I wanna see the new expansion turbine is putting out for AC1 but would be nice if they updated the graphics a little nicer than what they are going to do on it because of it being so out of date, if this was really crisp it could probably still compete w/ WoW and EQ 2....

    they are,

if you check there sit then you can see that they are updating charachters, monsters and land.... this is on there website:

"Graphics UpgradeAsheron’s Call: Throne of Destiny will feature a substantial upgrade of Turbine’s first generation graphics engine, the Turbine Engine®.  The game will upgrade to DX9 and add 5,000 repainted textures.  As a result, AC:TD will have dramatically enhanced texture sizes, resulting in more detailed characters, creatures and landscapes.  The improvements won’t significantly impact performance, allowing robust play even on lower-end machines."

I like this game but I hate the communities that it creates.  Too many greifers and rediculous players in this game.  Ive tried many times to come back but all this game creates is greed among players.

yeah i know they are updating them somewhat but not too much, i was saying they should make it look like the game came out in 2002 or something graphics to where it would look crisp & nice.

A game is only as good as the people you play it with.

A lot of grieffers in AC1, but also a lot of good people.

Graphics update will be nice, but the gameplay is all that matters to me, and AC1 has the content to make up for the only so-so gameplay it offers. I'll be in AC1 for a while I think :)

Yah I met a griefer hunting in a dungeon he shouldnt be in.  I was there to help my vassale get a few levels but he was ganking all the kills.  I knew he wasnt prepared for the part of the dungeon we were going to lure him into cus he wouldnt quit following us.  We sent him in and he got killed by about 20 Raveners.  I killed all the raveners and waited at his body and did the mock emote =).

I'm really looking forward to the expansion pack too.  It's surprising how many of my AC1 friends, though, couldn't also join me in AC2 because it wouldn't load onto their computer.  As a result, I wonder whether the expansion pack will actually be played by current AC1 players or people who've been wanting to play but didn't care for the older-style graphics and gui.

Prolly a lil of both I'm guessing.

Come on now the community isn't that bad. Sure if you goto the boards, your bound to be met by the trolls that spend more day on the forums than playing. In the game there is far less arrogance, especially if you join up with a respectable monarchy.

The real problem as it has always been is the third party apps. It turns people into non-RP'ers, which isn't really that bad, just not what most people expect when playing an MMORPG. To me, AC1 seems to be full of a lot more 'normal' people that don't take the game too seriously. The third party stuff turns the game into, not really a game, just a secondary function that runs in the background. More time is spend navigating Decal than appreciating the game.

I didn't realize it until recently myself, I used to be an avid Decal supporter. But I've come to realize what a bad name AC1 has actually developed. And I can't help but wonder why Turbine is so weak that it won't just out right ban it. I really don't think a whole lot of people would quit. People would get over it, and would eventually revert to the tactics they had to use as a newbie and would, at least I think, come to have more fun again. It would be like starting over, since everyone always wishes to recapture that sensation of first starting.

Thats one way to look at it...

I look at it this way - Asheron's Call is not about selecting what spells I want to cast on myself every 55 minutes, or about trying to remember the name of a particular portal when I know WHERE it is - but about the interaction that you get while hunting in groups & trading between people - and (save macros & tradebots, which I abhor) Decal does nothing but enhance that - for me at any rate. But, a lot of other people take the whole "I must get level 200!" approach which does indeed ruin the great game that AC was...
