Why credit card required to play ? lol

Game says i have 30 days free to play but they ask you for your credit card number, this is amazing...Dont tell me that other games do that too, dont know if they do but they have a big face for asking me for my credit card number if i still dont know if i will like the game! This is just a robbery.

all p2p games ask for a credit card unless you are on a trial. That way they can immediatly charge you the second that you free time is over.

Its simple, if they let you play if you pay if not they ban, but ask for credit card number is just amazing. When i go to a gym they dont ask me for my credit card, i try it first.

Every single game that is a pay to play MMO since the 1990s requires you to input a credit card before playing (even the free month). It even states that on the cover of the box.

If you dont like it, cancel it before the 30 day grace period and you wont get charged. Simple

It's very typical commercial behavior. It's annoying, as with everything else businesses do to consumers, but there's really not a lot you can do about it.

They'll let you try the game for free, but you still have to offer them credit card information. You won't be charged if you cancel before the trial expires. If your trial expires and you haven't canceled yet, they'll charge you for your first month.

It's a combination of them trying to trap people into paying accidentally (by hoping you'll forget you signed up until they charge you once or twice), and them wanting some commitment from you before you even sample the game.

For automatic renewal when the 30 days is up.

It's also common practice with a trial anything online to verify the identity of the account holder in order to protect against malicious activity.

I dont think how it is even remotely a trap. You could activate the game with a credit card and 10 minutes later you can cancel it. Poof. free 30 days without forgetting to cancel. If you like the game. Resub at the end of 30 days.

Dont expect much from AoC, every patch it is getting worse and the  day after patch is an emerbency patch to fix what the weekly patch broke. Not to mention people are leaving the game  like crazy. Population on the server I played on was down to maybe 30% of what it was at launch and I havent logged in for 2 weeks. Overall AoC biggest waste of $50 I have spent on a game, no wonder they limited the beta to 7 days and wouldnt let you get out of the started area (the finished part of the game) because noone would have bought it..

Lance, call me crazy, but what in the world did your statement have to do with the credit card issue? Just curious.

Huh.. this is indeed how most mmos do it, and other subscription based internet services. Some even ask for it for the trial, because its a great way to validate the user, to stop botters and chinese farmers and such

Obviously you read these forums because you posted here. So my question is this. After seeing all the threads about how bad this game is, why would you buy it?

Expect to see the OP posting about how bad the game is in a few days.

P.S. Don't say you didn't get fair warning.
