta and we all tend to get frustrated and run out to buy some other MMORPG that we know will blow chunks but just need a little lift until the one we really want hits the shelves. Been there, wasted the money trying it, doesn't work.
Suggestion: If you own any console system try buying some really cheap cheap previously played games, may help to ease the suffering of waiting....and waiting...just barely

The only game I want is something nearly impossible to find, and it's hardly a cheap purchase. Final Fantasy Chronicles. Last game I'm missing from the whole set, and it has 2 of my favorite games of all time on it.

well i still have my eq accounts active till the end of september so ill be playing that a bit...
but i hear fable is out on wednesday and it ahd xbox live support... im going to iether buy this game or rent it... i RARELy play my xbox but i checked this game out and looks like it might be fun for a couple weeks.
I got Final Fantasy Chronicles at Fred Meyer for $20 the other day...
get Star Wars Galaxies and play on the server Bria or Ahazi, or DL Risk Your Life, North America beta, open beta should be this week..

ugh i played on the trial. it sucked. it sucked hard. RYL was a piece of garbage. i was in the closed beta for the na version. not worth it. got a better idea?
Did you play WoW? Apparently you "beta tested it", or oh wait.. you've beta tested EVERYTHING.. wow.. you must have a lot of spare time on your hands... meaning your probably young... too young to have a job, and therefore cant relate to the real world. I point my finger in your general direction targeting you and all your corrupted friends while flaking the crud from it in a mildly sarcastic way.. hmm Yeah that was just harsh cruelty on my part just because i hate hearing people like you bash games they've never played.. or have ( Tested everything...)
Anyway, what was this post about?.. oh yeah... Looking for a (new) game to play to hold you over until WoW comes out, Well, Here in my town, The Sims 2 comes out tomorrow ( wednesday ) so that might be something you may want to look into. I know its not an RPG or anythign of the such, but you know how addictive that game can be for a month or so! Just a though!

other ppl will disagree, but ive found quite the nice mmo to tide me over til EQ2 comes out. and believe it or not its Horizons. good graphics, great sound, good crafting system tons of race class combos..hell u can play a dragon if u want. very everquesty in spirit, cept u can solo all day if u so choose. 7 day trial at:

i had my doubts from all the bad press it gets, but this is a good game. give it a shot i dont think u will be dissappointed.

Yea, you obviously missed the part where I said I was in the closed beta for the NA version. It sucked almost as bad as SWG. I guess I'll just be stuck playing Earthbound till WoW's in open beta, or I win a slot from nvidia.
I've really, REALLY concidered Horizons but there's 2 catches. 1, they are in bankruptcy. 2, it's still full of bugs months after launch. 3, they require a credit card which I don't have, nor do I have a bank card with a logo. I may bug my wife to try, but I want to find out if it's closing or not.

Well let me look into it to be safe, but then if it's the case maybe I'll screw around in it for a month or 2.
